Now this is realistic fishing. I talk to myself just like this when I fish. Man this refreshing. Snags, misses, catches, and makeing wrong moves makes fishing mystical and more appealing to watch than just straight catch videos.
Good on you for opting out of changing, what must be a size 10 dry. Catching more fish is just a hassle. You're letting them go again anyway. Thanks for the great vid.
Hey y'all....should we start a go fund me for this kid?? Skipping class, missing birthdays, divorce, unemployed, homeless, sunken boat, the move to Alaska...hes going to need some $
Love the honesty. Grew up fishing Idaho and spoiled because of it. I now live in Arizona and it is some of the toughest small stream fly-fishing I have ever done.
One of my favorite creeks is loaded with 8-12 inch brookies, 10-20 inch browns, and the odd whitefish. Its not always about lunker hunting, these kinds of creeks are intimate water and are always great hiking territory.
Loving the small stream fishing. Pretty browns. Also a 100% likely that Ben has the same running dialog/narrative with or without the Go Pro. And I’m totally OK with that.
This is the way people really fish. At least it's how I fish, too. Silliness, mistakes, successes, fun! Great little stream. Lots of diverse structure and challenges.
Guess now I’m taking an early lunch, and will be gone a Huge amount of time while wading the local creeks, all because of You. Hope I don’t get fired, but if I do, I could come hang out in your fishing holes..but it’s little far from Texas. If it’s called rattlesnake creek here, you better watch your step.🐍😅 Great video as always Ben.👍👍 Thanks for making Monday’s bearable! 🎣
Beavers are a huge benefit to any stream system. They create a bunch of habitat for fish and help with erosion among a list of other things. Keystone species
Great video. Could you please do a video explaining how you manage your running line with your left hand? I’ve noticed that you manage it in a way that keeps it off of the ground by looping it in your fingers. Huge thanks.
You'll have to do another video explaining how to perform all those Long Distance Releases! Not to get to geeky but I'd guess the beaver ponds increased the water temps which did in the brookies. Brown trout can tolerate temperatures near 80°F for short periods of time. Brook trout tolerate brief temps up to 72°F but die if it hits 75°.....
I love your channel because you're a regular guy out fishing. Mainly because you don't seem to be the average fly douche i encounter when I'm out chuckin bugs. They all seem like stuck ups, like they don't want to interact with you or they won't catch fish haha.
I live in Oregon and my home water has no room to back cast any where I do a side to side cast that would probably make most people that actually know proper fly fishing want to chew on a ball of tin foil.
Maybe as the beavers took over the water temps warmed and less oxygen was in the system. Creating a set of circumstances that favored the browns and they outcompeted brookies
@@nickwestin8444 yeah, some natural winged patterns would be: Greenwel's glory, march brown, black gnat, invicta, coachman, and many more. Some un natural and my personal favourite winged wets are: the butcher, the Alexandra, the teal blue and silver, small stoats tails, and many more. And that's just winged wets, we also have spiders. Should be a few to get you started though. Ine last things, we fish them on a swing, not a drift.
@@blacksaltscotland I figured it would be on the swing, didn't know the coachman was Scottish that's sweet. Thanks for the patterns! I need to swing wets more often, I don't do it enough for how effective it can be
Beautiful stream. It reminds me of one I fish in the Uinta Mountains in Utah that’s loaded with cutthroats in the 8-10” range. Lots of fun on a little 2 wt rod. Thanks for the entertaining video.
I really like your hardcore, nononsense approach to fishing! Btw's your ratio was... better then mine would have been, thanks for the entertaining and informative vids.
At least where I live, when you find browns they will usually outcompete the brookies. So you are unlikely to catch brookies from now on u less fishing higher in the headwaters where hopefully it’s colder and no browns have arrived. My 2 cents
Fun vid. Two rules for catch and release survivability: don't handle the fish and keep the fish in the water. Use a submersible camera and a device like the Ketchum Release and it is easy to do. That little wash-up, after you handle the fish and let it go? That is their precious slime that you are washing off your hands. You have a great opportunity to teach people about this, as you film. Tight lines!
Hi Ben I have found some coastal cutthroat in a small stream in Washington state they are super picky when it comes flies I have bought and tried so many flies and I have matched the hatch. My friend can catch them no problem with spinners and trout magnets have any suggestions to catch these picky eaters
Ben "hopefully no one is in my spot"
Also Ben "I haven't fished here in 10 years" 😂
I really appreciate seeing you cast into a tree or bush. Let’s me know I’m not the only one. lol. Thanks for another great video. 😉👍
Pffft... Ben only cast into the same bush 6 times, come fishing with me if you want to see a real pro at snagging flies
heck yeah I'm huge, I fly fish for bluegill and bass almost exclusively but that don't matter fly fishing for anything is fun
I fly fish for little bass and bluegill to keep my casting skills from rusting.
Now this is realistic fishing. I talk to myself just like this when I fish. Man this refreshing. Snags, misses, catches, and makeing wrong moves makes fishing mystical and more appealing to watch than just straight catch videos.
Watching this instead of joining my zoom online classes - I'm huge.

I’m in online school right now. First day of 12th grade Monday 14th, 2020 at 9:30. I miss fishing already😢
Still Huge! Maybe even more huge cause you're multitasking?!?! 🤔
Just wait when you're an adult like me you will have to work instead of fish haha
Hey y'all....should we start a go fund me for this kid?? Skipping class, missing birthdays, divorce, unemployed, homeless, sunken boat, the move to Alaska...hes going to need some $
trails4all lol I’m not skipping. I’m multitasking... totally very different.
@@jonathanhof3834 totally!😉
Ok, I am too early, guess I will have a beer, and play with the drone.
I feel like I am listing to myself on a fishing trip.

