- From Season 1 of Paramount's hit 80s TV series, "SOLID GOLD", enjoy our host, DIONNE WARWICK, singing, "THERE’S A LONG ROAD AHEAD OF US", produced by myself (Solid Gold's musical director and theme composer, Michael Miller - aka "Mickle"). This performance, introduced by José Feliciano, is from Season 1 - Episode 44 of SOLID GOLD, which aired on Jul. 11, 1981. Dionne first recorded this song on her 1981 album, "Hot, Live and Otherwise".

Dionne Warwick never had a bad hair day in her life
Overwhelming performance. The sound to kneel down.
Dionne at her most beautiful. The look, hair, face perfectly beat, ( those perfect cheekbones and jawline) the classic couture draping her body, and a voice that could effortlessly hit the stratosphere. “1980-81 Dionne” was untouchable. And you musically brought out the best in her on this first season of SG!

You had thought that maybe this song had not been performed on "Solid Gold", but here it is and was/is a beautiful ballad as Dionne Warwick had stated on Johnny Carson. In my opinion, it is one of her best from that very early 1980s era. Thank goodness you had located it in your collection.

Yes I totally agree, Miss Warwick voice and beauty were quite unique. She stood out from all the others because of this.

I distinctly remember wanting so badly to buy Dionne's HOT! LIVE AND OTHERWISE album and having already spent my allowance, resorted to using my lunch money to get it. Seeing Dionne in concert a few weeks ago and your posting all of these awesome clips is bringing back these great memories. Many thanks!

Could Dionne have looked any prettier than she did here? I don’t think so. She had a serious glam squad while hosting SG. Her hair, makeup, and wardrobe were just impeccable. 👏👏👏
@DionnesDiscography I heard that her wardrobe for solid gold was of from her own personal closet. And you are right about dionne during (1980-‘81) she was in her absolute prime. That voice could do anything and could leave you absolutely speechless. Ps i love your covers

One of my favorites from the Arista years
A beautiful ballad from a very beautiful singer with a beautiful message from within. A classic from a classy, classical singer of ballads with length, depth, and definition. I really think that it is a #1 song on many personal song charts.
