Steam locomotives have their own aura. Covered in mysterious steam, sound of piston, the iconic whistle, the remarkable chugging. Feels majestic. In the era of MAGLEVs and TGVs, still when someone thinks of Railways, steam locos are what first comes to the mind.
Loved the bullet-nosed WP class loco as a young boy and still do. The star in the front was so terrific! Many thanks for bringing back the wonderful memories of those gone-by days!
Taj Express (Delhi to Agra) was hauled by this bullet nose WP locomotive. I had a memorable experience of journey on this train in the year March, 1970 - we were literally whisked away to Agra in just 2hrs. 30 minutes - almost with a speed of beyond 100km per hour !
My favourite steam loco when I was in India . Thank you for this beautiful video and the loco shed too . My Dad and a lot of my family members served on IR my Dad first on steam and then later on with EMU’s on the metre gauge. Cheers from Australia .
I love it! Thank you for your upgrading precious video. I’m moved this. As I have been India to see steam engin in 1993-94. Unfortunately I didn’t bring video camera not to be rubbed. I could only take photos about them. I still remember deeply the sound of them. Especially WG tile . When I saw one, I was derpy fascinated its sound as if growing and asiteting the earth.just like 12:50! Thank you!
One of the very few but excellently documented video (on RUclips) of the mighty steam locomotives that carried the people and freight alike by taking charge post independence and continuing their tremendous hard work for decades leaving their eternal mark on the mind and heart of millions of people of India through generations. Driving these beasts wasn't easy but our drivers and their assistants did a tremendous and commendable work diligently years after years day and night inspite of not being much appreciated. If given a chance, I would go back in time and live the era between 1948-1990s when these beauties ruled the majority of the indian terrain bridging the cultural and territorial gaps across India. I was searching for this beautiful video for a long time abd finally found it today. Thanks very much.
Thanx bro i am little late to show it to my late grandfa who start thier job in indian railway from loco shed of saharanpur and retired as senior TTE From saharanpur.
Waooo..I hv witnessed these steam loco at that time... Watching those WP star nosed loco was not less than a dream come true..these WP used to travel b/w saharanpur and delhi via meerut...
Real feeling and love for Trains and Railways only came from the majestic Steam Locos...we the kids just became enchanted and became fans...we were little apprehensive too going near them... half expecting when would the shrill whistle would be suddenly blown..and then putting my both hands on my ears...❤...and traveling those days and our fighting for the window seats...and looking out..even at the risk of the specks getting into our eyes...and those days we used to carry earthen pots in the trains to keep the water cold...still remember every summer vacation catching Toofan Express from Agra Cantt station...those days there was no direct train from Gwalior to Kolkata ( I am talking about 70s and early 80s). So we used to come to Agra by train from Gwalior ( mostly diesel engine trains on that route)..and wait for Toofan Express...that used to arrive from Delhi around 1-1.30 PM and was pulled by a big beautiful Steam Loco...then all the enjoyment of our train journey used to begin...the train took the route from Agra Cantt to Agra Fort and then to Tundla Jn.. and from there Etawah, Kanpur and other stations like Allahabad, Mughalsarai, Patna, Mokama, Kiul, Jhajha, Jasidih etc. and completed the journey to Howrah the next evening. The train had lots of stoppages and we wished the journey to be as long as possible for a never ending fun 😊... finally after getting into Bengal the train used to get an Electric Loco..!
Awesome video from a time when steam traction was in its last days that too on Northern Railways network in India. I've seen Saharanpur Jn with diesel locos when electrification from Ambala side ended over there way back in 2004. These steam locos gave an amazing feel in the station's environment 🚂
Punjab and MG lines par 1995 tak steem locomotives the. Extreme rural area and branch line was operational by steam locomotive. And officially passenger trains se team service END hone ke bad bhi ho shunting mein use the. Yah Bhusawal mein bhi the Jahan complete electrification tha. 1995- 96 Tak the ye
Steam locomotive was in operations in tamilnadu and karnataka upto 1975 and phased out to discel, electric so changed most of Loco staff upto 1969 angloindians.

1994 so many steam locomotives is doubtful in Saharanpur.
hope you enjoyed it
It’s absolutely correct. There were steam locos between Sharanpur and Moradabad up to 1995. Sharanpur got electrified in 1997/1998
Station is Saharanpur...bro...because I am from here...
