+Peridot Peridot Um, yeah, the Steven Universe fandom is absolutely disgusting. I say that as an avid follower of the show. It's one of many fandoms that embarrasses what it's based on.
Generally a open world adventure doesn't always mean it's a rpg too. Though it could but so far they didn't really reveal stuff like gear, quest, choices and such so it's just another adventure game like last Zelda games. Anyway ya cn Could have made this into a show but they wasted that opportunity and also it's kinda too late now since disney got a show called star vs forces of evil and it already got renewed for s2 even though it only aired 1 episode back in January do to high positive feedback and large fan base already.
Howdy! I just wanted to say this animation is absolutely beautiful it moves so smoothly and the colors are so vivid to whom ever made this "you are amazing!"
It's barely 10 minutes and you say it's better than a 5 seasoned show? Bruh, it's good, it probably has the potential to be better but we can't judge by a 10 min pilot lmao
Okay, it is official... Cartoon Network believes there can't be a show with a female lead. Seriously, you will get a massive fan base from this because what you have isn't a show where you can only do a bunch of episodes that have no point to one another. This has a plot, apparently great characters from the shorts, and a great setting. You could make this it's own thing with both boys and girls, but you got to try...
Adventure Time with Fiona and Cake... not to mention all the female main characters in so many CN shows. Not to mention how Steven Universe has more female than male characters and I'd say that the crystal gems are every bit a lead character as Steven.
Except Fiona and Cake is just a segment on Adventure Time. It's not it's own show, and who are the leads on Adventure Time? Jake and Fin. As for Steven Universe, Steven is the main lead, while the Gems hold a supporting role. I am talking about a show that has a female lead, something like "As Told By Ginger".
Well, the fact that this has a female lead has nothing to do with it anyway. (The Gems are definitely not supporting roles, since they do more than Steven ever does) The reason why it didn't air is because the animation and art style is too good of quality, and CN only takes shows with simpler art styles and animation, because it's more cost effective and that way little kids can draw the characters without much issue. Same reason why Korgoth of Barbaria never got on Adult Swim.
Arvel, the show is called STEVEN Universe, not STEVEN AND THE GEMS Universe. Steven is the MAIN LEAD. The Gems are not. And tell me, how many cartoons have been aimed for everyone that has a female lead? As Told By Ginger, The Wild Thornberries, Kim Possible, the Proud Family, Avatar: The Legend of Korra... A cartoon that has a female lead. Not sharing a lead, not an ensemble, but a main female lead... It's rare for a cartoon like that for it to be targeted for everyone.
Hmm... in addition to the ones you listed: Lady Death, Aeon Flux, Power Puff Girls, Totally Spies, Sailor Moon, Persepolis, Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, RWBY... I could go on, but that is all irrelevant. The reason behind why this show didn't make it on CN has nothing to do with sexism.
How come crap like Teen Titans Go! can be on Cartoon Network and Pacman on Disney XD but this ISN"T ON TV AT ALL! Like this is amazing, it's got the a great story line with amazing animation with stunning characters. They could do a whole series on her going between earth and gemworld! Amy, i think her name was, is a female lead who doesn't need the help of a prince, since the prince ain't worth shit. It's not like most shows with a female lead, about bonding with friends and girll power with rainbows and glitterpens. It's about an average legit gamer girl who happens to go to another world after playing a game. HOW IS THIS NOT A MAJOR THING!? Plus it's funny as hell in the right ways
Not only is Amy a legit gamer, but she was actually the one who made the game, she said she made it in this show, which is really AWESOME!!!:D I also think she's hot, both in her human form and her princess form:D
Because kids don't like plot development, fluid animation, and well thought out characters. They like cartoons to be dumb and funny, and that's their target audience, it's easy for them to just publish shows like Teen Titans Go and Uncle Grandpa cuz it's easy to make and kids kinda like that they're stupid. So unfortunately, CN and Disney focus on pleasing little kids rather young adults and teens because there's a larger sum of kids watching than young adults :/
Alex True I've seen so little kids that enjoy uncle grandpa and teen titans go and more that enjoy stuff like adventure time, steven universe, and gravity falls. kids are the target audience but the heads of networks like disney and cartoon network do want to dumb things down because they think only little kids are going to enjoy them. Just because they don't believe kids can enjoy well-plotted shows doesn't mean it's true.
