It’s so true what you say about gilt wax addiction - but what I’d really like to know is how do you seal it so it doesn’t rub off? It’s fine for mirrors and frames, but when I’ve used it on furniture it’s invariably come off and I can’t imagine it would be any better on metal hardware - should I varnish it? :-)
Regarding the finish already on the mirror before you added the gilding wax, was that something like French linen chalk paint with dark wax over it? Can the gilding wax be applied to something that has already had a coat of a different wax product? Thanks so much in advance for your reply!
im re-doing a triple oval mirror that has already been spray painted with a brass metallic spray paint, but I wasn't pleased with the result and wanted something with more depth without having to redo everything. Would the wax go over spray paint well?
Hi! You do not seal the wax, as it is a sealer! You just need to be gentle with it until it dries and cures. It will not wash off but as you clean it you may need to reapply every few years to get it bright again!
Hi Tricia Brandt! Yes we do have black wax 👌🏼 here is the link to the product on our site! suitepieces.com/products/jolie-finishing-wax-black?_pos=2&_sid=4fdae0879&_ss=r
Hi! Gilding wax is very durable. It may need refreshing over time if it s a piece that is handled often, but on a piece like this you will never need to touch it up!
We prefer (on larger surfaces) a stencil brush (suitepieces.com/products/stencil-brush-set-3?_pos=1&_sid=bfe80b7b5&_ss=r). On Smaller surfaces we use our fingers!
I love that, amazing job ❤

Do you need to varnish and se the wax ? Or will it just wash off?

How can you get the black contrast in the corners to give it more depth?
You can get a black contrast in the details by applying paint then gilding over it.
Does it transfer or does it set and not come off
INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL - If starting from a white ceramic piece, do you recommend starting with a black wash - to get the contrast and depth?
You can do a black wash OR paint black into the details then go over it with gilding wax
Where's buy it?
Can this be placed over a wood frame?
Hello great video. Just a question. Can I use gliding wax on already painted wood peace of furniture? Thank you so much for your answer.
Yes you can! Gilding wax is actual your last step when completing your project so you can add it whenever!
Can this be used on a frame that's already painted?
Yup!
Great video btw
do you have black wax? I want to "distress" my gold mirror..

Hi. Is it safe to touch after a while? I have a project to do and elements will be handled all the time. Varnish maybe? Thanks
Wondering if it works well on metal? Thanks in advance
Gilding wax is GREAT on metal!
Can you use this on wood?
I guess you'd need to seal the wood and then put a red, yellow or dark grey base coat on before you put the gold on.
Beautiful! How durable is it though?

Would this work on brass door hinges. Should it be sealed?
Is there a certain kind of brush to use?
We prefer (on larger surfaces) a stencil brush (suitepieces.com/products/stencil-brush-set-3?_pos=1&_sid=bfe80b7b5&_ss=r). On Smaller surfaces we use our fingers!
Do you have to reapply after a while?
Only to touch up or brighten if you'd like
I would buy, but so many quesrions went unanswered. I dint like that style of business.
What brand of gilding wax is that?
We sell the gilding wax on our website (suitepieces.com/search?type=product,article,page&q=*gilding%20wax*)
Can you use this on wood? Like Wooden door accessories that are painted black?
Absolutely
Can I do this with Annie Sloan gilding wax?
Yes you can!!
Suite Pieces thank you! I’m going to give that a go tomorrow! 😀
Good luck!!
Suite Pieces can't wait to try this on the old family mirror 😊
