    Jazz bassist with a pick and drummer using matched grip, just proves there is no right or wrong.

    Heck of a job with the set. I love the lighting. Must be about the most amazing job that I've ever seen. This gem of a performance easily falls in as one of my all time favorites.

      ...like pedal bass when blending with the other instruments...by itself, audaciously industrial, even

      reminds me of Charlie Haden too....very even sound with doubled notes in a counterpoint to the soloist

      In this case this is so likely because the leader of the Solidarity movement was an electrician. Abba would've appreciated.

    i know that john Scofield is one of the best guitarists in the world !!! and i agree 100/100.. i am just wondering why he is not trying express him self more melodically!!! I dont mean to play like pat metheny~ i think they are both unique!!! I just think that a master like John Scofield could explore various musical fields, like Keith Jarrett did !! I know he is using unreal cord substitutions , i just think that something difficult is not necessary beautifull all the times!!! With all my respect for John Scofield!!!!!!

    • @BazzTriton

      But HE IS trying to express himself more melodically

    • @dimant111
      @dimant111 7 лет назад

      BazzTriton maybe i am wrong.. Maybe i meant more romantic- melodic-- Anyway John Scofield is Grand Master!!!

      Good job w the rest of the track list...I like Sco and follow him to a point, but I wouldn't have been able to identify the originals. The Chopin prelude has been jazz-ified by a number of jazz musicians...and even Barry Manilow made a tune out of it (Could it Be Magic).

    • @JentschChris
      @JentschChris 5 лет назад

      Murilo Morello do you mean the other way around? Like if Monk’s ‘Round Midnight was adapted by a “classical” musician? That kind of thing has happened...

  • @vincentm614

    Yes Steve Swallow plays with a pick and he was second to Monk Montgomery to make the switch to electric bass in the jazz world. He probably uses a pick because he looked at electric bass as a bass guitar and he switched before Stanley Clark came along a used slapping and poping techniques in the 70s

      In Chick Corea's 'Ultimate Adventure' band Carles Benavent seems to be playing with a plectrum, too. However, it's more flamenco than jazz playing.

    • @JentschChris

      Its an older more traditional type song referring to a "house" of prostitution...which if you patronized it you were in danger of losing your soul.