Fun fact: The artist that design for this show also work for Parry Gripp music video like Space Unicorn and Banana Cat. Her name is Brianne Drouhand and recently make a Webcomic title Harpy Gee.
I WAS LOOKING FOR THIS FOR YEARS. I was so convinced this was a series of shorts based on the marvel character "Magik" because all I remembered was "blonde hair" "sword" and "comic book character" I would never have found this without chatgpt, that's insane.
I loved this short mini sires and was so exited when I first saw it because at the time this was on TV I was reading my dads entire collection of the amethyst comics!^^
I've been reading through her series and I love that even though I'm sure it was pitched as a simple changeling fantasy aimed at young girls, they went ahead and just made it one of the bloodiest and most hardcore comic series I've ever seen.
Am I the only one dying a little because almost everyone is like "I came here because it looks like Steven universe" or "this looks like a Steven universe ripoff" This came out way before SU. In fact, SU probably was inspired by this. It was a DC comic series that became an animation. It's not a rip off of SU I don't watch SU and these comments make me glad I didn't.
Don't make the fandom ruin the show for you. The fandom is completely rude and immature. The show is actually really good. It has plot, developing characters, and the animation is visually pleasing. I just ignore the fandom and enjoy the show. By the way, the fandom is completely wrong. This is nothing like the show. Just because they have gem names and can summon weapons doesn't mean one is ripping off of the other.
You know they didn't make this, right? This is a compilation of shorts shown on Cartoon Network around 2010-ish. They, in turn, are a reinterpretation of a comic book series from the 1980s called Amethyst: Princess of Gemworld, which is very different from these shorts.
True, but the original Amethyst comics started coming in 1983 the same year the He-Man cartoon came out. She-Ra minicomics didn't even start until 1984 and she wasn't a well known character until 1985. So Amethyst came before She-Ra.
2013....2013!! Really!? I've missed this piece of freaking art for 2 years! Wtf! How is this not a huge thing? Its colorful, funny, and not a typical everything's pink because we've got a girl lead. I am in love with this~
+Angelpip123 It was originally supposed to air the year prior until execs decided to pull down DC Nation. Then it returned at the beginning of 2013 with the first of these shorts.
Well, here's the story - Princess Amethyst was born on Gemworld but sent to Earth as a baby after Dark Opal came along. - The videogame portal is based on DC's personal multiverse theory, where a comic writer can gain psychic insight into that universe and sometimes influence it (in current times of Bob Harras with Dan Didio before himand Geoff Johns, for ills). - There were comics where Amethyst fought along side with Superman (ironically, got his ass whopped due to his weakness to magic and kryptonite), daughter of Lord of Order, and finally killed off in Flashpoint then join a team with Constantine and Zatanna in New 52.
This so cute. Glad i found it and wish it was a full show. To people comparing this to SU. The original comic came out decades before SU. At best Rebecca might have read the comics as a child and named some characters in honor of the comic.
This was AWESOME!!! Also, I am SO glad that there is more than one show that uses gem names as human names, because that was I feel more confident with naming some of my characters after gems without people accusing me of copying off Steven Universe.
A DC magical girl cartoon?? This is amazing, i always want a magical girl show that is aimed towards a wide variety of audiences. (I guess star vs the forces of evil count? But this more suitable for my taste)
Considering to how a large chunk of the comment section are comparing it to "Steven Universe" it makes me wonder if that show was partly influenced from this 1980's comic, "Amethyst, Princess of Gemworld".
I love your Cooro profile picture.
No, the name is just coincidence with stone topics. If you watched a channel where they sell gemstones it would remind SU fans of it too.

