Honestly an underrated coming out scene is in the Rocko's modern life Netflix special, when they've been looking for "Ralph" for ages but then she's like "I'm not Ralph anymore, I'm Rachel" and everyone is just instantly supportive like "Wow that's so cool"
Luz and Norma's were definitely my favorite. Norma coming out was awkward and weird and relieving. Luz coming out was cute and although coming out is really scary TOH showed that, with certain people, it isn't that scary, and showed it more as something nice than something anxiety-inducing. Both felt very nice with Luz's being super sweet and adorable and Norma's being super relatable and just sudden and awkward. But every one of these were great.
Yeah, those are two of my favourites too! Norma's felt so realistic and powerful, and Luz's is just so cute and full of joy, and I love them so much! but yeah, all of these are cool imo :)
exactly sem here. i cried to. i even cried to a lesbian book i was reading. i cry whn parents accept them and think how my parents will react. i am scared. btw did u come out?
The fact that an animated show can make someone feel more safe, loved and accepted than their own parents/most of society can really shows how cruel this world can be

idk if it counts but rachel coming out as trans to her dad in rockos modern life static cling made me feel a lot of things. it was 2019 and she was the first trans cartoon character i had ever seen portrayed in a positive light. it meant a lot to me.
@@gaycartoons in Inanimate Insanity (don't know if it counts since it's a webseries), there's three characters confirmed to be part of the LGBTQ+ community (idk if I'm missing one); Paintbrush, Lightbulb, and Bot. as a bi woman Norma's whole arc made me cry! Screw you, Netflix for cancelling this incredible show!! But thank you to the creators who made it in the first place. ❤
I just wanna say one thing to all the LGBTQ+ people out there. NEVER...EVER feel ashamed of who you are, no matter what; love every part of yourself. In my opinion, the world's a much more interesting place with "strange" people in it. Look at me; blind in one eye, slightly heavy, still live at home with my parents, lived with a neurological condition since I was 2 weeks old, I'm eccentric, I watch cartoons (despite being thirty-seven,) I believe both Biblical figures AND mythical creatures exist AND I have a reading level that was dubbed college grade since I was eight
I agree! And I've also supported lgbtq since I first found out that guys can like guys and girls can like girls (which was when I was 6, when my sister told me she liked a girl)
@@Spindlepegasus Agreed, even if we have our own REAL "Emperor Belos" type figure in Ron DeSantis or Trump...we can't let THEIR evil ways stop us from being who we are
As heartwarmingly adorable the Lumity reveal was, I also wished it was spoken, like Luz nervous to say it and Amity giving her encouragement to do so, maybe being the one to suggest something out there for them to do.
I think it works better how it is, tbh. It’s so casual in a way I think was really needed. Not every coming out situation will be anxiety-inducing. Sometimes it really is that simple. And narratively, I don’t feel like Luz and Camila have the kind of relationship where Luz would feel nervous about coming out to her. Camila already accepted Luz as she was before she even went to the Boiling Isles. Like, of all the things Camila had to accept about Luz (including basically becoming a mother/caretaker of 6 practically overnight), the most normal of those things is her being bi.
Luz’s coming out scene made me squeal with happiness. The fact that Camila was so happy for her and immediately supportive of both Luz and her relationship with Amity was just beautiful ❤️
Luz just feels Really Happy with Amity, her coming out scene was something Camila couldn’t possibly reject because she learned to accept her daughter for who she is…. Weirdo and Bisexual…
My favorite was Terry’s coming out. They were all nice, but the fact Viren, who had a total hatred for elves, didn’t make a big deal of it and complimented him. It warmed my heart.
0:28 Funfact! The creators of rwby actually have multiple shows with gay representation and inclusivity with their most popular show (rvb) having I believe 4-10-ish characters that are in the community or are hinted at being in the community. The characters are Kai (bi), Donut (gay, possibly trans), muggins (bi), grif (implied bi), Simmons (implied trans man and gay) Chrovos (cannon trans woman), Washington (implied gay man), Tucker (implied gay and possibly trans), and doc (gay). Keep in mind this show was made in 2001, and is honestly pretty inclusive for being pretty early to diversity in shows.
