Ashley's Thoughts on Height, Elevator Shoes, Suits (and MUCH More)
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 29 мар 2017
- @MensFashioner is a celebrity menswear stylist who has a lot of experience dressing and styling shorter men. I sat down with her in L.A. to talk about style for short men, height, confidence, suits and much more. Here's what we covered:
00:25 - Introduction
00:40 - Dressing the shorter man
02:52 - Fit and proportion
03:56 - Wearing patterns
05:50 - Style "rules" for short men
07:08 - Wearing elevator shoes
10:12 - Clothing brands
12:22 - Custom clothing
14:02 - Celebrity style
I think Ashley's overall attitude about height and style for shorter men is very positive and encouraging. She believes that being short doesn't really limit your style choices. You just have to pay extra special attention to fit and proportion - which is something ALL men should pay attention to.
If you have any questions about this discussion, leave a comment below, and I'll do my best to answer them. Thanks for watching!

We women short or tall can't get enough of high heels, why do we irk if a guy wants to have shoes to look tall. We girls need to stop judging guys on what makes them happy. We dress provocative or however we like and don't wanna be judged but are so vapid and judgmental in extending that same courtesy to guys. Let's lay off the hypocrisy ladies.
it's because a guy's height signifies dominance and false displays of dominance are ridiculed in all of nature.
gangliums superficiality is misconstrued to be dominance. It only appears to be something because of someone's perception. Height is all relative, just like beauty or attractiveness. It's interesting how if a guy appears authoritative due to his appearance he is considered authoritative, however if he is authoritative towards his significant other immediately we label him as a misogynistic pig. We only make a case for appearances because we lack some qualities or maybe it is low self esteem and come up with traits we feel encompass some godly being. It's all comic book nonsense where heroes who display all these superficial characteristics and this false appearance is subconsciously applied to our daily lives. Bottom line is this ladies, we cannot judge guys for doing things they do to feel happy, sexy, attractive or whatever and then judge them on the same things we hate to be judged on. A 7 ft tall person will think a 6 ft tall individual to be short, while a 5 ft tall person might see a 4 ft tall person as tiny. None of this matters and it is all perception. There is more to life, we all need to grow up.
TheTraffic247 it shpuldnt matter, I agree. But when youre ashort guy or a fat woman or w.e. life is harder for you. You gets way less dates, people take you less seriously, etc.... It shouldnt be, i eish it wasnt, i want to be around people who arent shallow, but this is still true.
These things become a problem when you yourself perceive them as such. Focus on self improvement and your strengths. Believe me if someone doesn't want to date you because you are not tall enough or don't fit in a size zero outfit. It is their problem, not yours. As a girl who has traveled and seen much, I know as women (every culture) we are much more judgmental towards our own gender and towards everyone else. Our insecurities always get the best of us. Men tend to be more visual, that's just their genetic makeup. If someone doesn't think you are attractive, that's perfectly ok. It does not mean you are not desirable. So stop beating yourself down because some ludicrous society rule made by shallow and insecure people tells you to. People who believe in these stupid perceptions are imperfect and insecure themselves, trust me. Actions speak louder than words, so go out and be yourself and do great things and be happy. The crowd will follow.
TheTraffic247 I see what you're saying, but not all women dress provocatively or even wear high heels. I know I don't. You shouldn't generalize. There's also plenty of women who date short men and are okay with men wearing elevator shoes. It's probably a problem for some if the guy doesn't tell them he's wearing elevator shoes. Then it's like dishonest. If a woman wears heels or make up you already know she doesn't look like that/isn't that tall.
Imagine being 5"2 and hearing her say the shortest man she dressed up was 5"3
Lol
Just grow drink milk

"Most Women don't even know a two inch difference" That's what she said.
"Is it in yet" lol
Women can see 1/4 inch difference from a mile away. Yes they will realize and notice a full 2 inches. A full 2 inches is a big big difference in height. Height ya the number 1 feature that attracts women
Many thanks, I've been looking for "the high life 1 inch shoe lift" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of - Piyackson Dignified Preponderance - (do a google search ) ? It is a great one of a kind product for discovering how to increase your physical height fast without the normal expense. Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my colleague got amazing results with it.
I've noticed it before but I gotta say...this guy is an AMAZING speaker! Staying calm, cool, and collected regardless of being one on one with a hotty or in a 360deg interview with a bunch of style professionals, some of which are ultra butch... staying casual and yet very focused, not rambling. Concise. Poised. Impressive
Thanks to Ashley for sitting down with me and answering some questions about dressing the man of modest height...enjoy!