And then, Prince Topaz went out into the world and tried conquering the castle Greyskull under the alias, "Skeletor".
DUDE LITERALLY JUST SAID IT DANGEROUS TO GO ALONE, TAKE THIS!!
XD ZELDA REFRENCE.
does the other SU fans here not know this was made before Steven universe? Ashamed of the fandom I'm in.
EDIT: Jfc I wish people would stop giving this comment attention already
Ikr
Was this animation short series made by Rebacca Sugar or something? Why are you ashamed?...
hello Peridot peridot
+Peridot Peridot Um, yeah, the Steven Universe fandom is absolutely disgusting. I say that as an avid follower of the show. It's one of many fandoms that embarrasses what it's based on.
+Peridot Peridot I remember when this was on sat morning during DC nation
This is the best Fanime ever. Crystal Gems and Anime fans will love this for sure!
it's a cartoon
The Legend of U Fanime = Animation/Cartoon
Hyper Pheonix it also equals unofficial. This is a complete official cartoon short
The Legend of U K
+Hyper Pheonix this isn't a "fanime", this is an official animation series by DC. This came before Steven Universe as well.
that zelda reference though
and the skeleton reminds me of papyrus a little
+Wolf Fang Alot of people are saying that and the talking flowers remind some people of flowey
Man, this really takes me back. Wild that it's been over a decade.
Why this wasn't made into a proper series when TTG was, I'll never know.
Why the fuck is this not a show. It's literally every RPG, such as Legend of Zelda, and JRPG's like Final Fantasy.
Just to point this out... Legend of Zelda is in *no way* an RPG
It was not a show because of Teen Titans Go! :v
ChrisTheSheriff Good point, I was thinking of the newer one that's coming out for the Wii U.
ChrisTheSheriff What about Zelda 2.
This show alone would restore my faith in TV.
1:34 "She's too pink and dainty"
Says the one who's literally wearing a pink dress.
this is terribly adorable!
Rose Barnhill what an oxymoron
This somewhat reminds me of the anime/manga of Magic Knight Rayearth.
That's the same feeling I had when Anne, Marcy and Sasha became powerful in Amphibia.
Howdy! I just wanted to say this animation is absolutely beautiful it moves so smoothly and the colors are so vivid to whom ever made this "you are amazing!"
I personally think this better than Steven Universe
Ultmation Nation it is
Nah
It's barely 10 minutes and you say it's better than a 5 seasoned show?
Bruh, it's good, it probably has the potential to be better but we can't judge by a 10 min pilot lmao
Look u made me mad but im not one of theme u don't *want* to even talk to theme
@@apocalypse_march1499 exactly it's only 10 minutes long and it already has a better fanbase
We...
are NOT the Crystal Gems
we're some sort of anime
and if you think it's wrong
they'll do it anyway!
hahaha
Clever af
that's what the fans of this show, believe in
princess amethyst, and am'thyst
and horse
omg this is perfect
Perfect
Not only is Amy a legit gamer, but she was actually the one who made the game, she said she made it in this show, which is really AWESOME!!!:D I also think she's hot, both in her human form and her princess form:D
she made the game, EVEN BETTER!
***** I mean no offence by what I said and I hope you don't take it offensively
4:13 "It's dangerous to go alone, take this" Zelda Reference!
Something about this just reminds me of the old Zelda cartoon - but obviously a lot better :D
This is the face I make when I orgasim Nope, sorry, it's a Mario reference.
_Of course it's a Zelda reference._
That's a rapey tree vibe anyone feel that
Finally someone who said it
Ikr
I'l take this over ttg and ppg any day
DAHOM 2015 1416 and over the Ben ten reboot
I WAS LOOKING FOR THIS FOR YEARS. I was so convinced this was a series of shorts based on the marvel character "Magik" because all I remembered was "blonde hair" "sword" and "comic book character" I would never have found this without chatgpt, that's insane.
Well that was a fun entire TV series I just watched.