My moms reaction to me telling her I’m bi was saying “okay, are you sure?” And her reaction to me saying I’m trans a guy was the usual “you’ll grow out of it” with just a touch of “I can start saying you’re my child instead” and like, a week later it was very clear she either forgot or just didn’t care. Tldr: all I got out of coming out to my mom as bi and trans was an awkward conversation and some lies.
@user-is3xl8sn2x She didn't accept their child for who they were, if that's a w, then the mom of ugly duckling is a w You can say "w" all you want but that's not gonna make it true. I don't even care enough to make a reply so idk why I'm replying anyway, just kinda mad I guess. Bye forever stranger
Terry is so sweet and i was so surprised that they actually canonically mentioned that he's trans. also pretty awesome that one of the main villains of the show isn't transphobic. Viren may be evil, but he has standards.
I love Terry sm too!! and I think it's super cool we got his coming out on-screen. and Viren really said "I may be evil, but I draw the line at transphobia", which is honestly very iconic of him.
@@gaycartoons right? it's unfortunate that most cartoons are restricted from mentioning it canonically but a few have been allowed to, and that's great progress. and tbh i really liked Viren in this season. it almost feels like he'll get a redemption arc, which i never really saw coming, considering how much of an asshole he was in the previous seasons. I'm also really enjoying Claudia's villain arc. really cool to see the two basically switch places.
I makes sense actually. Viren's motivations are all about evening the playing field between humans and the other races. To him and claudia, dark magic represents a way to transend the limitations of their birth and become something more. Sure, Callum learned how to use an arcanum, and perhaps other humans could as well, but most elves and dragons think of humans as lesser beings. In his own way I think Viren understands what it's like to be trapped in the limitations others ascribe for you and want to beak free. He sees Terry as someone that wouldn't let others tell him what he could be and transmuted himself into something better. Possibly literally since I don't imagine elves have hormone therapy.
now the new season will keep me on my toes cause I wonder how terry will handle Claudia becoming so much more dark and evil. i hope he doesn't leave claudia but also stays himself
@@buzzfrombackrooms cry about it. because there are, and there'll keep being, because queer people exist, queer children exist, and there's nothing inappropriate about kids seeing us existing.
@B U Z Z But it is normal. If you don’t think it is that’s your opinion, but you might want to put that on your own comment instead of forcing your opinion onto someone else’s comment chain.
Terry coming out was so wholesome to me. He trusted Viren and we get to see Viren growing into a better person. I don't want Viren to be a villain. He deserves to spend his days as a regular person. I wonder how different he would've been if he wasn't a dark mage.
i think raul's scene feels the most realistic, kat doesnt really bring up gender, just doesnt ask any questions and treats him like anyone else. you can see rauls reaction to that being positive :) that whole movie dealt with him very nicely, they acknowledged it yet didnt make it his only character trait. i also loved how they showed his mom sticking up for him when people misgendered him, it warmed my heart
I know this isn't exactly a coming out scene but I like the scene in the final episode of Gravity Falls where Sheriff Blubs and Deputy Durland more or less confirm that their relationship is romantic. Especially the "Zap Zap we're mad with power, and love" quote.
I love that one too! it's phrased in a lovely way and Viren's reaction is just this, understated support that means a lot (especially from a character who's a 'bad guy')
3:02 Honestly....love that line....love the times where characters can just open up about stuff that bothers them without having to feel like it needs or has to be fixed somehow and they can just talk about it and thats it
@@theultimitelifeform8548 yeah it's such a good scene. I get this too, I'm not binary trans but I'm non-binary and a lesbian and it's like... I'm either being something I'm not, or I'm being "different" in a way everyone knows about. It'd sometimes be nice not to be othered, but to still be respected for who I am. (Obvs recognising it's a privilege in the first place that my marginalisations aren't immediately visible)
I’m not crying. I’m just so happy that the world has gotten to a place where these characters can exist and not be the but of the joke, or that being LGBT would make something wrong with them. I’m so glad that these characters aren’t demonized and that they can exist at all.
Thank you for including may marigold!! She is my absolute favorite (one of them) and rwby is also a very loved show to me aswell so thank you for including that! Waiting for bmblb to "come out" now lol
Would love to see a second part of this! I would also love to see the addition of Todd Chavez coming out as ace. It's probably the best ace representation that exists on TV, and it's incredibly realistically handled!
