Um, thank you. I was depressed. I had 12 inches of unnecessary hair. I didn't want to look at anyone... I just cut my hair per your advice... I looked good! It lead to makeup for the first time in months, then even hot shoes and a whole look. Bless you.
Who needs a professional hairdresser anymore? I'm so proud of myself! My hair looks terrific. I wish I could post pics. Thanks from the bottom of my heart.
I DID IT!!!!! I followed along and cut my hair and honest to goodness I love it every day!!!! I moved from NYC to a small little town and was getting horrible cuts! No kidding - I am enjoying this cut SOOOOOO much. You rocked it! I'm excited for my hair to grow so I can do it again!!!!! yippee
Sounds like me! Live in small town West of NYC and a distance and believe me they do not seem to understand what i want. I am totally tired of it, and so have done it myself and am happier! Am so thankful for Jami's help!
I have the same experience! I am. Finn but I lived in Berlin, Germany, six years. I got fabulous hair cuts there! Even my native language is not Getman nor English, they seemed to undersrsnd my needs. Then I came back to Finland… to a small town and the downfall of the haircuts started. In three years, I have not gotca proper haircut! I decided to but my own hair scissors snd try myself. The result cannot be worse that thise I paid for. By the way: I am 50+ years old and suddenly I realised, that all women of my age here have the same haircut! So, when I showed photos from the Pinteredt and even I thought, that I spoke Finnish with Finnish hairdressers, they did not seem to understand what is ”bangs”. The seemed to look at my age and do the same as they do to every woman of my age in this town… 😢 Thank you for this video! I have not got courage enough to cut my hair but this video is clear enough.
3 glasses of red, 1 RUclips video later and I woke up with headache and a super cute short bob 😂 This was a super easy guide to follow and I'm really happy with how my own hair turned out
Thank you Jami! I stopped wasting my money at salons three years ago. Ironically, someone named "Jennifer Best" was the last person to cut my hair. I paid $50 to have this "stylist" ignore my asymmetrical style choice and give me a generic bob haircut. Thanks to you, I can give myself a better bob haircut and not have to pay and tip someone who doesn't listen! You did an amazing job and you are so beautiful. I appreciate you!
Same here but I was living in the center of the city so it cost me like 80$ to get a bob that was way to short and looked nothing like what I showed her, I also told her I wanted my hair thinned out and she didn't do it. The one before her did it too much and my hair was flat. This year I decided to cut it myself and it looks exactly like I wanted and I love it. ❤️
Thank you so much for the no fuss, easy to follow haircut! I've been wearing my hair in this bob my entire life. I've tried to do it myself a couple of times...but always had to have a neighbor come in and help out with the back. My hair is extremely thin, so lobbing off the pony tail, was no issue. We thin haired girls, just don't take the razor to the back. Knock off that entire step. Super great haircut. I'm so excited and happy! Thank YOU!!!
Sheila Buck sorry just seeing this, yes you can definitely skip the razor step which makes it that much easier! Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for your comment loved reading it!
Great video! I feel ready to give this a try. I especially appreciate that she didnt have a 5 minute long intro. Those annoy me so much. She just got to it. Thank you so much for that.
Omg! Thank you! I’ve needed a cut so bad, but I lack the time off and the budget. I watched this video and then immediately had my 11 year old daughter help me cut my hair. This tutorial was so easy to follow that my child could literally do it. I was terrified! We cut 4 inches off and it turned out awesome!! I’m so grateful! And I feel like a new woman!!
Long hair is nice but my favorite haircut is an angled bob! I’m a hairstylist so I cut my own hair using a similar method and it always turns out good! Your cut turned out beautiful, very good tutorial!
Been thinking about attempting this for at least 2-3 months during pandemic. Today I did it. Was really nervous at start because my hair is fine, super wavy and hard to straighten. And the elastic thing was a bit tricky…. But… this was EXACTLY the cut I wanted and it worked. THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I really appreciate you sharing with everyone. Don’t know if I’ll ever need salon again.
