@@puigi haha you saw me last week. Thanks bro!
No problem my dude. This community always looks out for each other.
you are bad bro
Yes
This era is so unique and weird, it’s like kirk and lars are still on the black album tour but james and jason are morphing into the load era. james has blown his voice out in the earlier years, jason cut his hair already, lars is playing a load-sized black album drum kit, and kirk seems to be just as he was on the black album tour
Well put. I remember it all started when Jason showed up on some TV gig (MTV music awards?) with the buzz cut, i'll never forget seeing that as a teenager thinking "holy shit!" even though it was just a damn hair cut.
James with the Billy Ray Cyrus haircut lol 😂 😂 😂
my thoughts exactly haha, also complete with the Load/re-load era incomplete version of MoP
Kirk had a slight bit of load reload in him
@@VBshredder American Music Awards
I miss Jason and his vocals on live performances he had such a deep growl.
Agreed absolute BEAST🤘
Hi
ITS FUCKIN’ WHIPLAAAASH!!!
Jason was the fire in Metallica and ruled the stage every show
He FOCKING LEFT THE BAND
The era when James went full trailer trash, Kirk looked like Michael Jackson, and Jason was just a head banging neck.
And Jesus Christ as drummer
John Cena on Bass
My fave James era
And lars was just the same but with a cool beard
And a homeless guy on drums lol
If not Coronavirus we will never been able to watch those treasures
That is so very true
@@annetteslife sad but true
Not true for every gig, some of them were readily available on YT. Chicago and Muskegon, for instance.
So...How about asking for another pandemic. Maybe new stuffs we might get being under 7 palms of hands under the surface, who knows?
It appears as though throughout Jasons entire time with Metallica, he played with the most continuous passion. Its almost as if hes still the teenager with a dream, playing in his room 110%. That guy sure gave his all.
Spot on
Always love Jason's backing vocals on Creeping Death. He was so good
This was a strange time to be a Metallica fan. You could tell they were morphing into something else but I don't think anyone could have predicted what came next.
Make up shoŕt hair midas well say spandex what a load ×2 not just on load two ok one was the music video some dreaded but i say it was a masterpiece like no other video only Metallica could pull of i meen a move music video blended with metallicas music genius that transition was welcome but load what a load of💩🤢🤮 yaaaaaaaaaack🤧🤧🤮 yaaaaack🥴🤯🥵🤮🤮 yack🤢🤬🤪🤮 yaaaaaaack 🤮yaaaaaaaack👎🙌💔💣💥🎆🧨☄⚡🆘️🇫🇮 the rest is history
This and the 1995 era shows are definitely a weird transitional period in the career. Now a transition between the "album eras" is nothing new for Metallica since they always have done smaller tours for summer and what have you between album tours. Not gonna lie they seemed pretty rested during this year and next before Load hit the scene.
Lars has his Jesus look, Kirk has dreadlocks, Jason is buzz cut, James has almost none of the old growl at this point and is slowly building the Load era voice and the Ulti-Mullet. Just...strange.
@@natecooper8928 I like your funny words magic man
Totally agree ! i always hear many younger fans , saying it's no big deal . But they don't understand how drastic the change was at the time . Metallica went from a hard rock image , to 4 guys dressed in pimp suits on an album cover . And suddenly playing in alternative music festivals . The song writing also changed very much . Justice and the Black album , were based on an intelligent song writing style . They went from that to songs like Ain't my Bitch
1996-1997was a strange time gor metal. Metallica changed bigtime. Motley Crue is another one. I don't think fans were expecting that. But looking back the music wasn't bad.
How good is Jason and his contribution, great entertainer.
Yes ! he became a huge part of the bands live shows . They didn't think hard enough when they replaced him Rob . They made the wrong choice
Jason Newsted was just perfect match for the band, I really miss him...

It's too bad they treated him like crap
100% Rob doesn't fit this band . Even if he is technically a better bassist .
@@SJ-ty5rw sad but true
@@3Tman4 Rob is great but I'n genuinely confused when people say he's better than Jason. The only meaningful difference between them is that Rob is allowed more creative freedom.
Jason was such a huge asset to this band. He was my bassist for Metallica as I grew up in late 80's early 90's
the backing vocals on battery and creeping death, Jason was a beast
@f8talh8red of course everyone has their own favs & opinion, I read several articles where other musicians & bass players have said that Jason was so good that these musicians said he was better than cliff. You can't compare, there's no need to do so considering you can never tell anyway since cliff's death.
@@anthonymichalski9015 Totally agree. To be honest I love all Metallica's bassists but Jason has a special place in my heart.
I just can't say much about Ron I don't know much about him
I love Rob as a bass player, and of course I love Cliff. Jason was such a badass, and I miss his vocals more than anything.
David St Hubbins meh that’s all he offered was vocals... Metallica made him ... every project he has been involved in since has been trash...
94’ was a solid year for Lars, you can also notice James’ voice changing

Lars is drumming fantastic here. I don't know or care about his technicality as a drummer, he sounds amazing here, as I remember him being!
Its his peak, experience, nothing to prove , fun , inspired and dedicated, relaxed.
Better swing and back beat
nothing wrong with lars on the drums overall, its become a "cool" to say he sucks for some reason! with that said he did butcher breadfan pretty bad!
lars is my favourite drummer. stamina :) emotion :) timing :) taste :) - i understand that he is not pushing any boundaries in heavy metal drumming, but the way he adds his instrument to the mixture of guitars and bass, and the songwriting is very satisfying. he plays his part perfectly. he knows what to play in a (hate to say it but) pop-heavy metal band. metallica is the most palatable band to come out of the early 80's bay area thrash-metal scene and they went on far beyond when they should have disbanded - for their physical and mental healths' sake - but that's my opinion. I love metallica, i would say they are my favourite band (aside from Dio) within the whole "hard music" umbrella. have a great day.
He does what the song needs, as does everybody in Metallica.
I love Rob, but miss Jason so much! He brought something so special to the band

When Lars grabbed his iPhone to read and sort of had to focus like an old man... that is when it hit me. I love all of you please exist forever
This was such a good time for music! This was an awesome tour! These guys were on top of their game, even when some weird shit was going on with metal too...
A few of my metal head buds and I went to this tour in NJ... Lawn seats, nothing crazy. We made our way down to the front of the lawn and I saw this guy walking back and forth, I don't know why but I yelled "hey man, over here"
He walked over and slapped a back stage pass on me, said see you after the show...
I nearly shit my pants!!!!
Made my way back stage and hung out in a room with about 25 other ppl, Jason and Kirk came out and bullshit with everyone for a few min, then Lars came out, so for the time, this dude was my drumming idol and I know I'm not alone. And he sat right next to me and started asking me about my shirt.. holy hell! I didn't know what to do!!!!
We bullshit for a few and he moved on... I talked to James and that was cool, but holy shit! Lars!

They used to make bank from album sales tho. All well and good everyone having access to music via Spotify but the artists have got to make money somehow - especially those like Metallica who are used to a certain level of income
I've been told that back then the ticket master fee was only $1 not 50% of the ticket price
@@BurnMyEyes0107 that may be true nowadays but I recall the ticket prices in the late 90's into the early 2000's skyrocketing. last time I saw Metallica was in 1999 - $50 a ticket and people were complain then about the price (the year before they were asking like $20-$30 or something! oh sure, napster and others were a thing but people were still buying albums overall.
