I like the little nods to Greek mythology, like Zeus referring to Hera as his "beloved peacock", Hades trying to ask Persephone out, Athena having a pet owl, and Kronos jokingly saying "I just want to eat you all up."
While there are moments of awkward framing, long silences, and odd line deliveries, the actual look of the show is very polished. The limited budget and manpower may show, but the designs offer a decent smokescreen. Especially Hera. When it comes to designs, she clearly came out on top. They look marketing team approved, so very well done. Plus, all of this done by one artist? My wrist is cramping just thinking about it. That alone deserves some recognition. At the end of the day, who cares about a few awkward silences when one person animated a web series that looks this good? Plus, it's interesting to see how the source materials will be adapted for the story being told. That's what makes greek mythology reworkings so fascinating.

I see a lot of people complaining about innacuracy, but this is a project based souley on volounteers and some money. We cant expect too much, its free and its quite entertaining to watch!^^
It's also extra harsh considering not a SINGLE Greek myth based movie or tv show I know of or have seen is actually accurate to the actual myths. They ALL take liberties and do what they want. That's the point of art! To take something old and make something new out of it. I hate that people are complaining about it just to complain. The only negatives I could even say about this is it has awkward pauses/silences in between dialog and some of the recording quality isn't great or level, but that is easily fixed!

Only complaint I have is there’s a lot of awkward pauses and some of their facial expressions are hard to read. I think maybe a better sound design for future episodes would help along with taking some more time to emphasize the specific expressions you want to get across! Overall the story seems neat and for it to all be done by such a small team is very impressive!

cecily boyd yeah and then Zeus teamed up with a nymph (I think?) and made his father spit out the other kids then later married said nymph and proceeded to absorb his pregnant wife. Athena still lived so his plan kinda backfired.
I am writing this because I think this has the potential to be something truly magnificent. But before I get into the criticisms, I do think it is important to state the positives of this project, so that it is not all negative feedback. 1. The animation and art style are great. 2. The concept is fantastic and has the potential for some amazing drama and comedy 3. The voice acting for a project in this medium is great. 4. There are defiantly the roots in this first episode for some really fun and/or interesting plot lines (Aphrodite and Hephaestus for and example) Something that is a positive and kind of a negative: The character design. I like the way that the characters are designed for this series. However, with the exception of some of the male gods (Zeus, Hades, Dionysus) and Athena, I couldn't really tell who some of these gods were supposed to be. I'm not a huge mythology buff, so that might be the problem, but I feel like when I watch a movie like Disney's Hercules or play video games like Smite of God of War, I can tell who each god is supposed to be because of their character design, but I don't full get that here. Constructive Criticisms 1. The pauses between the dialogue. I kind of get why that's here, because live action film does it on several occasions. However, with film the pauses enable good actors to use their faces to express feelings, and unless in the hands of a major animation studio with hundreds of artists and millions of dollars behind the projects, animation can't really do that. Because of the pauses, several lines of dialogue and several scenes came off as awkward. I put this first because it bleeds into the other criticisms. 2. Sound design/Music. Another reason the pauses didn't quite work is because there is not much sound of music in this. If their was music to help illustrate what the character was feeling during the pauses, than maybe they would have worked better, but for now not so much. 3. Dialogue. This is less of a criticism for this video but is something that I hope is improved upon in future installments of the series. The dialogue is by no means bad, but it does leave a little to be desired. It does help establish several characters and some motivations, but I think the dialogue in the future could be used a bit more to establish and later flesh out these characters a bit more. I think the dialogue should and could be used to make this something that people think about when they think of something based on Greek mythology. I spent the time to write this long comment because I do believe that this project has the potential to be something special. If these criticisms get adjusted/fixed as the series goes on, and this series plays to the strengths that it does have, I do think it could be a truly unique and great animated show.
I agree with you. It has really much potential but those pauses in dialogues made the overall pace feel little slow, at least for me. Maybe if the pauses were used to tell us more, add more dialogue in there. I think it would increase the pace just nicely. Still, the animation is awesome and I like the designs so I hope to see more in the future! Keep up the good work!

Character designs are really cute, and I like the idea, but the pacing is a bit weird and you guys REALLY need to get someone on that sound design issue.