You are singlehandely responsible for keeping the Reggae industry going. Fine video, mon.
"Way too lazy to do that." My sentiments exactly. Sometimes it's just easier. (I like one fly days.) Perfection is too demanding.
It’s 7:15 am on a Monday - I’m huge 🍻
I love the fish trip vids. Something about watching that dry fly bob when a fish takes the dropper.
“HE FELT MY STEEL!”...lol
small creeks and huge fly fisherman. An ironic and iconic combo
Small streams like this are so much fun.
Beautiful little creek... bit North East Colorado? I don’t think so! 😄
You have to love prepping for a crowd and finding none.
The early bird gets the brown... Thanks for the vid!!
Huge small stream fishing with the Gecko, yes :-)

Love this content. im an angler from the north shore of lake superior, and this IS small stream fishing! lol
This is what I look forward too every Monday morning

Now that looked like a great day on a small creek with fun fish to catch and no people. Nice

Great way to spend a Saturday morning, nice creek 👍🏻 thanks for bringing us along!
Thanks for the Monday jump start. I'm going fishing.
I guess I’m huge for trying to pass time before my work opens at 5 am on a Monday. Nice nice nice
It’s like watching me fish and I have no idea what it’s still entertaining. Love my little echos on the tiny water too.
yep its monday morning
Dude.... mutch respect cracking open a PBR at 7:30 AM!! 🤘

Hearing you say "another brown trout"...in my area, all we have is stocked rainbows. I would have to travel hours to find browns or brookies.
I have more miles on my wading boots dry than wet 😂
"I wasn't paying attention" - oh thats SO me
Monday afternoon ?
I fish for Brook Trout on a smaller creek than that.

Awsome vid Ben my favorite kind of water and tackle!

Catching them stick fish like s champ. Good stuff, brother
Monday, Sept 14, 9:00am, Work can wait for 20min.
Love small stream fishing but in the PNW theres rarely a good back cast available. You've got it good! That would have been a fun 2wt/3wt creek!
Yeah, it’s hard to find a good brown trout stream like this
I live in Oregon and my home water has no room to back cast any where I do a side to side cast that would probably make most people that actually know proper fly fishing want to chew on a ball of tin foil.
Can beaver dams be a pain just because of water speed? I have to think that the dams making some deeper pools makes for better fishing overall 🤔
Maybe as the beavers took over the water temps warmed and less oxygen was in the system. Creating a set of circumstances that favored the browns and they outcompeted brookies
Great tip on the location, thanks for helping us out!!
From a huge boi from scotland: give some of our wet fly patterns a go. Perfect for those shallow streams
You have pattern names for any of them? I love experimenting with wet flies

I'm digging the Spotify playlist recommendation from one of your live streams. Careless Reggie music really encapsulates my fishing style.
Love the prince nymph dropper!
I thought this was gonna be a normal fishing video then this guy starts cracking beers at 7 lol I like it lol
Did the same in NM 2 weeks back, nice fun
Looks like some beaver trapping might need to be done around there.
Love your videos Ben! Huge fan!!!
Beautiful stream. It reminds me of one I fish in the Uinta Mountains in Utah that’s loaded with cutthroats in the 8-10” range. Lots of fun on a little 2 wt rod. Thanks for the entertaining video.
More butter than a super market bro! Tight lines!

Love the Gecko, Ben!! Have one for my kiddos as well. Fun rod to fish.
Killer vid, super enjoyable to watch. You should do more of these.
My two granddaughters, 6 and 10, both fish with Echo Geckos. They're HUGE. No PBR's though.
Long video Ben is much more chill than memelord /r/flyfishingcirclejerk Ben.
Ffcj ben sure has some good zingers though

Best fishing chanel ever makes it worth waking up early
I'm watching this on a Monday morning!!!
Caught 2 browns yesterday. Missed 4 or 5.
He felt my steel. Dope.
Ben, you are such a FARMER! Stay HUGH! Love the videos.
I thought it was supposed to be a small creek? That's damn near white water for a blue line guy like me who lives in the desert of New Mexico!
Huge college fly fisherman here haha
Oh no, I'm watching on Tuesday
Another great video, and another reason fly fishing is better is you can drink a cool beverage.

Reminds me of Big T fishing, thanks Ben.
Ha ha ha killed it again.
Back handing for brush - my only skill set.
Looks like a perfect place to cane pole fish!
I'm new to all this your rod looked like it had moderate action is it glass? Like a 3-weight or ?? I'm very interested in small water fishing also....
Either fish or walk Ben, don’t do both. 😂😂 Story of my life
Yup. Huge.
That just looks like a blast...
Loving the video. I am a Tuesday viewer so only a large fly fisherman. Not quite huge.
This was awesome. And huge. Loved this one man. 👍💯
Monday Monday, So good to me..... Monday Morning, It was all I hoped it would be....(sudden stylus scratch sound....) Hey I'm Huge!!!!
Echo Gecko heck yeah dude.
another great video! love it!
Rattlesnake creek hu? Yeh I've fished that one too. 😏
You drank a beer before catching a fish.
I was thirsty!
You’re the dude, Ben.
I almost never buy things I see in RUclips videos but I had to have one of those Zland hats
what are those rod holder straps you have going on there
Damn. It's Monday morning.
This would be a great tenkara stream
those brookies you say have disappeared? could be down to handling them with dry hands, maybe?!
I wonder how many creeks are called Rattlesnake creek?
PBR? Now that’s HUGE!!!!!
Um im pretty sure that is the upper LA river in CA
Another great vid. Creek fishing is super fun. 3wt?
Isn't it easier to tye on a barbless hook than pinching the barb on every fly?