I'm just getting out of depression. It's getting better everyday now. AND YOU JUST MADE MY DAY! I've never been so happy with my hair and the fact that I did it myself! Thank you for making this video. And you are just as beautiful without the makeup
Appreciate your honesty most would not had admitted. Takes a big person. Professionals focus on what they were taught not back ally hair hacks. 😂So im thankful. This is for those who are not trained professionally. So I'm glad you don't know. ❤
I’ve never cut my own hair before but have been dying to do so for months now. Today I gave in and with this tutorial was able to cut off over 12 in of hair into a super cute bob and I LOVE it. Thank you so much for this!!!
Tried this today and am SO happy with the result!! I cut about 25cm and it was so much easier than I thought. Saved me money and the frustration with which I normally walk out of a salon. Thanks!!
I just cut my hair just like you are showing on the video I'm halfway through it and it's starting to look just like yours! You have made it so much easier for me to cut it myself thank you
I am an African-American woman (having more textured hair). I've always wanted a bob, but was too nervous to cut my hair because I like having an option for a ponytail. I followed this video and it looks great. My hair looks exactly like the video. 🤣 Really cute. I was looking for a new look before my bday.
When I was in my mid 30s and headed for a wedding where I was wearing a hat, a rather scissor happy hairdresser did this cut for me. It's been like this ever since- the most versatile haircut because you can let it go either long or short, keeping this shape.
Jools99 Caithness1 EXACTLY!!! I haven’t touched it since and it’s growing out so nice. This is what I used to tell people when I worked at the salon, if you want a cut that will grow out nice this is your cut.
Your hair is georgous. I use to wait for hours to get my hair done and watched clients get trims and thats how i learned to trim my own hair. I love your color.
I know this video is 4 years ago....but....let me tell you, you are a hair genius! I was looking for a very well demonstrated video that was to the point but from someone with hair cutting experience. I was growing out a heavily layered cut and my hair was to my lower back. I went out got hair cutting shears from the dollar store and an hour and half later, I gave myself the best cut I've ever had, thanks to you!! ❤
Agree with other comments about the absence of long unnecessary intro, really appreciate this! The cut itself is easy to follow and looks great! The little baby’s sweet voice on the background makes it even cuter:)).
I watched her and she makes it look so easy. My hair had grown so long since March. I tried this and I got great results! I cut 4 inches off. I'm so happy. Thank you👌
I've been cutting my hair like this for years. Thank you for the tip on using thinning sheers. I used one higher up but hadn't thought of using it at the ends. Your hair looks great!
You inspired me to do it and it came out fantastic! This was the first time I have attempted anything like this, but I am so happy with how it came out. I didn’t have to do any razor/thinning stuff as my hair is so fine. It took me 10 minutes.
I've been to salons that can't cut this hairstyle on me, yet here you are doing your own and it turned out better than I could ever get from a professional at a hair salon.
My hairdresser had to cancel on me today and I really had my heart set on a cut so my 12yo daughter and I worked together with the tutorial and I love it! Not as short as I was planning but I’ll let my hairdresser do that when we can get another appointment. Thank you!
I just did this on a whim and it turned out amazing!! I was in shock when I took the pony out and there was a perfect angular bob. A few touch ups and thinning shears finished it up nicely. For the record, I have very thick wavy hair that I usually straighten, or add a few loose curls when my hair is longer.
Oh love this!!!! And good to know about your hair thickness abs texture for others who’ve asked as mine is thick but very fine textured. Way to go on the awesome diy cut!!!
I need to tell you thank you. My 10 year old cut a 6 inch chunk out of the back of her hair two days ago. I have never cut long hair before. But the salons are all closed and I was equipped with only paper scissors. But this helped me to much and her hair turned out beautifully.
This is the cut I wanted. My hair was about 16 inches long, its straight. I asked for hair to rest an inch or two on my shoulders with blunt cut and razored edging in the front. I explained what I wanted and got a short, multi-layered haircut that aged me 10 years. It will take 6-8 months to get all the layers one length now...sigh.. wish I had found your channel. Next time Im going to do this myself and buy the scissors to point cut and the razor.
Yeap! That is how you do it! Yourself and how you want it! Started doing that after a hairdresser messed my hair up and wanted 100 bucks for it - 20 years ago. Never paid another cent to one of those hairchoppers again! Got lots of compliments for my own cuts though! Totally worth it!
