- I AM FREAKING OUT RIGHT NOW! For those that don't know, Metal Gear is one of my favorite series and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is not the best to me, but my favorite story from any medium. It's that good. So, here's my freaking out over a game that I never thought would be real and the first real Metal Gear content since 2015. Enjoy!

Guys, I'm speechless. We were just cracking dumb jokes thinking it was nothing until that silhouette blindsided me. I have been dreaming of this for so long and I still cannot believe my favorite story ever is getting remade. While there is definitely some room for skepticism given the lack of Kojima and Metal Gear's rocky situation, I want to have faith given what we've seen and the words from the development team.
Also, I was so enthralled by hype that I didn't even realize that the first three games are only Volume 1, which means we could be seeing MGS4 finally escaping the PS3! This is so huge!

I’m afraid it’s been… (almost) 9 years.
Everyone talks about how The Last of Us, Uncharted, God of War, reinvented the videogames industry with story driven gameplay, but everyone forgets about MGS, which I think pioneered the amazing storytelling in games, together with a good gameplay. Not saying that TLoU and the others are bad games, but I think that we have to give credit where credit is due, this franchise was and still is one of the best there is.
Metal Gear Solid 3 was the game that got me so passionate about video games narratives and talking about them in the first place. It blew my mind when I first played it and it's still my favorite story out there.
Man I still remember that christmas night in 2005 when I got the PS and came with both MGS 2 and 3. I spent all night playing the games and finished them during the day of Dec 25th, I was so engaged, I miss those times.
I haven’t played any Metal Gear Solid games but that trailer looked super cool. It makes me happy to see people so excited for this!
If you love narrative driven games, I highly recommend the series! I’m currently working on a guide to help newcomers jump into the series, so keep your eyes peeled for that if you’re interested.

I’m currently working on a beginner’s guide for newcomers getting into the series and I talk about my love for it a bit there, but I also might look into working on a more laidback video fully covering the areas mentioned.

I also think, and I might be wrong, it seems like a version of MGS3. Akin to Subsistence.
That face looked in engine so the GFX will probably be insane. Also I wonder if its an upgraded Fox engine or a new one

I’m super excited for this remake of Snake Eater. My main hope for the game is that it feels different enough from MGS3 to feel like it’s own thing while still respecting MGS3 as it’s own game if that makes sense

As a big fan of Xenoblade games for their narratives...do you think I'd enjoy the Metal Gear Solid series?
I've always wanted to get into it but I've been intimidated by it a bit hahaha.
While Metal Gear presents its story in a different manner, a lot of the DNA is there. Similar to Xenoblade, Metal Gear is a really character focused narrative and a lot of its strength comes from the various relationships that exist among characters. Arcs will also parallel each other, which is where a lot of the beauty in Metal Gear comes from.
I wouldn’t say its lore is as deep since it all occurs in a much shorter time span than Xenoblade’s hundreds of years, but there’s a bunch of small details and science fiction jargon just like Xenoblade. Also, big robots lol.
I highly recommend at least giving the series a try to anyone if you like strong narratives in games. I’m working on a beginner’s guide, so perhaps that could help too!

Allow me to present you with my reaction, broken down into four stages:
Stage one: Nerd Rage because they skipped Metal Gear 1 straight to Solid 3 (SNAKE EATER? YOU FUCKING IDIOTS!!!!!!!)
Stage two: Being recalibrated after getting disappointed by that shitty INO extraction shooter masquerading as a Marathon reboot and accepting this is the way things are (Yeah, I am let down they skipped Metal Gear 1, but hey. Metal Gear is still alive. It's still Metal Gear. And the best is STILL yet to come.)
Stage three: Actually starting to lighten up and beginning to feel hype after watching the announcement trailer over and over again (Hey, you know what? I'm actually kind of excited that we're getting a Metal Gear Solid 3 remake in the first place and this might be worth a second look considering I FUBAR'd my first attempt at playing Solid 3 and if its as faithful as it claims)
Stage four: *DOO DO-DOO DO-DOOOOOOO~*
What a thrill

P.S. Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty is the best (or at least my favourite) and I'm happy we'll get to play it and Solid 1 through the "master collection".

Konami posted on their website that the remake will star the original voice characters, so I believe we’re in good hands there.