She was the daughter of Chaos, out of which all creation originated, and the sister of Erebus, Gaea and Tartarus. So she was neither a titan or a goddess. Her daughter in that video is a goddess though

Today is the five-year anniversary of the first episode of GodsSchool! And the 8th episode has just been published, "Hera and Zeus". It is amazing how this series has grown and evolved over time! I love GodsSchool so much, I hope than one day Netflix will discover it. It is simply perfect and addictive, I am a huge fan. 🤩😍

Exactly my thoughts. The pacing needs a lot of work. There are a lot of awkward silence moments between the frames. The concept is definitely interesting but the animation needs more work. Just as you say. Other than that it’s great. There’s a lot of same face syndrome going on with the ladies as well.
I know it's not mythologically accurate, but it's stuff like this that gets kids interested in Greek mythology so that they look into the real stuff later.
Actually there are different stories to this one dictates that she putties the poor girl coz according to another plot Arachne actually lost and was doomed to never weave again so she turned her into a spider so the girl could do what she loved most forever. Also same with Medusa, while the turning men to stone is a curse, according to other historical texts it was to actually help Medusa get away from the grubby men chasing her Posidon even raped the poor girl in Athena's temple.

I see a lot of people complaining about innacuracy, but this is a project based souley on volounteers and some money.
We cant expect too much, its free and its quite entertaining to watch!^^
It's also extra harsh considering not a SINGLE Greek myth based movie or tv show I know of or have seen is actually accurate to the actual myths. They ALL take liberties and do what they want. That's the point of art! To take something old and make something new out of it. I hate that people are complaining about it just to complain.
The only negatives I could even say about this is it has awkward pauses/silences in between dialog and some of the recording quality isn't great or level, but that is easily fixed!

Only complaint I have is there’s a lot of awkward pauses and some of their facial expressions are hard to read. I think maybe a better sound design for future episodes would help along with taking some more time to emphasize the specific expressions you want to get across! Overall the story seems neat and for it to all be done by such a small team is very impressive!

I am writing this because I think this has the potential to be something truly magnificent. But before I get into the criticisms, I do think it is important to state the positives of this project, so that it is not all negative feedback.
1. The animation and art style are great.
2. The concept is fantastic and has the potential for some amazing drama and comedy
3. The voice acting for a project in this medium is great.
4. There are defiantly the roots in this first episode for some really fun and/or interesting plot lines (Aphrodite and Hephaestus for and example)
Something that is a positive and kind of a negative: The character design. I like the way that the characters are designed for this series. However, with the exception of some of the male gods (Zeus, Hades, Dionysus) and Athena, I couldn't really tell who some of these gods were supposed to be. I'm not a huge mythology buff, so that might be the problem, but I feel like when I watch a movie like Disney's Hercules or play video games like Smite of God of War, I can tell who each god is supposed to be because of their character design, but I don't full get that here.
Constructive Criticisms
1. The pauses between the dialogue. I kind of get why that's here, because live action film does it on several occasions. However, with film the pauses enable good actors to use their faces to express feelings, and unless in the hands of a major animation studio with hundreds of artists and millions of dollars behind the projects, animation can't really do that. Because of the pauses, several lines of dialogue and several scenes came off as awkward. I put this first because it bleeds into the other criticisms.
2. Sound design/Music. Another reason the pauses didn't quite work is because there is not much sound of music in this. If their was music to help illustrate what the character was feeling during the pauses, than maybe they would have worked better, but for now not so much.
3. Dialogue. This is less of a criticism for this video but is something that I hope is improved upon in future installments of the series. The dialogue is by no means bad, but it does leave a little to be desired. It does help establish several characters and some motivations, but I think the dialogue in the future could be used a bit more to establish and later flesh out these characters a bit more. I think the dialogue should and could be used to make this something that people think about when they think of something based on Greek mythology.
I spent the time to write this long comment because I do believe that this project has the potential to be something special. If these criticisms get adjusted/fixed as the series goes on, and this series plays to the strengths that it does have, I do think it could be a truly unique and great animated show.
I agree with you. It has really much potential but those pauses in dialogues made the overall pace feel little slow, at least for me. Maybe if the pauses were used to tell us more, add more dialogue in there. I think it would increase the pace just nicely.
Still, the animation is awesome and I like the designs so I hope to see more in the future! Keep up the good work!

Exactly my thoughts. The pacing needs a lot of work. There are a lot of awkward silence moments between the frames. The concept is definitely interesting but the animation needs more work. Just as you say. Other than that it’s great. There’s a lot of same face syndrome going on with the ladies as well.

To put it in a more understandable way think the gap between Disney's "sleeping Beauty" and "Maleficent." Hardly the same thing similar in a way but the differences are obvious.
