  • I really wanted to support this film, but now I'm not so sure if I want to.

I know but I'm still gonna check it out anyway because I understand that Matt Reeves is going for a younger flawed Batman which I think is pretty cool and reminiscent of 2004's Batman from the animated series. But at the same time I also want to see more from the character. The rogues gallery is great, but I really wanna see other characters in the Batman lore get their due on screen for once instead of seeing another Bruce Wayne story. It's the same criticism I have towards MCU Spider-Man.

Honeatly I am excited for Matt Reaves The Batman but I am starting to hate the deconstruction/watchmen/Alan Moore philosophy of writing a "superhero in real world" trope. It sucks because it's a bunch of mostly talentless writers copying Alan Moore because Watchmen was influential but what most forget is that he was wrote What happened to the man of tomorrow and V for Vendetta. Both fun and thought provoking when you finish the story after engaging with an intriguing narrative first.
I don't think Reeve's Batman will do that at all but I'm hoping that it is a good Year-2 and detective focused Batman (which is a cool place to start for me personally). Rumors have gone around that there will be a Trilogy but unless it's confirmed I'm not holding my breath on seeing the begining of the Bat Family.
It's why I love the MCU so much, sure you have you have solo character stuff like Ironman, Doctor Strange, but Marvel takes some liberties with adapting stuff from the comics. Thor Ragnorok, and Cival War are great examples of that. What I'm trying to say is that the MCU has the characterization of it's characters down (90% being fair) and It doesn't deconstruct or make these superheros overly gritty or realistic.
