Had my encounter here in Utah at age 12 while hunting mule deer with my step dad, uncle and a friend named John. My second was while pulling field guard on a Battery Section of Self Propelled Artillery at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. This was the early 90s and almost cost me my military career because of my written field report. To old too care who believes or not.I didn't ask or look for it but they exist. 🌲👣👣👣🌲

I had a closeup encounter with a sasquatch when I was 12 yrs old in Ocean Shores, Washington State...unforgettable experience....this beast was no more than 30 ft away from me leaning against a tree staring me down...although it was upright leaning against a tree, I recall that its fingertips were almost touching the ground....very strange indeed, and I have to say...it looked nothing even remotely close to the familiar pictures that everyone is used to seeing.
Somewhat of a greenish brown with matted dreadlock styled mangy coat of fur and its face looked like it was hit with a shovel...flattened features....pretty scary

Heard local stories of a Yucca Man that used to be up there but never saw anything. Did see numerous UFO's up in that area growing up though.

@RaymondRAYCE You could ask at the park entrance to be sure, but I doubt there is enough water to support that. I've never heard of such a thing, and I hike there all the time. I have never seen a dog inside the park, and you are not permitted to bring a dog on a trail, even on a leash. I've seen a few coyotes and some big horn sheep. All of southern California, including JT, is mountain lion country but you could hike for a lifetime in the park and never see one - they actively avoid human contact. And watch where you step - there are rattlesnakes but you are most unlikely to have a problem with one unless you step on it.

The whole Mojave dessert area has become unsafe over the last few decades. I used to live down there. The friends that I have that still live down there attest to the same thing. Not a good place to live or be anymore, not saying it was a great place to being with back in the late 80’s. It started going really down hill when they opened up a prison down there years ago. The drug lifestyle in the area has gone out of control and overflows to all the surrounding open areas. People strung out on meth are known to head out into the desert and tweak out. Many of them get their clothes from the local military surplus stores since they are cheap and it suites the dessert climate. You mostly saw some dude strung out on drugs having a psychotic episode that hasn’t had a haircut in years. It’s sad, but most likely the reality.

I will say, however, that people would go missing frequently. Some were found but often they were not. It’s our Queen’s state funeral this morning and I’ll be preparing to settle down to watch this very sad occasion. Sadly, for me, she is the last of what made Britain great and I feel our country may change….I hope not It’s a dramatic time for Britain.

I’m proud of William and Harry and the lives they have been living. I’m an American of English and Danish ethnicity and proud of it. I’d love to see what a United Britain could do with fresh ideas. I've also heard ... well I don't know about in Scotland but in England people are not allowed to even have a Swiss Army life on them , which is crazy ... I hear they are not even allowed to carry pepper spray for protection .
Here in America one must have a fishing license for any kind of fishing no matter what it is and in every state in America ... I don't know how long it's been like that but I would say probably pretty long ... maybe a couple decades at least .

There are hundreds of stories on the channel now and some of them are really mind-blowing .
There are a number of channels that are about Cryptids .
I doubt you people are having the horrible hot weather again ... I'm sure things have cooled off and I thought things were cooling off here in Dallas but now this week they will be around 97 degrees Fahrenheit and that's without the heat index .

At one point recently I thought it would be interesting to see one of them , especially a dog man but then I came back to my senses and realized now I don't want to see them especially not up close .

I grew up in the San Diego area and when your story happened I was 22 which is around the time I used to get out to the deserts riding 3 wheelers but I also was a serious hiker and had been since the late 60s so I've been all over Joshua Tree National Park and the only stories I've heard prior to this had to do with snake encounters and scorpions. The place in the San Diego area that got a lot of stories told about was Procter Valley, a long dirt road that runs from Jamul to Bonita passes through Procter Valley(It's all built up now) and back then there were animal mutilations with talk of a satanic cult was going around and there was also talk of a bigfoot creature known as the Procter Valley Monster. My friends and I used to get stoned and go out there late at night trying to scare each other plus about half way down that road there was a tree known as the hangman tree where supposedly someone hung them self years before so we always stopped there and got out of the car. There is a long story about me driving off a small cliff while chasing a sheriff car we were racing to the Bonita Winchell's but this is already pretty long. LOL

When we came back the other direction at the slight S turn in the road we saw that truck on it's side and the people scattered when we came up. We stopped and asked if anyone was hurt and surprisingly just cuts and bruises so we helped get the truck back on it's wheels and they went on their way... weird night for sure but we looked at the truck and the front wheels weren't exactly pointing the same way but they drove off anyway LOL

I've lived 4 miles from Joshua Tree National Park for over 55 years now. I was a back country volunteer for 10 years and have logged thousands of hours and miles hiking. When we were kids camping up in the monument/park, we would tell scary Yucca Man stories around the campfire at night. Legend has it that Yucca Man was an 'defective' child left to die in the desert by his parents. He was taken in and raised by a pack of coyotes. His body is badly scarred from injuries and rock rash. We constantly made up new stories Yucca Man, one of the constants is his incredible stench. A miasma so foul it makes vultures gag. He is myth and legend and fun to make up stories about but he isn't real. The only thing scary about JTNP is it is part of the Mojave and Colorado Deserts, real deserts that will kill you if you don't follow her rules.

      Hello Noreen.
In 1982 or 83, can't remember which. We (husband, 4 children, and myself) were traveling route 66 in northern Az. It got late, and we were all SO tired, we pulled our station wagon off the road to sleep a few hours. Our then 13 year old son woke us up because he said he saw a white, hair covered man standing just feet from the car, watching us sleep. That was years before any of us even knew about bigfoot. The location was only about 200 miles northeast of the Joshua tree forest

Hey! Good one! Maybe BF has figured how to rub sticks together and maybe not so good at putting out fires. Really! And fires might be why they move so much! My imagination loves this stuff but seriously - thanks for the story.

I don't know if anyone else noticed, there's a guy standing in the background between two trees on your left side...he keeps turning round looking over your direction...it definitely is a guy wearing a dark colour jacket. Very strange.

I saw something in my wood's here in southern Alabama just outside of Pensacola Florida. I don't know what it was, but I no longer go even close to the tree line. I never would have believed it. Guess it has to happen to you before you really understand that there's things out there that we know nothing about.

I was stationed at MCB 29 Palms in the early 80s. We had heard of "Yucca Man" and cautioned jokingly not to wander off at night. But we did spend a lot of time in 2 man teams out in the desert. Fortunately, I had no encounters.

I'm from South Michigan and it is not that snowy and freezing in March and April. We are not like Minnesota. But it is cold in the north part of Michigan. Of course we have our share of dogmen & bigfoot.

Wow that must have been so scary! I wonder why Bigfoot gets so mad whenever someone gets into his territory - what's he so scared of? I can well believe that he chased the car, these things are probably very fast - Bigfoot I mean!
That's a lovely family photograph, thank you for sharing that with us! And it's always such lovely scenery where you go hiking! Just make sure there's no squatch around, I worry about you, they turn up very suddenly and most of the time they are mad as hell!

I’m going to send a link to my ex. I’m guessing he will have the same startled look I do. Also I have a friend who is like a docent/guide somewhere in the area for hikers. I wonder if she’s heard about it being there. I always thought Bigfoot was in denser forested areas. It can get blazing hot out there.
