Great video thanks for sharing your skills. Can one apply guilding wax directly to paint or does it need a clear wax base?

Thank you so much! 😍 Although it's technically not necessary to apply clear wax first, I always do so. You'll need less gilding wax, plus the smooth surface you create with the clear wax will help you to manipulate the gilding wax better. 😊 When you use posh chalk patina there's a patina extending wax especially designed for this, so you need less gilding wax or patina to cover a larger surface.

Hi Leen, was wondering on your last tip about drying time. Would I need to wait the 5 days before I could move my clock back inside? I can keep it in the garage if I must, but just wondering if we could gently move it inside and put it in place. Thanks so much for your tips!!

That's not a problem at all. The first 24 hours it's important not to place anything on top of a waxed surface. Dust and tiny precies of fabric can leave traces in the wax that isn't cured yet and you won't be able to fix it. After these 24 hours you can place things on top of a waxed surface, but you just need to be careful. Because your piece isn't completely protected yet. Moving your clock inside right after waxing is not a problem at all when you have clean hands. 😊

Hello, please let me know what brushes #s does you use to apply the black wax and the gold patina gilding wax

I use a round detail brush for the black wax in the corner. It really doesn't need to be a fancy brush. The gilding wax can be applied by your finger. 😊😊

Did u have to sand the wood first?

Hi Mona, I didn't have to sand the wood first. I used Annie Sloan chalk paint. It's not the cheapest paint, but it definitely is high quality. It sticks to almost anything and you don't have to sand when you use this paint. 😊😊
