I started painting and staining furniture when a teenager. I turned 75 on Monday and am still working on furniture. You have shown techniques and supplies I’d never tried. I’m in the process of building my creative studio next to my pool so I have lots of room for my art furniture. Thanks so much for teaching this old lady some new tricks. That color is just too perfect and beautiful for words. I’m going to have to keep researching to find out if chalk paint can be used to get a pristine look. If chalk chips or fades away there’s no way I’ll ever buy any of it. The top part of that table is beyond perfection. I love it so much.
It can be used for an ultra smooth modern look if that's what you mean! It's very durable once you wax it and it cures!

I love to dry brush the paint goes such a long way and gives such a soft textural effect. So much easier than sanding back but gives a similar effect. Another great video Kacha.

So pretty! I think I’m going to try you’re dry brushing technique with dark gray base and pale pink on a vanity and chair set I have. The all pink wasn’t hitting me just right but I knew I wanted pink. This technique is perfect!

This piece came out GREAT! so lovely are those colors together. I like using gold leaf, too. Sometimes I use a paint brush to tap the gold leaf onto the glue. I like the way you made a "fake wood" table look like a million bucks, Kacha!

You are my new favorite! Question, would you save paint and $ if you just painted the dark colors on the edges and corners? It seems like a bit of double the work and paint when you paint it all black and then paint the whole thing light. Or are you using the bottom coat as a primer ?
I do that because I never know how much I want to go back later. There's many ways to look at it and none are wrong!

I went to Vidal Sassoon in London and some of them cut hair that way ...They would start out one way but change their mind as they went along and the style would end up be a whole different style, completely different. That's the beauty of being an artist, the Creative License! You are a wonderful talent. Thank you for sharing. My mom passed away and I am moving into her old home, which is so hard because it is so empty without her. You are helping me turn the empty house into a darling cottage that will be a home I love. You never know how you touch peoples lives.

I actually like your particular style achieved with Dry Brushing and color choices. It reminds me of a Charcoal Sketch, (I liked it with that fine grain feel of Dry Brushing, on camera it looked Charcoal, and a silvery white it was a great feel) an early 1900's Graphic Artist feel.
Maybe do a Wooden Box, old Jewelry box, with the look + Gold Leaf, and see what ya think, maybe a Caliente Red inside. 😉

I adore his works and his "Jonathon"
He is a friend of Annie Sloan and they occassionally Co-Create projects together, when they film it , it's usually is uploaded on Annie's site.

This Video is the 1st time I saw your work, and after my comment above, I thought I'd support your Channel with a Sub, then skip over to cruise your recent videos ...
and that's what I did, choosing one that's a "Stone Finish" (Turn your Furniture to Stone, I think that's the title)

Hi again kacha...another beautiful piece! Could you talk a little bit about your brushes. I know you have in the past. What I'm wondering in particular is for dry brushing. I have invested in better brushes for painting, but what about dry brushing? I know you say "chippy brushes" but if they are cheap wont the bristles fall out? Is there a "brand" you would suggest? Hey Patricia! So to answer your question, yes some bristles will fall out. Also I say the word cheap and chip the same so sorry for my English lol! But really I got used to using those (cheap) chip brushes for dry brushing and removing anything if it falls. Also I have spoken about brushes in 2 of my earlier podcasts and I’m sure I will speak more on them in future podcasts!

Hey Kimberly! I found it easy to work with, it wont be perfect like using wax or metallic paint. What i like the most about it is the bling factor, it's much brighter and bolder than waxes are! ❤️
