Lexus RC F 2020 review

- Опубликовано: 25 июл 2024
- The Lexus RC F is one of the last muscle car coupes with a proper V8 - no turbos to be found here! With a hard-charging eight-cylinder engine making 351kW/467hp, rear-wheel-drive, the new RC F also packs a revised suspension and a lighter weight than before. The facelift looks good, too. To get some detailed impressions, Tom heads out in the 2020 RC F near Sydney.
What do you think of the new Lexus RC F? Would you consider this coupe over a BMW M4 or Mercedes-AMG C63? Let me know all your thoughts in the comments.

In today's episode, Tom takes Lexus's very own muscle car, the RC F, out for a fast blast.
The previous rcf was awful in handling
Not awful, but a bit average. Substantial improvements have been made for this mid-life update, which I detail in the video.
@@lukelawrence6007 It was crap until they put the adaptive dampers in a couple of years ago. I've driven MY15 and MY18 and the difference is huge.
@@neilr4867 Good point, Neil.
Always loved the RCF & now it’s even better since the facelift. I’d have one of these over the Germans in a second. And that V8 😍
The V8 is where it’s at!
Zippy Gundoo yeah, you really have to love that reliability over the German competitors as well😎
I just sold my 6 y.o. crappy VW Touareg and I'll be driving this Lexus in a matter of days .
@@joesarb6455 lucky
Yes 🙌. Germans are empty money pits over 50k miles and/or 5 years old! Especially Broke my wallet BMW’s
Most people hate what they dont know. I have 0 complaints with the lexus infotainment. I have rc350 btw
The last part, where you said: "You're missing the point." BINGO! 🙂 If you understand Lexus' V8 ethos, then you'll love this engine in any model. Thanks for posting!
It’s a beautiful car, inside and out.
The facelift did this car really well. Love that V8, can't complain. I'm looking at y'all Mercedes, Audi and BMW!
Agreed, Brian.
Always great reviews from Tom!
Thank you! Much appreciated!
Great review, as always Tom.
Your channel is really developing and your practical local insights are always welcome. I also appreciate the fact that you don’t have the typical exclusively pro-German car bias displayed by others, who seem to not be able to resist the lure of the sponsorship dollars from such brands.
Your channel should have many more subscribers. Keep up the good work.
Thanks mate, I appreciate it. As for where the car comes from - I just try to never prejudge any outcome. Doesn’t matter where it’s made. What matters is whether the specific model on test is built well, drives well, is easy to use and is good value for money when contrasted against its segment. 👍🏼
Yes why not It's a great looking performance coupe with one of the best N/A V8 in the market Great review
The facelift was remarkably effective, I reckon.
It looks amazing
Mate I reckon you’re the best cars reviewer in Australia...that’s just my humble reckoning:)
That’s very kind! Thanks!
我很同意兄弟!
Top review Tom!
Thank you, Paul!
Much better than all rivals .
Why? If you say because of the N/A V8 then I agree with you but if you say because of reliability then I disagree because reliability doesn’t matter on a new car
10:47 damn that face 👌🏼
Btw Nice review bro
gorgeous car
Very nice review 👍👍👍
Thank you!
Where was the location for the stationary review?
Nice review. The rear seat legroom wouldnt be bad if you set the front seat more forward and angle up the seat AND you’re under 5-8”
You had the seat as far back as possible and angled to far back too.
Looking great in blue
Love that Cobalt colour.
I need to buy this car for collection.
What a machine
💪🏼
You don't sound like yr from Sydney! For a second I thought u were from Northbridge..... but nah It sounds awesome!
Great video mate
Thanks for watching!
@@chasingcars no worries, I love a Lexus video
Interior hasn't changed at all since MY18 (aside from colours and different carbon options). The bigger screen came along back then too. It is aging a little, but even at that, I find the combination of digital and analog dials a really good mix and far better than staring at a huge piano black monitor panel extending across the dash (ie, Mercedes). The boot is a pretty good size considering what the car is, but it's worth noting the back seats don't have a split feature and only have a small ski port.
But the best feature? That motor. It's like unleashing hell when you give it the berries and revs its head off. Endless fun when you've got the opportunity to use it.
Good pickup on the interior, Neil, though Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are now being included - a change that happened after we filmed this video.
@@chasingcars Just a quick aside, Lexus are now offering retrofit Android Auto/Apple Carplay to RCF owners with the compatible system. Available on newer than November 2017 models... cost is $250.
Final Dinosaur in a good way. Who buys can own for many decades, it will work :-) Emotions there.
Great review, gorgeous car, love from Pakistan
The thumbnail is red but it's actually blue 🥺
That's a real ouch moment with the $29000 option pack. I am guessing that a couple of overnight bags in the boot when you and a "special" friend go away for the weekend is all you will really need to put in there.
It’s a yuge figure for an option pack, agreed, but the carbon ceramic stoppers are just devastatingly effective, and the other stuff is good too. Yes, those back seats don’t really fit humans so you and a special friend will be about the limit...
Lexus chose a normal Torque Converter for Reliability and Longevity reasons...The RCF rivals with their double clutch quick shifters only gain fractions of seconds..over the Torque Converter box
The very latest Aston Martin Superleggera used a ZF 8sspd Torque Converter Auto....0-100mph in just over 6secs😆😆😆...
@@TheMuzikall it's heavy and has traction issues
Really ! You remind me Douglas DeMuro a Japan hater.
