LUMITY AND CATRADORA JUST MAKES ME FILL WITH BUTTERFLIES EVERYTIME
For me, the ones who knew best how to explore it, despite being very different and put their approach in their own way. It was She-ra with Catradora and TOH with Lumity. These two are the best for me
Catradora is a toxic abusive relationship. Pls look clearly at the physical, emotional, and mental abuse catra afflicts onto adora through out the show. A better wlw ship would be adora and glimmer.

That's because society is not as fond of mlm couples as wlw couples, since most of the media is created by men I guess they are more comfortable writing same gender couples of the opposite sex, just like with straight women and yaoi

Catradora. Yes. I have watched that show more times than I can count. The story was amazing, the messages were great, the characters were developed and every redemption (besides shadow weaver and I guess glimmer) were perfect and well thought out. That show made me so dang happy, especially when Nate confirmed that every character in the ENTIRE franchise was LGBTQIAP+. I also loved the art style and how the score made you feel all the feels. The video essays I watched were great. I am so glad we got a show like this, and I am sorta sad Amazon is making a live action version. This one was perfect, and I wouldn’t change it for the world!
And now onto Lumity, because this wasn’t already long enough.
Lumity is brilliant. The entire show is, really. It’s full of great story arcs, fun, relatable characters, plot twists that have you in the edge of your seat, and positive LGBTQIAP+ representation. I can’t praise this show enough. Luz was an awesome character, and so was Amity. The fact they literally started dating made my heart flutter. I can’t stop thinking about them anytime I hear the Lumity motif. They were adorable, and I am so sad their spot in the sun was so short-lived. Since Disney decided to up and cancel Owl House, I’ve just been watching all kinds of videos about Owl House, Lumity, and just gay stuff to take my mind off the sad reality we won’t get to see them thrive. This show helped me so much, and gave me something to look forward to in this dark time.
Thank you to Dana Terrace, Nate Stevenson, and everyone involved in the making of these two amazing shows! I hope you all find happiness and peace in the fact you helped so many people who felt unrepresented in media feel included. You guys are awesome, and thank you!
edit :: to everyone commenting about how catradora sucks and is a toxic relationship, I agree somewhat. Yes, Catra was toxic at some points, and yes, she ended up perpetuating Shadow Weaver's cycle of abuse, but unlike Shadow Weaver, she feels a lot of remorse for her actions and tries her hardest to make it up to Adora and everyone else she hurt. And their relationship, I don't think, was toxic, because, for most of the show, they have no relationship. They go their separate ways and they fight, like enemies. Honestly, I'm pretty tired right now and I don't feel like writing a whole essay, so I would suggest just checking out Five By Five Takes. They have a video on Catradora, Catra and her abuse (along with why she is a phenomenal character) and just a bunch of She-Ra video essays that are pretty awesome. They say everything I want to say and more.
edit2 :: The creator of the show now goes by 'Nate' so I edited that a bit ago. Nate confirmed that everyone is gay. Creator said gay rights.

That was probably the best handled of the lot. It was obviously intended from the beginning, and took its time developing in an organic way that wasn’t treated like a dirty secret they threw out last minute.
Dragon Prince was great about that, too.., just treated it as part of life in that world.

Charlie and vaggie are dating but they don't show it which would be just a girl calling another girl hun which wouldn't be much compared to the other clips in this video but if ep 1 ever releases I'm sure they will show some lumity type stuff

I think it's because by homophobic standards wlw relations are more tolerated and can be chalked up to "gal pals"
Women are more liked than men and sadly homosexual male characters don't have the best track record as far as representation is concerned. The Gay man stereotype is disappearing and were getting better characters but sadly they still get overshadowed women.

@@crestmoon8423 Most of these are pretty horny ngl. They make gay men seem like super into sex freaks, so much so that it's a whole genre of anime. It's kinda weird honestly.
Other than that I completely agree about gay men rep being pretty bad or non-existent. The best I can think of is Captain Holt from Brooklyn Nine-Nine, he's pretty good, but I can't think of any in the Western animation industry.
It's because homophobic women tend to target mlm and wlw equally and cishet women tend to be more accepting of LGBTQ+ people then cishet men, while homophobic men tend to target mlm more because they can fethishise wlw (which is still homophobia but they still "give it a pass")

I remember when garnet was revealed and it was before I realized that I liked girls. I cried, but I didn't know why.. But now I do :)
It sucks that many of these were censored on my country, and also frustrating cause we grow up thinking we are forbidden to be who we are, and the violence here is so present. Part of these cartoons I grew up watching as a kid and teenager, I´m 24 yo now, and still watch cartoons and stuff cause I love art, and I´m a art student in a University here in Brazil (although they do not teach very well art techniques, the focus of our professors are books and theory , I like that part but I want to be able to do art, cause my dram was to make comics).

They were safe in the end and if l remember correctly, these two were seen in the background dating from time to time.
The series is "3 Below" by DreamWorks. A spin-off from "Trollhunters". It's on Netflix. Not on the level of its original series, but worth a watch.

Wow, I'm 37 and have never watched any of these cartoons. My 6 year old just watches RUclips. I can't believe how much representation there is now a days! My family never talked about homosexuality growing up. But now as a pan woman, who didn't even start discovering her orientation til she was 19, I love this!

I used to have feelings for a friend, but when she came out as a lesbian and a girl in our class told me she had a thing for my friend, IMMEDIATE response was to be the ultimate wingman, I had to support her, and when they started going out and told me about it I played it off cool, but snuck off to the bathroom where a guy in the stall heard me squeal like a little girl then start shouting “YES YES YES YES YES” before telling me to chill

I'm kinda sad that I don't see any character from RWBY, I mean There's Blake who is Bisexual, Yang who probably a Lesbian or just Blakesexual lol🤣🤣. Coco who is a Lesbian she came out in RWBY Chibi or in the book Before the Dawn, Also there is Jaune Sister Saphron Cotta-Arc who is in a loving marriage with Terra Cotta-Arc with child Adrian in Volume 6 episodes 7. I Know RWBY is not as known but its a worth a watch. Also you can't forget the Original LGBT Characters Sailor Neptune and Sailor Uranus from Sailor Moon like Come on there were called Cousins in the English Version because being gay was not right but apparently insists is 😒.

I'm honestly not sure about sexuality anymore but if it's what I think it is based on research and how I feel, then no I'm not faking it. Now that I think about it though, I've never really cared about the gender, maybe it was just that I never rlly knew nor cared about the lgbtq stuff, and I was used to seeing the girl and boy couples. @Uh Oh Stinky I know like it's so touching to see that in a kids show especially because in many TV shows it's the same stereo typical lgbtq+ character and the main character is just like they're gay and brushes past it and it rarely comes up again and they never really get good representation, but in the loud house Luna and Sam's relationship with eachother actually becomes something important to the show just like the straight ones do and I am so surprised to see that in a kids show because like I said before the lgbtq+ characters in media almost never really get representation like that
