- Monsters and shootouts abound in this animated western comedy following an overconfident kid, his apathetic partner, and a spider-girl with some serious boundary issues. What will it take to save CliffSide from some rather unconventional evil in the surrounding cliffs, and will our hero ever actually learn anything?
Episode 1 - "Pilot"
Getting tangled up with an excitable spider-monster named Cordie who suffers from a validation complex to rival his own, Waylon quickly learns his bold gunslinger talk leads to horrifying actions when put into practice by his new super-fan. Now he’s got some explaining to do and a western standoff or two to perform if he hopes to scrape by without learning anything from this whole ordeal.

You can see a lot of this pilot's DNA in Murder Drones, from the twisted grins, to the dangerous to helpful secondary character, to the offbeat tone that is only like 40% serious.

I love how many things from this got transferred into Murder Drones, especially the shot of Cordie catching the bullet being mirrored by V in ep6

Yeah. I'm glad he's getting popular with Murder Drones, but personally I liked this concept way better. I'd watch this show RELIGIOUSLY. Hoping it gets sole sort of continuation one day...
Words cannot express how mad I am at the fact that this hasn't been made into a real thing. From the first time I saw it 4 years ago, to now, it still slaps as hard. There are so many things in the pilot that are just genius, such as the 4th wall breaking and how it's executed, to the music choices and expertise in knowing when to cut it off, to create horror or comedic effect. I would genuinely watch an entire series of this if it was made into a thing. This has massive potential and I hope it gets made into something real. This is quite literally a masterpiece, no sugarcoating.
This Pilot is so hooking, and every time I watch this I get more intrigued about the universe. Words cannot describe how much I am already hooked on this universe. I could seriously just ramble and rant on about how much I want to see this as a series. Please, if you can, and you want to, do make this into a series. This has so much potential to be a great series, and I would support it!
Well Murder Drones more than makes up for it IMO, and perhaps Liam will revive this series with the funding from Glitch once Murder Drones is over.

I’ve known about cliffside for a couple years at this point but I just keep coming back to it and rewatching it. Something about its comedic timing, slightly supernatural setting, and the amazing character that is Cordy keeps the pilot fresh, exciting, and hilarious even with the amount of times I’ve rewatched it.

Cordie is similar to N more, in my opinion. From the similar design / color palette (yellow colored eyes + hair, and if you look at the clothes they are similar) to the fact that both looked scary and threatening at first, but then we found out that they are cute.

Well we have Terry Pratchett's _The Hogfather_ where an assassin tries to kill the winter god Hogfather (basically Santa Claus) and Death temporarily takes over the Hogfather's job and manipulates his own granddaughter into investigating the case.

Cordy's teeth is really similar to the disassembly drone's mouth structures. I think that the design of the teeth placement with Cordy is either an early draft, or Murder Drones is using it as a reference. Cool asf, loved this pilot

Its referring to the accent found in the southern part of America. It's hard to explain culture, but I think its that she was angry enough to drop her more "refined" way of speaking and slip into the accent.
Looking at the humor in the rest of the episode, it could also be a jab at the fact that the previous line was spoken differently from everything else she said.

A rare upside of depression, moderate cynicism, and having no other individual compliment me. I just didn't trust their motivations because their behavior was a serious outlier. must have taken hella time to Animate Cordie's Face (especially the Eyes when the Iris are constantly shifting) (i love it) and Death's Arms (also love this)🧡
& i like the design of the Characters overall, especially Death's 3-dimensional Hands & and his Rift ability (8:38), Cordie's Face & the Idea of giving the big Spider Crab-like Claws (since Crabs are to some amount big Spiders, so it would probably make sense for such a Creature to develop those)👍

I don't think we will see a new cliffside episode any time soon. Liam vickers is working on another series right now (murder drones).
I think that "Background street crosser" is what got me laughing here the most. Its all amazing, but the casual "Oh, there I go!" After being launched by DEATH ITSELF has the same energy as Vsauce Micheal holding a watermelon on a roof and saying "I am in control."
Imagine if at the end of the series, he’s revealed to be some powerful god, and that’s why he survived being mauled and being flung by LITERAL death.

I like the end because it basically alludes to the fact that the main character isn’t actually adorably innocent and incompetent but is in fact a capable murderer.
Either that or he's thinking about taking credit for a murder to look more dastardly, which I'm sure will go GREAT for him XD

Voice acting is more of 6/10 for me.
Their lines were decent but the delivery was kinda awkward.
The animation is closer to a 4/10, it feels a bit stilted and the moith movements of the pterodactyl were pretty bad, but i can see promise and improvement in it.

Spider girl reminds me of Kerrigan from Starcraft (zerg queen), another horrifically cute one. the main guy though, tedious and unfunny.
