I didn't know Queen Mary offered Jane a lifeline by avoiding the death penalty via converting to Catholocism. Amazing how strong minded she was to stick to her faith even in death, and just a teenager.

She Just got sucked into something that I really don't think she wanted any part in but since she as the chosen one by Edward she couldn't say no. Sadly, I think Mary I had become a bitter woman by this time, she was considered an old maid by now, and pretty much took it out on Lady Jane because she was in the time that was rightfully hers.

Thank you for your video. I know the portrait at the start is presumed to be Lady Jane Grey but what I don't understand about it and others like it is why they look so strange? That one seems more like a caricature as do many of Anne Boleyn, Elizabeth I and etc. (The drawing you showed of her - if it is her - looks more like a human being. )

I believe Beauchamp only deteriorated into Beecham (in England) relatively recently.
So I suppose 'yes' she pronounced it wrong, and 'no' not really. 😉

    • @bonniemagpie5166

Mary Tudor couldn't tolerate The Protestant threat. Elizabeth ( Mary's half sister) was also Protestant but she played the game and showed Catholic acceptance towards Mary. Elizabeth played her cards very well (she born during the year of The Snake) but Lady Jane Grey could not place a lie over her heart and put on a Catholic face. She would have been a lovely Queen.

What I think is truly fucked up is that Mary knew from experience that woman especially anyone with royal blood was a pawn to be used as a game piece she knew this she seen what her dad did to not only her mother but to any of the women his gaze fell on to she knew all of this she knew Jane was a pawn used by powerful men but Mary put her to death that makes me not think to highly of her she had her grandmother In her when it came to her religion