Tried it! Happy with my job and I’m not expert, but years ago I had the best hairdresser ever! He’ll be gone 10 years next month and Im sure he’d kill me! But I feel it’s truly a tribute! Thanks for the instructions! Loved my Mitchell and miss him still!❤️
I wish I had watched this before I got started butchering my hair a few days ago!!! When NY finally reopens hair salons, my hairdresser is gonna be so mad at me! You did a wonderful tutorial!!!!
Jami Swan Beauty I’m afraid we are opening only to close again soon because people are not social distancing and many are not wearing the mask! The minute outside dining was opened in NY last week, people were behaving like it was New Years Eve. Psychologically, we are underprepared for the long-haul mitigation practices. That is for sure!
You should be a model .... it’s so good to see someone cut there hair so simple and effective and look so good ..... if I’m brave I will try and cut my hair this way ...thank you your a star 🌟
Just did this, thank you! It’s not perfect but it’s pretty darn good and means a lot to me not to have to have someone else cut my hair. Great tutorial!
Best DIY haircut video for my blunt angled bob! Never in my wildest dreams did I think I could get away with cutting my own hair but this will save a small fortune! Thanks a million for the video.
I thought I was the only one who cut their hair while having a melt down then my daughter when she was 12, got pissed at me one day and chopped off her ponytail! My impulse/crazy chop offs were always because of boys n breakups lol ! Not her..haha I still have the ponytail. She's 32 now. Always good conversation piece.
I feel heard!! Lol. Same! Rarely ever cut my hair but was loosing my mind today, I've been thinking about it for a year now and just went for it! Definitely do not regret it one bit! Will see in a month though... Th e one time I went short 15 years ago, after 2 months wanted my hair back. Health problems brought on hair loss though so hoping to have thicker hair. Hope your haircut was therapeutic for you
I used to cut my hair exactly this way when I was younger (layering using a razor blade). I've been wanting to do this hairstyle again but had forgotten how, until now! It's a super easy cut to do and a beautiful style!
Yes, I have been cutting my hair this way for 2 years; quite satisfying and a good length; just used 1 rubber band. i even got a compliment from library lady who said it looked good at the back. if i put rubber band too high then sides are too short and get on my nerves. soft haircut, no trauma; glad to see you do it this way too! you do fine tune it nicely. not like me, 76 year old lady.
I love this so much! I don’t have $120 to get a haircut, so I’m looking at doing it myself. The last haircut I had the stylist was so invasive and inappropriate with her conversation, and made me feel so immensely anxious and trapped by asking me all these personal questions about myself and it was a nightmare. This haircut is lovely.
Wow Jami it looked really good even after the first pony tail cut! The more I watch these videos on various women the more I realize how refreshing, uplifting to the face and youthful this cut looks. Besides that, its less damage, healthier and quicker to style and get dressed. Thanks so much! You look beautiful!! It suits you well.
I’ve been cutting my own hair for a few years now because I was so unhappy with paying too much money for haircuts that I was unhappy with! I like your technique, thank you for this!! ❤
Thank you, Jami. I have been so tired of getting different stylists each time where I go to get hair done, and have to keep going over everything each time, If I ask them what would look best they do not know! So, they just ask " What would you like done?' So, I go through the Bob and Point Cut as hair is fine and not as thick. I have to explain everything! Not to take much off, to leave sides angles to be longer past chin in front and on and on and the last one ended up cutting sides to the lob of my ear! Had to then wait for the growth again! So, this works out better in the end!
Enjoyed watching it. You talked and demonstrated right from the beginning unlike some, they talked more than action. You have so much confidence and it looked easy but it really takes lot of experience to do that perfect job. You are amazing 😉
I made a haircut for myself today, I just divided my hair into four strands and only then cut it, it turned out to be a haircut not much below the shoulders, it turned out great
Oh my days! I cut my hair following your instructions and it looks absolutely stunning...even if I say so myself lol! Brilliant video and great results...if anyone is uhmming and ahhing....do it! It worked wonders for me. Thank you for uploading this video xxx
My back ponytail fell out when I was cutting. Took me an hour to get it all even. I might have to go to the hairdresser after this. I know why you said we have to have sharp scissors or shears. Makes all the difference in the world. Thank you for sharing this video
Thank you so much!!!! Your video is literally the only one I found that shows exactly how to cut the back of your hair on your own! I've watched so many other videos & tried the methods in those videos & they didn't work! I literally ended up cutting my hair shorter than I wanted trying the other methods that didn't work! Again thank you so much!!!!!! 🥳😁💇♀️🙏🙏🙏🙏🤷♀️😁🥳
Your hair looks beautiful. My fine hair is shoulder length and when it gets this long...you can really tell how fine it is. I've watched this 3 times...awesome video and instructions. Going to take the plunge tonite. Thank you for the video! Prayers needed :-)
I prefer the old-scool blunt cut, no point cutting, just a nice straight line and no thinning the ends. I love a very straight look, no curl under, just just super straight! You did a nice job! I'm going to try those products and get a paddle brush.