Good vid brah. I’ll be honest tho brother, even in the picture you did look a little short in that double breasted suit and u weren’t even standing next to anyone. To me, you looked small in that pic and I guess it was the suit. I don’t know 🤷🏿♂️
Brock, this conversation series rocks. Full stop. Please do more and congrats.
Best regards,
F.
I went to go see Black Panther this past Friday night, and while this was not the first time, I did notice at the theater that a lot of guys my own height, and others barely an inch taller or shorter than me, all had beautiful dates (also taller, shorter, or the same height as them) and families of their own. This is not the first time I have noticed this, having seen plenty of short guys with girlfriends/wives, and just made me feel disappointed for feeling sorry for myself standing tall at 5'5. I still would like to try shoe lifts, just to see how they will work, but honestly, I will never feel bad about my height ever again and prefer to improve what I can about myself.
Blue-Eyed Dreamer yes, I live in Los Angeles and every day I’m out I see couples where the woman is the same height as or taller than the man. I’d estimate it’s 5 to 10% of all couples-not a small number at all.
I wouldn’t mind a few more inches (I’m about 5’7) but it’s really not that big a deal. Take care of your health, feed your mind, love yourself, work hard, and you’ll slay it.
If you´re going to wear lifts try to pick 6FEETCLUB or LiftKits, those are the best brands. And also, don´t wear more than 1 inch in real height gain 'cause the shoes start to look weird and people will notice.
Just dont ever ask women on their opinion on height and you can continue to feel happy and confident
I remember being very self conscious about my height in high school. Then I went to another school where the most popular guy in school was shorter than I was. And this girl I had a crush on but thought wouldn’t be into me because of my height, ended up dating him! So at that point I realized it was all about confidence. I started walking straight. And my wife now is (of course I’m biased) but she’s beautiful man she’s a 10. I also had a crush on her for years. I was in the fried zone. She has always dated tall men. In fact the guy she was talking to who she broke off with for me was 6’5. A whole foot taller than me! She to this day says she finds height attractive. But that after she started dating me she found me so attractive that she started finding other shorter skinny celebrities attractive. Like that became her preference because of me. And I think any women should be entitled to a preference. Some women just find height attractive and that’s perfectly fine. But I also think that preferences can and do change. So yeah it’s just about confidence, personality, maturity, humor etc.

“How tall is Shaq again?” THAT NAME DROP THOUGH DAMN ASHLEY
I think women will immediately notice how short a man is if they are taller than him. I don't believe that it's the last thing women notice because as a 5'6 guy, there are a lot of women taller than me in my country. Sad.
So what I am about 5'11 and my gf is almost 6'3 so she is noticably taller than me. We still love each other so much.
Well yes she has to love you because she's not going to find many men taller then her. Joking aside though a lot of women do have a personal preference to not date men shorter than them, which is fine, that's their preference. There are women who don't really mind shorter men either too.
Short ladies wear high heels daily so as to get the needed height, that's why elevator shoes have been brought into the market so as to help the short men get the extra inches to their height. It's obvious that the elevator shoes should have the natural ability to add a few inches to one's height, and that's why they are the best fashion option. Chamaripa shoes that make men taller 2~5 inches, the best elevator shoes online.
Soothsayer You're right. It's definitely not the last thing. I used to work with these two guys who were around your height and they were very handsome and dressed well. Then the new manager was a guy even shorter. He was also handsome and muscular and the women didn't care. They would always say, "He's cute but he's short." They said that about all 3 of them. So women notice that right away. It's pretty messed up because they were decent people and smart. I guess you just have to be yourself and the right women will find you and not care. Those women were superficial assholes.
You from England?
Ronnie Corbett, one of the best comedy actors ever, was a little guy and made jokes about his own lack of height, as did Ronnie Barker. The first thing I noticed about Ronnie Corbett however, was how very smartly dressed he always looked. His suits fitted him perfectly. I know, they would be bespoke and so were bound to fit perfectly, but it still showed how important correctly fitting clothes are. Plus he always “walked tall” and confidently.
I have no problem with my height (5'6") but I appreciated the fashion advice. Thanks for both of your time!
Try my height 5'3. I'd kill to be 5'6.
@@cloroxbleach3936 same
@@cloroxbleach3936 Yeah women shorter than you are insecure so they always want to compensate and taller ones won't be interested in you. Sucks to be that height. I am not that tall myself (5'7) but I have found that shorter women are the ones who judge me than the ones who are around my height.

