  • Everything YOU need to know before you travel to Joshua Tree National Park in California. Joshua Tree is a huge park at 800,000 acres. 2.8 million people visit every year. Its a true desert park with very few amenities inside. Joshua Tree makes a great day trip from Los Angeles and San Diego. And it's just a hop, skip, and a jump from Palm Springs.

    Admission fee is $30 per vehicle for everybody in it.. valid for a week.

    Joshua Tree is a type of Yucca tree in the Agave Family. Average age is about 150 years old.
    Legend has it that these trees were named by Mormon Settlers after the biblical figure, Joshua, seeing the limbs of the tree as outstretched in supplication, guiding the travelers westward.
    Tallest tree in the park is 40 feet tall

    Such as amazing park... I thought my kids would be bored, but they loved walking the easy trails and climbing the rocks. Extremely recommended.... you wont be disappointed.

    I’ve always found the Joshua Tree National Park to be an enchanted kinda place; especially at dusk; or in the moonless nights, under a magical blanket of stars.

    Grew up in Yucca Valley, just next to it. Back then it was still just a National Monument, no fees, not many crowds, better times.

    Thank you for your great video ❤️Joshua Tree is an excellent place to visit. It is such a peaceful experience ❤️so many great hikes . There is a great hike to heart rock no map you have to navigate to find it. If you find it you are one of the lucky ones👍🏿

    Hi Chris! I was at Joshua Tree yesterday. Great tip about downloading the map into your cellphone. Extremely helpful! There is some or no service inside the park.

    Arches and Bryce Canyon National Parks up in Utah are definitely worth a video, Chris. Especially now that overseas travel is still restricted. You could combine it with a trip to Vegas.

    No way! Were you there on Friday, June 12th? We visited from San Diego, had a blast! Super windy, but it kept the desert temp down! Wish I could have seen you, would have loved to show some respect in person (socially distanced of course)!

    Nice video. Got here via Wolters world. Wish you would mention the downside of being in the desert. Are there a lot of snakes? Scorpions? Spiders?

      Hi Teri.... welcome! We spent a whole day there and didn't see any snakes, scorpions, or spiders.... but we also went in the winter when those things are way less active. In the summer I'm sure there are many more creepy crawlies!

      All animals are protected whether they are dangerous or not. It is a National Park. I have spent a lot of time in the park. Most likely you will not encounter any such animals. You're more likely to encounter a coyote. I have never encountered a rattlesnake there. I have never encountered a scorpion. I have encountered tarantulas which are rather safe spiders if you leave them alone.

    Heart rock is to the left of arch rock good luck finding it❤️it’s a huge rock shaped like a heart everyone goes to skull rock not too many people know about it 👀

      We drove in the 29 palms entrance and when out the Joshua Tree main entrance in the town of Joshua Tree. Yes. This is off the "main" road of Park Blvd.. we basically drove that from one entrance to the other

    One thing to know, ALL Joshua trees lean slightly to the south. If you get lost out there and many people do, knowing this could save your life.

      @@YellowProductions I am not actually sure. I am on the fence about it. I have not been there personally but saw a nice video about it, but it may be a tad small and necessary to have more added with it. My mother many years ago wanted to make a coffee table book of famous Hollywood grave sites but I want to make that happen one day soon

      Yes. Restrooms are inside the park and near some trails. But they are pit toilets only. No running water inside the park.

    Arch rock requires some rock scrabbling not bouldering.

      They have pit toilets in the park. The only flushing toilets they have are at the visiter centers and at the west park entrance.

    Lost my best friend there. Somebody screwed up on the rules and safety practices and he fell about 50 feet and hit his head. 😂
