How to build (easy) custom vintage gold frame

  • I made a Vintage-style frame for my canvas painting! I built my diy frame using wood trim from the hardware store, then painted it black and covered it with a gold wax. This combination made my frame look like a real gold vintage frame! I love the worn metal look and also just love how the ornate design complements my art. I'll show you how to make wood look like metal and how to create a metallic gold finish on a wood frame. This is an awesome diy room decor project and really adds to my diy bedroom decor!
Link to my video showing how I painted my painting: • DIY Mountain Painting ...
Products I used in this video:
    - Wood trim: Home Depot
    - Gold paint (acrylic from Michaels)
    - Gold Wax: This is the one that I used (Premium Wax Metallic Finish By Craft Smart), however, this is the one I WANTED to use but wasn't available for me at the time: amzn.to/3NhZKtm

Absolutely beautiful frame and art work. I’ve always joked that I can only draw stick people but love art so much, and have always secretly wished I had the gift. I’ve learned to create other things but still, even over the age of 65, I’ve never had the courage to paint like you did. You’ve encouraged me to give it a try, God bless you. You’re a doll. Thank you so much for sharing.

You have direct light falling on the canvas. To prevent fading and damage, finish the painting with a UV protective top coat and either move the painting or close window light during the hours it falls on the canvas. ❤ I love your spirit!

Thank you so much for making this video! I had a frame that had a cool vintage finish, but I *thought* what I wanted was just bright gold so I spray-painted it. Then I started collecting other paintings and they all have cool vintage frames so now I want to make the one I spray-painted look vintage once again! Thanks to your video I feel confident that I can do it!!

You are awesome! I realised today that my blank walls are not good and need something so I splurged on a canvas reproduction of a Picasso that is bright and cheerful and sold for 60 million dollars a few years ago so out of my budget. I then realised it's going to look pretty terrible in a Walmart picture frame. I found your video and your end result is exactly the image I had in my head of "I wish I could get a frame like this" I am going to try and make one! Thank you

I just made a frame out of the same trim. I wish I had seen this video before I made mine. My frame turned out pretty good, even though it was the first one I made. I used some metal clamps a friend loaned me. I would rather have used the clamps used here, though. I stained and varnished the frame, but I would have liked to do the gold finish shown here. If I ever make another frame, I am going to use a power miter saw, not a hand miter saw. Good job!