Is he? I am no Japan hater
I hear the headroom is much better if you get a model without the sunroof.
I think the only way to get that are the models with the carbon roofs
Now that the c63 is a hybrid and the BMW M4 looks a little bit ugly I think the rcf is best one just for its engine
It funny how lexus messed up the design of the IS but got it right on this RC
Facts
Yikes that door closing sound at 4:25
Sounds like a Genesis door😂😂
If had that amount of money i would look no further :)
With the current fuel crisis, I’m out on a 👀 to get this car at a bargain!
Decent review. Too bad Australia does not get this engine anymore. In US 2025 will be the last model for the 2UR-GSE. I wonder why this car did not have TVD esp when it got the optional Carbon Ceramic brakes, in US that is only exclusive for TE. Sadly Lexus cut off TVD from 2023 onwards and other features of this RC F, like bracing in engine bay, driver memory, auto tilt mirrors etc. This car will outlast any M car and any AMG, those engines won't even last beyond 60K without a hole in the wallet. RCFs still running. I wish I can get one soon and swap my IS 500. RC F is far more planted and solid than my IS 500 and F tuning is amazing on the RC F as well. Chassis is also very solid.
I personally think this is a very nice car though I'm not a fan of couper sedan.
5/5
Can someone tell me the point of "lc" if this exists?
The LC is a grand tourer; this is a sports coupe
@@chasingcars Difference?
Parishrut Pandey LC has higher quality interior and options, superb looks and sounds better. With this engine, if I had to choose apart from LC, I’d get the GSF over this one.
@@nicolasmikah4168 but twice the price!
Parishrut Pandey I think the GSF is slightly more expensive than the RCF and the LC with the performance package is around $25,000 more. But I see what you mean in terms of speed and performance, they’re all the same.
Don't let people fool you, you have 80% of your max torque at 2000rpms on the 2ur.
I think when people buy car around $150k, they don't only expect reliability.
Nice review.
For 150k reliability is the least they should expect!
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Facelift is nice but c'mon isn't it time for a brand new model..
Getting close, I agree. But I bet you any new-gen model will ditch the 5L V8 for the 3.5TT V6 in the LS.
@@chasingcars That's exactly my thoughts
@@chasingcars OMG let's that happen. There are rumours that new IS F will be made with collaboration with BMW. I hope not, I mean new Supra is a nice car but it will be nice to have true japanese option on the market. Sorry for my English, it is not my native language. :D
@@mikehead2236 there is no collab with bmw on a new ISF and there will be no ISF for now. Even the LCF has been delayed until 2023. Lexus is busy with the LC Convertible and UX Plug In just debuted.
Technically, this IS the NEW model. It is a 2020. 😂😂😂😂
i hope flat bottom steering wheel next time
Sign me up for one ☝️ of those
You understand that 2+2 is 4 right lmao 🤣🤣🤣
The term just means 2 proper seats up front, and 2 jump seats in the back
@@chasingcars I know buddy just clowning that's the reason for the emojis 😁 great review 👍🏼🙂
The previous looks more aggressive. The front fascia is normal looking like an Altima the ducks are too square instead of triangular like the previous. It just blend in with the Nissan too much I love my 2015 way better
Ive been saying the same thing ...good points..i love my 2016 but i like that 2 tone interior
I've got an 18 model... I'm torn. I like the new front end but I'm not sold on the side skirts and the rear lights
Lexus should give it a soft top like they did with the 500LC.
Woud love one but even in 2024 they hold their values too well…
same interior like 2010
for rich grand parents only👀
Lol. They made the screen bigger, at least.
@@chasingcars 🤭🤭👍
Why does every review of the RC F fail to show the operation of the sunroof..that's right, it is exactly as an old Honda..check it out!
Er...like many cars it pops up and out of the roof? Does that sum it up?
@@chasingcars Mine doesn't...I never use it.
The Pre-refreshed version looked better.
Dee, I've gotta say you are the first person I have heard say that.
@@chasingcars umm interesting.
Thank youuu i agreee more aggressive new one looks like an American eagle
That makes two!
I kinda think the same. They just made it bulkier
burst into laughter when I heard the stockholm syndrome
Gotta call it as I see it!
jiadong shi - Yup, that was clever. It actually made me think about it because I had a tough go of it in the first couple weeks of weeks having to use it. I wished it was a touch screen but that was almost 2 years ago and today it’s just as natural as anything else, or is it really.... :)
I hear the touch pad is more favoured in LHD markets, which makes sense as most people are right handed. In RHD it can be a pain in the arse at times
With the LC out this car is redundant.
I watched hoping to find out about changes in the 2020 model I heard about. This review was just generic and lazy 👎
The slowest vs competitors
Nope
You can tell everybody behind Germany 🇩🇪
What car are we talking about, fell asleep.
Attention span issues?
Coming a person driving a civic. If u have not seen or driven one, stfu. U have no idea what the hell you are talking about.
🤣🤣😂🤡🤡🤡
Another Lexus no one is buying. They really should stick to soccer mom cars.
Steve Jovan stfu. U dont know what the hell u r talking about. Its 10x better than your overpriced ugly ass porsche.
Great car with shit interior
I've seen worse cabins, TBH
Old cars doing old stuff
I’m sick of cheap BMW plastic crap and way overrated ! I’ll take that Lexus all day long, oh look at me I’ve got a bmw ? Who cares
