It was the best meal during primary school lunch! I had forgotten about it until I came across your video. I'm from Hammersmith and went to St Augustine's Primary school. We never had it with tomato. I just remember it being in a big rectangle pan. I feel like Celine Dion. It's all coming back to me now! Xxx
Glad this has brought back some memories for you too. I grew up in Yorkshire but I think school dinners were pretty similar up and down the country. Like you, we had it served up in rectangles cut from a large pan. I didn't like tomatoes back then though...and I would peel them off when the dinner ladies weren't looking!! Thanks for watching😀
Just made the wardolf salad, i will be making this cheese pie tomorrow, thank you. we had a cheese and potato pie at school.. south London, cant wait to have this now wish i done it with the salad lol
Hi thanks for the video I'm making this later but only got cheddar cheese. Sent the link to some family members too.hope it tastes good with cheddar cheese x
Cheddar works absolutely fine:) I've often had to do the same - I live in the States, so it's not always easy to find Red Leicester. I hope you and the family enjoy this pie😊
It took me two hours after seeing this video come up to realise I actually had this at school and was one of the best things I ever had 😂 i know what im having tomorrow 👊
It was cheese pie in my school in York, despite having no pie top. It was thicker that this too. no onion, no tomato, I guess the school cooks knew any embelishments would just lead to it not being eaten.
Thanks for your question. Preheat the oven and bake the crust at 390F (200C). Then turn down the temperature to 340F (170C) for the remainder of the baking. Hope this clarifies:)
I live in the States and grams are not a measure used here. Fair point though for viewers where the metric system is used and I may get round to adding grams in too for future recipes. Thanks for commenting and watching 😊
A British dish egg the hell do u use American weights ??? they are not as reliable as a proper scales , shan’t bother making this u have used american wrights 😡
Made me hungry watching this. The pie looked amazing and always loved this at school.😁

In schools in the north of England, they called this a cheese, egg flan.
My favourite. Thanks for the recipe.
Hope you enjoy it:)

Ooh yes. And custard flan.
how much degrees do you set the oven heat when you put the crust in for 10 minutes?

How is this not a quiche lol?
Kesh
Or in the real world use pre made pastry lol
Absolutely! I find myself going down the pre-made route quite often these days too😀
I use a pre-baked pastry case for even more time saving.
Why don't you measure in grams, not everyone has a cop measure

@@SususCookbook Thank you, that would bei really helpfull
@@lesleybridges535 a simple Google search has a table of conversions I just have printed in my recipe book I love US recipes but prefer gm measures x
Sorry, cup measure, not cop
A British dish egg the hell do u use American weights ??? they are not as reliable as a proper scales , shan’t bother making this u have used american wrights 😡
If you look in the written recipe in the description, you will see that all the measurements show both metric as well as US cup measurements.
Add at least 2 more eggs
Don't over-egg the pudding. the old saying goes. 😁