I know it sounds wrong, but I would like to see a scene where there is a build up to the character coming out to their parents, but then the parents don’t actually accept them, that would be relatable and realistic for many people
I totally understand what you mean! it's important to show some of the harsher realities of our experiences. tbh I think that's been done a *lot* though, just usually in live action? so in some of these animated shows targeting kids, it's important to show the accepting and happy side! i totally get what you mean, though.
honestly the characters saying it out loud is just... really validating it doesn't feel forced, the characters genuinely struggle with it and want to share it just hhhh i need to watch paranormal park💕💕💕
I can understand the relief you feel when you finally come out, i told my mom im bi in October or September of last year and the feeling of relief is just the best feeling
Oh my God I’m an idiot I didn’t realize Terry was coming out as trans I wasn’t paying that much attention I just thought he meant he was strong or something but geez that makes so much more sense
ahaha someone else said this too!! i think we're just kind of not used to rep so sometimes miss it lol, but yeah, i think he says 'doe' (female deer) and 'buck' (male deer) just bc of the elf thing, otherwise it's a pretty standard coming-out speech!! anyways, glad you know now :))
@@FA-Z-GAMER lol yep, 100%! I think a lot of people maybe didn't realise because they didn't know 'doe' and 'buck' are gendered terms or didn't contextualise because he didn't say 'girl' and 'guy' or whatever :)
This happened to me with Jo from the Lumberjanes, that I was reading something that mentioned she was trans and was confused where that had been said, but when I went back and read the comic again I was like how did I miss this? The funny thing is it was really obvious too and I just somehow skipped a page or wasn't paying attention or something.
My favorite coming out scene is Bridget in guilty gear strive, it meant the world to me seeing her accept who she wanted to be and receive so much support from Goldlewis and Ky!
I was exclaiming "AWWWWWW!" when they kissed. I was ALSO IMAGING how Kenji would've reacted to them kissing too and when I was watching the part when Yaz was telling Ben about her feelings about Sammy I was just picturing Kenji and Brooklynn's reactions while overhearing her while ALSO helping Ben pick berries for firecracker. GOD....if ONLY kenji was in season 5 for the same amount of time as he was SUPPOSED TO for the last 4 SEASONS.
One of my personal favourite instance of an animated character coming out is Todd from Bojack Horseman finally announcing to the world that he’s ace! Seeing him go to the ace gathering, feeling welcomed and loved was incredible to see!!
My friends are so supportive of me and I’m so great full for them. Back in fourth grade I was a big ole queer mess honestly I thought I was lesbian but during the summer I got a crush on a dude named Hayden I’ve also had a crush on three of my closest friends. This year is my first year where I can proudly stand up and say… I’m bi
The best one was the one about Raul. Literally nobody care (except that one man on the phone with his mother in the movie) and that’s sooo great. If you want to you should definitely watch the movie, there’re so many other awesome scenes
thank god theres no little "sigma" kids in this comment section as a trans girl this video kinda made me think more about coming out to my parents but that's not happening anytime soon because they hate anything and everything lgbtq and they'd hate me evenmorewhenitellthemimbitoo
oh there've been tons of shit comments unfortunately but I hide them all bc no one needs to see that! I'm sorry things are that way with your parents. I really hope things get better. remember everyone's journey is different and you shouldn't feel any pressure to come out before you're ready! sending support, I'm proud of you
@@novaspec404 It's truly disheartening to hear about your struggle, and I want you to know that you're not alone. Coming out as trans can be a challenging journey, and it's understandable that you're hesitant to share your truth with your parents, especially given their stance on LGBTQ matters. But remember, your true self is valid and important, and you deserve to be respected and accepted for who you are. Luz and Norma's were definitely my favorite. Norma coming out was awkward and weird and relieving. I think it works better how it is, tbh. It’s so casual in a way I think was really needed. Not every coming out situation will be anxiety-inducing. Sometimes it really is that simple.