100% agree on wearing stuff that fits. I'm a thinner guy, only 5'7" and I pretty much only buy Ralph Lauren because they actually have an XS in men's. Their XS T's and Polos fit me perfectly. It makes a world of difference from other brands that are loose. Loose clothes scream skinny and small. Any other suggestions on brands that run small?
Your not 5'7 if your wearing xs I'm 5'7 and a size small stops at exactly at my waist
Ralph Lauren are like made for fat people. My closet is full of R.L. stuff, I like the brand a lot but not the fit. I’m 164 cm, 50 kg and XS is still way too big.
antiDestroyer waist to shoulder ratio differs for different people. They go below my belt but not by much. There certainly is more length desired when I’m reaching for anything.
Yes Ralph Lauren shirts are perfect
Good advice on choosing small instead of regular
I know this is an old video but I feel like this needs to be said. Your confidence and physique level are the 1st forms of communication as a man. I stand at a healthy 5'7 And I manage to catch the interests of gorgeous women in the 6 ft range. I was initially taken away by the attention that I would get by these tall, beautiful women, but in reality I needed to acknowledge that all the years that I've put in the gym and all the internal work that I have put into myself to be the best version of myself has allowed my sexual prowess to reach a level that speaks for itself. Quite literally, so guys I highly suggest you get your butt in the gym and you work on yourself internally and everything else will fall into place.

Few brands seem to offer short sizes and when they do, they're seldom all in stock but short guys should opt for MTM or even bespoke, better to have one really well made suit than four ill-fitting off the racks.
Wow you're celebrity of men's stylist, Ashley!
Custom (MTM) is the way to go in my opinion, at least when it comes to shirts and suits. The price often isn't that much higher than off-the-rack, and it's definitely worth the wait. Actual tailoring, like bespoke, is understandably prohibitedly expensive for the most of us since I'm guessing that your target audience is guys in their twenties and thirties. Anyway, great collab. I'd love to get more suggestions for lesser known brands with appropriate sizing and ok pricing. Thanks!
Agreed that MTM is a great option for many men, especially for shirts. MTM suits are very hit or miss, assuming you're doing it online. If you can get measured in person (by someone who knows what they're doing), that's a better option.
I would say fit comes first, chosing colors comes 2nd and patterns would be 3rd.
I can pull off some big patterns with the right fit.
I use lifters inside my shoes, when dating a girl taller than me on situation that I know she's probably wearing high heels, so the difference wouldn't be too much (going to the club, attending a wedding for example)
Ashley is just being nice here and doesn't want to offend anybody who is a little bit on the short side. Girls notice if a guy is shorter than she is, and they don't like it. I once
had a blind date with a girl and we met at a restaurant We proceeded to sit down and have a drink before we ordered. We both engaged in a conversation and the first thing she said to
me was, I thought you would be taller. Whereby, I almost said I thought you would be prettier. Guys remember, girls want guys that are taller than they are. C'mon Ashly you know this.
I won't lie it's true a lot of the times which is why being short can be a disadvantage but it doesn't mean you're doomed. My brother is about 5'6 and his wife is 5'9, and you can tell she loves him. I won't lie my brother had to work on himself a lot but it can happen, but it does suck short dues have to work so hard for what tall guys can get easier.
I'm 6'6 and I can't tell the difference between my friends who are 5'6 and 5'10. Also, taller people can also be a bit self-conscious. It's sometimes awkward to walk into and be the tallest person by 6 inches.
respect bro
@@pranjalshelar3830 for what
The only problem with being small is finding clothes that fit. You can wear anything, if you find your fit.
Fit trumps all, but I'd argue that color and proportion are very important too.

HI Modest Man, what is your favorite brand of dress shoes? What is your favorite color for dress shoes?