I thought this tutorial was really instructive and easy to follow; I assume she is an amateur (not hair dresser?) and if that is the case it (presentation/monologue & haircut)were done so well in my opinion and I love her hair color!
Excellent instructions but the fact im way over due or my cut (actually this is the style I've for awhile and love)is the only thing keeping my chin up with my newly created leopard locks. ☹️ So off to find stuff to fix my orange hair from last night's home highlights. Quarantine Extension until 6/4 at least
Only because I am one and honestly if you have no training or experience in this field you will botch your hair trying to attempt this haircut following her tutorial
Debbie Taylor aw thanks! I often wish my hair had more wave and body I feel we all want the opposite of what we have sometimes haha. I’m sure your hairs beautiful!
You did a great job, I can't believe it was so easy. My hair is down to my waist and I need to cut it desperately. I will try to do it a little at a time, hopefully it will not be ruined.
My husband just helped me do this cut and i love it!! Thank you for sharing a beautiful tutorial ❤️ if i had the thinning shears and such it would look even better. But this is much improved from before.
I mean, I'd like to see people like me do it because I don't have any sort of hair styling materials (most are extremely expensive for my budget). Just kind of like a brief trim with regular scissors (although I absolutely know this isn't ideal at all, but I gave my only pair of shears to my older sister). I've never cut my own hair before and I always had my sister or my mom cut my hair (my mom never trusts salons or barbers so I never went to one), I think it would be nice to finally do it myself for once.
@@moniquelewis7839 I cannot cut even my own bangs. But I will take this to my hairdresser, who can't seem to understand unless things are spelled out for her.
I've watched other bob vids on YT but it's a fail every time. Your first step to section off the front made all the difference in the outcome. I am to so happy! I cannot thank you enough!
I was actually planning on doing this tonight! And I will use this method, as soon as my (rather 'round' & chunky) cat gets off my lap, cause you know moving with pet on your lap is illegal! I probably wont be able to feel my legs but thanks to your very informative video, apparently legs arent needed! 😃 Thanks so much for this video! 🌹🌹🌹 Oh by the way, that length looks great on you 😊
@@JamiSwanBeauty my hair turned out great actually! I ended up cutting off about 8-9 inches, it needed to be done. Am loving the feeling of healthy hair too. Thanks so much ❤ 🌸🌸🌸
This is very informative! I have curly thick hair. I had curly thick hair and then was struck with alopecia. I've tried everything. I swore I never wear my hair short again cuz it was so much trouble with the curls however who would have thought I would be half bald. Thankfully my hair swells. Unfortunately so does my scalp so I cannot wear any clips or even wigs but I thought with the hair I have I might be able to do a stacked bob like this but I don't trust anyone else. They have no idea how much my hair draws up particularly since it's so thin now there's no weight to hold it. I don't think I can point cut my hair without losing the bluntness I am seeking. Just wanted to thank you for this video and I might just give it a shot today!ps, before I got ill I was a very successful hairstylist. I threw that in so you know I have a little knowledge
omg!! i just did this!!!! AND IT WORKED PERFECTLY!!! I only had trim up a few pieces This is such a good way to do this! I dont think Ill ever go to the salon again!

I am a hairdresser and I am AMAZED at how good this turned out. I may be doing this 👀
This is the cut I wanted.
BarbJ White same thing happened to me today and I even showed pictures from my phone.smh
@@toosense Sorry to hear you had the same experience.
BarbJ White thanks, live and learn, right? Next time we cut our own hair. ❤️😘
@@toosense Exactly! Yes we will cut our own hair next time for sure!