1:48 i havnt seen this scene yet BUT I KNEW IT I LITERALLY KNEW IT I KNEW YAZ HAD A CRUSH ON SAMMY
omg yes it was so obvious from the start!
he gonna crash
@@gaycartoonsI had no clue 😭
That's a lie bro they were set up to be friends this was so obviously forced but all the others are cool😊
Take that shit back before a trach you ehat "back door no lube" means
I love the absolute chaos of luz’s coming out scene it’s so yes
omg yes it's amazing!!
I’m so happy kids can grow up with this positivity
me too!
THIS IS PROPAGANDA NOT WHAT EVER YOU CALL IT?
im a bit jealous that i didnt have this kind of stuff but either way this is good too
@kirbo I know what you mean but each generation has it a little different than the last one right?
@@Staffgame_.oh shush
I will never understand how some people can be against it. People being happy with themselves makes them angry how backwards
yeah it's nonsense, some people are pathetic I guess
*meaningful coming out scene* *deep important coming out scene* *sad coming out scene and then theres Luz
ahaha i love all the different ones, i think it's so important to show that diversity of experience!! there are 'meaningful' ones and sadder ones and then Luz's is so fun and i love that!
Other character: **being nervous coming out**
Luz: (We No Speak Americano pre-chorus plays) Pa Pa i'm Bi
idk that reference, but Luz's scene is fun, yeah :)
Another one is Adam from the hollow! It was honestly funny seeing kai's reaction after adam says "dude, I'm gay"
yeah, i haven't seen that show but it's definitely on my 'to watch at some point' list! :))
@@gaycartoons yes! You really should, i loved it and it's still my favorite show. Sucks it was cancelled by netflix (conveniently enough right when he came out. Hmm)
@@ErinkaPlays ugh yeah, Netflix sucks, they cancel so much queer stuff :(
I love this part 😭 his face is everything
I really like how straightforward he was in saying he was gay in Kipo
yeah, i like that scene too!! pretty sure he was the first one to do that in a kids' cartoon :)
@@gaycartoonsI think so too, I mean there are times characters dance around the word but here he straight up says it.
@@gaycartoonsthere’s also Adam from the Hollow in episode one or two in season 2
He just outright says it and I love that scene lol.
the owl house scene makes me SOB when i watch it. luz and amity are such an adorable couple and camila is such a good supportive mother :') not to mention gus whipping out all the rainbows after luz's little presentation lol
aww yeah i love that scene sm!!
gus fring
I’m heterosexual(straight)and I’m glad these characters come out as lesbian bisexual transgender etc. and I never ever have a problem with 2 boys or 2 girls kissing or holding hands
So guys those of are you are part of this community just be you and don’t let anti LGBTQ let you down especially you @I’m gay and I edit❤
#Love is Love🏳️🌈
thank you!
@@gaycartoons Ur welcome🩵
Water is water, why don't you drink from the toilet?
Look I'm happy for all these characters, but they are some LGBTQ community that hate people juste BC they don't support them, but we are allowed to not support them not everyone is used to this. And I'm don't hate them but don't support what they're doing BC what they do it's... Disgusting 🤮🤢🤮
@@ERTYUIOPQSDFGHJKLZXCVBNM because thats where poop comes from
I got so excited with Yazmina's coming out scene. I shipped Yazmina and Sammy from day 1. When I saw the scene just now I like, I knew it!
aww i'm glad it made you happy!! they definitely had sapphic vibes from the first season lol
4:23 WHEN I TELL YOU I BURST OUT SOBBING
omg yeah i love that scene sm
I loved all of these, but I'm kinda bummed I didn't see Jay's coming out scene from Big Mouth. That right there is the kind of manic energy I need in my life right now. 😂
YES
Lol I haven't seen that show, that's the only reason it's not here! if I ever watch it, I'll happily add him to a sequel!
Elijah coming out is great too. I loved his whole arc

Dana Terance planning this scene out: What are you gonna do Disney, cannel me more?
lmao yes, i feel like she just put everything she could in because it was already cancelled, there was nothing to lose. very iconic tbh
@@gaycartoons they're a being of pure chaos
@@Midnight_Warrior definitely
I like how everyone are so hesitant to come out, and then we have Luz, who just goes "here is a slide show on how I'm bi!"
Haha yeah, I love her!
If that happened at school in my country, in under a minute some kid would have destroyed the presentation somehow
