I went to Plum Village in France for a month about twenty years ago during a really hot and humid summer and Thich Nhat Hanh looked almost the same as now. I'm not a practising Buddhist, never was really, but I still remember a lot of what he said. I especially remember the mindful walking through the surrounding woods and how healthy I was when I returned. Unfortunately I lived in the heart of Camden, London and the business and noise made it very difficult for me to maintain the peacefulness that was so easy in Bordeaux.

Dear Thay, you are a so beautiful person, you inspire me and you make me feel better every time I hear your voice. You seed the good Seeds in my thoughts. You are part of me and I want to try that this part grow and grow with the time. It’s very difficult but I try it because for me it’s very clear that you are showing to me a very essential way to live. I know that you are now very old and that you cannot anymore move your body but because you are part now of millions of people you’ll be forever on earth. Thank you very much dear Thay.

This dharma is the ultimate intelligence and the most sensible mindful way of life. Having respect for inter-being and understanding the nature of inter-dependence. Very difficult to practice and achieve but it is a clean and peaceful way to live. Compassion and wisdom is healing.

The absence of darkness means the present of light. Things inter are. If we recognise the existence of ill being we have to recognise the existence of happiness. There is a path leading to suffering and one leading to the opposite. Right view is a kind of insight a deep vision into reality. Can be called right view, a deep kind of insight- that is why the monk Katayana came to ask the Buddha to describe right view, he said that right view is an insight that transcends the notions of being and not being. We can touch this, a flower is, to be a flower is to be a collection of non flower elements, without which the flower cannot exist. The flower has to interbe with cloud, earth, rain, pollinating insects. To be by yourself is impossible- man can only interbe, to be means to protect the being of other parts of the world. Man is made only of kin self elements. Myself only exists in relation to the rest of the world. The separate self is an illusion. To have a true communication with the Buddha we need to see into the true nature of ourselves and the Buddha, as composed of non self and non Buddha elements. The right view is to transcend the notion of self breathe in and out dear Buddha I’m going to bow to you, aware that you are made of non Buddha elements, and I am made of non me elements, part of which is Buddha. I have Buddha nature in me, the capacity to love and to change. With right view you are free of all kinds of discrimination, you are one with the one you love, and have equanimity, non discrimination, inter being, your happiness is your loves happiness. In true love there is no longer any separate self, and soon your love will grow and embrace everyone inclusively. All will be in your heart and your love will be the love of the Buddha. True love should be able to create joy, you don’t suffer if your love is true love, joy should be an insight. Mudita is joy. Karuna or Compassion is a kind of energy which has the capacity to heal and transform. There is suffering in the liver and the beloved, true love has the capacity to heal. One needs to understand the nature of suffering to heal suffering, and you need mindfulness and concentration to create understanding and compassion. It’s is by understanding suffering that. The first element of true love is loving kindness. The art of producing loving kindness Is the art of the third mindfulness training. Loving ourselves is the way we can take care of the world because you suffer much less. If you suffer deeply you can’t help other people. Your presence is fresh beautiful full of stability and freedom. Improve the quality of your presence. How can you love unless you are there. To love means to be there. To love is to be there and to be there is a practice.

In our times in west psychologie, we teaching speaking about ours emotion when for example someone suffer with about behavior someone. We speaking about our emotion another person. It' s healthy for person which suffer, speak about their emotion and for the person which evokes that suffering, it's also information for that person that his behavor evokes such emotion.

I couldn't find where exactly in the Buddhist teachings it is mentioned that love is to be present for someone or any other of the five mantras mentioned by Thich Nhat Hanh here. This is one of the bad things about giving an extremely basic version of the teachings and not mentioning the official source: It impedes those people who want to continue study more deeply those teachings. I hope at least they exist somewhere and theyre not an invention.

I have the utmost respect for Thay and his humanness. Buddha said that we are to test the Dharma and I question some of Thay's and Buddhism's reasoning re. "emptiness": empty of a separate self / the flower is made of non-flower elements. This is referred to as "a very deep teaching". Honestly, it doesn't make much sense. How can a flower be made of non-flower elements if it's a flower? A flower is not made of noin-flower elements such as plastic, etc.