Loved my Mitchell and miss him still!❤️
❤️
I tried this out since I desperately needed to cut my hair short and the results are great. I'm in love with this cut! 😍
Trying it today
Geetika Baluni oh I missed this when you posted sorry! So happy it turned out so great that’s awesome and good work!!!!

WOW !!! I can't seem to find a stylist to do this to my hair yet you were able to do it yourself - amazing & beautiful : )
Aw thanks so much!! ❤️
If you don't already have your own salon:open one! You have amazing skills. I would be your first customer. Love your hair!
Aw thank you!! ❤️
@@JamiSwanBeauty I want your hair! Beautiful
I have been a multi-location - Salon Spa owner for years and I am also a hairstylist. Jami outstanding job! I am impressed!
I wish I had watched this before I got started butchering my hair a few days ago!!! When NY finally reopens hair salons, my hairdresser is gonna be so mad at me! You did a wonderful tutorial!!!!
M D oh no!!! Shoot! Have you opened up yet in NY? Things are slowly opening up here in Saskatchewan in Canada.
Jackie Dowling aw you’re so sweet thank you for the kind words I appreciate it ☺️
Just did this, thank you!
YEARSSS of searching the interweb for an easy, quick 'how-to' blunt bob, and FINALLYYYY -boom! you ROCK! THanks muchas sista-mamma xoxo
Ahh I’m so glad it was helpful!!! This makes me happy thanks for your feedback appreciate it!!!
I did this about when it first came out, and I've returned to rewatch so I can do it again. Great tutorial! Thank you!
Elizabeth Musso ah that’s so good to hear!!!! Thanks for your comment love reading them ☺️
I did this just because of a mental breakdown, but omg I’m so freaking happy, it looks A-WE-SO-ME !
Ahh glad it looks awesome! I was feeling the same before I cut mine and still so happy with it. Picked me up ☺️❤️
I thought I was the only one who cut their hair while having a melt down then my daughter when she was 12, got pissed at me one day and chopped off her ponytail! My impulse/crazy chop offs were always because of boys n breakups lol ! Not her..haha I still have the ponytail. She's 32 now. Always good conversation piece.
Sequim Washington I have a tendency to cut my hair after break ups also. It’s like having a fresh start in every way. ☺️
omg! Me too! Like a month ago LOL Same cut and all! 13 inches gone.
Just cut mine! I love it! Thank you so much for this easy tutorial. First time ever cutting my hair and I was so nervous. Thank you!!!
Ahh that’s so awesome!!!! Good work! your welcome!!!!
Thank you for getting straight to the point lololol I appreciate you!
no intro here hahaha. glad you liked! ☺️❤️
For real. I can't stand the long winded intros in most beauty videos. This was refreshing.
This is my second time during quarantine following this tutorial and I came out with another really cute bob! This is seriously fool-proof, THANK YOU
I'm so glad!
Followed this with a friend doing the back and myself doing the front! It turned out GREAT!! Thank you SO much for the tutorial!
Oh that’s awesome!!! Nice to have help for the back! Glad you enjoyed the vid 😁
Enjoyed watching it. You talked and demonstrated right from the beginning unlike some, they talked more than action. You have so much confidence and it looked easy but it really takes lot of experience to do that perfect job. You are amazing 😉
Miss Jami!,🎉🎉🎉Your hair looks amazing, and you are GORGEOUS!!
That is awesome to hear and good work on the cut! 👏🏼❤️😃
I love the way the front of your hair/bangs look at very end! I like alot of layers so Im always angle cutting.. your hair looks amazing!
So glad you showed us this one. This is exactly what I want for my hair and was just thinking I want to do it myself.
I followed your instructions to the letter. My DIY cut looks great! Thanks!
Oh that’s so awesome to hear! Good work!!
Your hair looks beautiful. My fine hair is shoulder length and when it gets this long...you can really tell how fine it is. I've watched this 3 times...awesome video and instructions. Going to take the plunge tonite. Thank you for the video! Prayers needed :-)
How did it turn out?
Did you end up cutting your hair? I have really fine, blond hair and I'm scared that I don't have enough hair to make this cut work.
YAAY!! The perfect "Quarantine" haircut. I was beginning to look like my hairdresser died. 😜 Thank You! 😊 💕 😊
lol 👍🏼😂🥳🤩

Missed your comment earlier sorry! that’s awesome it worked out for you too I’ve been hearing awesome haircut successes which makes me so happy!