And Disney's beauty and the beast even more awesomer than ever before
Am I the only one dying a little because almost everyone is like "I came here because it looks like Steven universe" or "this looks like a Steven universe ripoff"
This came out way before SU. In fact, SU probably was inspired by this. It was a DC comic series that became an animation. It's not a rip off of SU
I don't watch SU and these comments make me glad I didn't.
Arriaah Ara only the bad part of the Su fandom comments thing like that
its a really good show, there are just those ppl who make the fandom look bad :P
Its not like sreven universe at all so I highly doubt it was even seen by Rebecca sugar
Just because they have gem names and can summon weapons doesn't mean one is ripping off of the other.
honestly though they're not even alike.
maybe they mention gems but the story line is way different
This should have been a tv show. I would watch it.
So... if this is a short of DC, someone knows who comic is based on?
I think she looks like starfire
+Kitty Bug The comic is also called "Amethyst: Princess of Gemworld". Look it up.
+Jangobadass oh got it...I never heard about it xD thank's :3
This is a pilot I think...
sans the skeleton I hope. It's really good.
+Jaden Curtis it does
She looks like the coolest version of Starfire.
and raven mixed together
Omg I love this style! It gave me shivers! This is amazing, you're so talented. ♥ ♥ ♥
You know they didn't make this, right? This is a compilation of shorts shown on Cartoon Network around 2010-ish. They, in turn, are a reinterpretation of a comic book series from the 1980s called Amethyst: Princess of Gemworld, which is very different from these shorts.
its like madoka magica and steven universe had a baby
Albert Adan Amethyst actually predates most "Magical Girl" series.
Albert Adan And The Legend of Zelda
Albert Adan This isn't in anyway close to Madoka Magica wtf.
TheMagnificentPony ummm whaaaat?
TheMagnificentPony You're garbage
This feels more like Shera or Magical Knights Rayearth than Steven universe.
I would love to see Amethyst of Gemworld get adapted into a show like Netflix’s She-Ra was
I mean it kinda feels like if you took all three and mixed them together
@@orinanime actually yeah, that is more accurate.
I am in love with this~
I love this too, it's a shame that this isn't a TV show.
+Angelpip123 It was originally supposed to air the year prior until execs decided to pull down DC Nation. Then it returned at the beginning of 2013 with the first of these shorts.
+Angelpip123 She's not pink! She's purple! Get it?
Vitamin C. B. Purple, the cooler shade of pink :p
I love magical girl cartoons
Guilty! I guess I can thank Sailor Moon for that! :)
Is this a real show?
Nhu Y Just a short.
will it ever become a real show?where did the originate from?
Nhu Y 1) Probably not.
2) Based on a lesser known DC Comic book (with some "Mahou Shojo" anime flavoring)
ok thx for telling me
It's a short from CN,
Well, here's the story
- Princess Amethyst was born on Gemworld but sent to Earth as a baby after Dark Opal came along.
"It's dangerous to go alone, take this."
>_>
This so cute. Glad i found it and wish it was a full show.
To people comparing this to SU. The original comic came out decades before SU.
At best Rebecca might have read the comics as a child and named some characters in honor of the comic.
It's cool.
The art style's nice.
I just wish it wasn't so rushed.
How is this so well animated?!?!?
Seeing this makes me wonder if anyone would watch Amethyst's story in the DC Comics retold in an animated series.
This was AWESOME!!! Also, I am SO glad that there is more than one show that uses gem names as human names, because that was I feel more confident with naming some of my characters after gems without people accusing me of copying off Steven Universe.
This needs to have full 15 minute episodes with completely developed storyline with deep conflict. It would be a huge thing.
A DC magical girl cartoon?? This is amazing, i always want a magical girl show that is aimed towards a wide variety of audiences. (I guess star vs the forces of evil count? But this more suitable for my taste)
I wish DC would start making more cartoons Marvels been kicking here asses lately in every category.
Awww, it's just a cute little fast-paced RPG based short animation series