Brock, question about the jacket length. Is the mid-crotch length recommended for all jackets? Are you guys talking casual such as leather and denim? Or more dressy casual and formal like blazers and suit jackets?
We were talking about sportcoats, blazers and suit jackets, not casual jackets like leather jackets or denim.
She's the best.
Most of the time, it's the good look that's people looking for when going out to meet! Wealth, fashion, height, attitude, or whatever is just a bonus! You can be homeless person but if you have a cute/pretty face?! Ding ding you win their attention! So it's really doesn't matter what you wear or how carry yourself, it's up to the girl if she thinks you look good enough to be with her in the bed! And everything else she puts a side. then later she helps you with the other stuff that you're lacking of!
I've been looking forward to more elevator shoes content, eager to watch.
Nice... do you wear them? Any favorite brands?
I can attest to Don's, sincerely. The build quality is astonishing. Solid heel, great worksmanship overall.
I got a 2.5 inch lift option, with regards with your conversation with Ashley above I'd like to think that option falls into the category of "Pshhaw it's not a big deal" . I wouldn't want to go overly large for reasons including comfort and not solely likeliness to be noticed.
The ones I'd gotten wear slightly too small and I sold them on, I've since now purchased another two which are to arrive shortly. If you'd be interested I will indeed let you know how my own personal experience with them goes.
The new ones are 2.5 inch black double monk strap (I've wanted monk for a while) and the other, getting ready for summer, is a light brown tan brogue oxford, 3.15 inch. Larger than I'd have liked, however it was on sale.
Normally the nicer MST (mid sole tech) shoes tend to be £200 I've seen, managed to get these pairs for £100 each. The MST produces less of a slope, where the heel portion up to the midfoot is mostly flat, then dropping more towards the toe. Helps with stopping the foot being on an incline throughout the whole length, unlike women's heels.
edit: I'm 176cm, 5'9", 5'10" on a good day. Not short, nor tall.
Larry King I wear these to get an even larger height advantage over losers such as yourself.
I'm in conversation with ModestMan discussing shoes until you come along decide "You know what? I'm feeling insecure about being 5'6". Let's make a comment ridiculing this guy, even though it's totally not necessary and the convo beforehand has been completely amicable."
It's people like you who ruin RUclips.
At the end of the day you're still a 5'6" shrimpie though and I'll always have that on you. Have fun picking up the scraps I leave behind.
I don't think you read the first reply. It's not a need or a feeling, it's a Machiavellian drive to make use of any and all advantages available. I wouldn't expect you to understand though, it's okay to be hurt. You're a horrible person in general with nothing better to do than shame strangers you don't know online. Such a sad little man. I feel sorry for you. I hope you manage to find a woman who can perhaps look past your ugly personality.

Darker colors talk up more space to your eyes. Think of say a counter top one dark granite and one white marble.
This guy is an alpha male...even though he's shorter (like me) he has tons of confidence.
Arm length on off-the-peg sports coats etc. are too long even in the short size. They should allow a little bit of shirt cuff to be showing. It’s easy to shorten trouser/pants length, but the buttons on the sleeves, limit how much they can be shortened .
She was amazing.

Well from personal experience women do notice when you go from taller than them to shorter than them even by half a inch.
12:30 I would bet a 100 she was gonna say K. Hart. The man looks great!
I'm around 5'7, never really had lack of women in my life. Some flat out rejected me for being too short. But hey, one rule to stick by is: If a girl won't date you because of that. Then move on and find someone who will.

I want these. I'm 22 and only 5'2. It would be great to not be 8 inches shorter than the average guy.
7:50 IMO, it the complete opposite for me. If you're wearing lift for comfort or confidence then that fine. But if you're wearing lift inside of normal shoe just so people think you're taller than that compensating. On the other hand, platform and shoe with heel on the outside is visible to everyone. How is someone wearing shoe with 2 inch platform (which is better for your feet than a 2 inch insole) compensating? But hiding your 2 inch inside normal shoe is fine? If being taller make you more confidence then wear platform of shoe with heel. People can see it and know that you're be shorter bare foot. No one can say that you're insecure or catfishing with your height.

thank you for mentioning Kevin Hart. :) don't know he is 5'2"
I am not short but I find it awful that so many women think shorter men are undateable. So many women think this is okay, including my best friend. Yet if a man chooses not to date heavier women, they are often thought of as superficial and misogynistic. Let’s take a step back.. between height and weight, one can be controlled based on lifestyle and choices made, and one cannot. In fact weight may actually tell you some things about a person’s self. Not saying either is acceptable or not, but why tf would be okay to discriminate based on height but not okay to discriminate based on weight?
dillcifer i think of height for men as being more akin to cup size for women (although even then the women have an easier time changing this then men do)
I wonder what would happen if men started putting cup size requirements in their dating profiles...
How tall is he?