Lol the “Rona”
I prefer the old-scool blunt cut, no point cutting, just a nice straight line and no thinning the ends. I love a very straight look, no curl under, just just super straight! You did a nice job! I'm going to try those products and get a paddle brush.
This is THE BEST video on self-cut hair I have ever seen. You look great. Thanks!
Tried this yeterday on wet hair , the result is AMAZING and it's so easy to follow your tutorial! Thank you so much ❤❤❤
Oh that’s so awesome and good work!!’
I thought this tutorial was really instructive and easy to follow; I assume she is an amateur (not hair dresser?) and if that is the case it (presentation/monologue & haircut)were done so well in my opinion and I love her hair color!
francess s I thought she was a professional hair stylist....🤔
Excellent instructions but the fact im way over due or my cut (actually this is the style I've for awhile and love)is the only thing keeping my chin up with my newly created leopard locks. ☹️
So off to find stuff to fix my orange hair from last night's home highlights.
Quarantine Extension until 6/4 at least
Definitely not.
I think she is a hairstylist
Only because I am one and honestly if you have no training or experience in this field you will botch your hair trying to attempt this haircut following her tutorial
You did an awesome job!!! I wish my hair looked as nice, long and straight as yours. You have beautiful hair. Good job!
Debbie Taylor aw thanks! I often wish my hair had more wave and body I feel we all want the opposite of what we have sometimes haha. I’m sure your hairs beautiful!
You are SO talented! I can't believe you did this beautiful haircut on your own.
Aw thank you!!
That was super impressive. I held my breath when you cut that pony tail off!!!
Thanks! Oh gosh so did I hahaha
You did a great job, I can't believe it was so easy. My hair is down to my waist and I need to cut it desperately. I will try to do it a little at a time, hopefully it will not be ruined.
DO IT!!!!
Oh yes little at a time when it’s that long is best! Good luck ☺️ you got this.
I love your personality! and how you went straight to the point. You make it look soo easy and effortless. definitely trying your techniques
I really admire your confidence, I can’t even cut my bangs 🤦♀️ The cut looks great👍🏻
Annamarie thanks! Honestly when I made the first cut I was all oh gosh no turning back now hahaha
Jami Swan Beauty what’s important is You didn’t stop. You kept on going and you made it work. I call that improvisation at its best ☺️👍👍
My husband just helped me do this cut and i love it!! Thank you for sharing a beautiful tutorial ❤️ if i had the thinning shears and such it would look even better. But this is much improved from before.
You, clearly, know what you're doing. I would have to get my hair professionally cut by a stylist. Your hair looks fabulous! Well done! 👏👏👍
Hands up if you'd like to see non professionals hairdressers attempt this...
I'm a nonpro and it was easy and looked beautiful. Go for it
KJA laughing. There are those who can and those who can’t. I am a can’t, and trust me I have plenty of RUclips cutting experiences.
Just did it. Is it perfect? Nope. Does it help me feel better about my head until the world opens back up? Ohhh yes.
I'm so envious of your fabulous thick hair! Razor and thinning shears are not even in my vocabulary.
Absolutely awesome tutorial, thank you so much. This is the best one I've found yet and my hair looks pretty darn good!
Bloody hell, not only does it look amazing but you saved yourself a fortune!!
I've watched other bob vids on YT but it's a fail every time. Your first step to section off the front made all the difference in the outcome. I am to so happy! I cannot thank you enough!
I've cut my own bangs for years, but it's the first time ever to cut the rest.
We have really similar hair and this worked great! Thank you so much! 💕
Awesome!!! Glad it turned out good for you too I’ve been hearing lots having good results!! 👏🏼☺️
Im so scared because my hair is very very thick
@@kels7794 My hair is straight, but it's like Diana Ross on steroids. It's that thick and heavy. You have to razor the ends so they are thinner.
Girl yes! How are you so
Ambordextrious?
Jami, you made that look so easy and doable!! I can't wait to try it on my hair!
🌹🌹🌹 Oh by the way, that length looks great on you 😊
Thanks! How did your hair turn out?
Good work! Happy to hear it worked out awesome for ya!!! 😁
Thank you so much for this tutorial!
I just followed your instruction, and gave myself the best hair cut ever!! ❤️
