5:55 the SNES has a sound chip made by Sony, which in theory is capable of playing sound in CD Quality. Due to limited space on the cartridges, they couldn't go all in tho. Safe space is no problem with the FxPak Pro anymore.
Cartridge space was a problem, but the biggest problem was that the DSP only had access to 64k of RAM, and that RAM was also used for the sound driver and sound effects, so you're looking to about 24k of buffer data to get constantly filled by the CPU. 44.1KHz/16-bit (CD Red Book) audio requires at least 690Kbps or 86KB/s to play. In theory, the DSP could play Red Book audio, but the SPC CPU was too underpowered to do so.
Years later it still has problems with save states. It's a gamble once you reach a critical point in a game whether you chance saving your state in a game with the FX pack Pro. It can crash the whole game. Try it with Soldiers of Fortune. Great game to be able to save that state but crashes it every time. I've tried this with original snes and analog. Almost perfect but not just there. I hope they will come out with one more firmware update to help this issue.

I agree that it is a bit expensive, but this is likely the best flash cart for the SNES that we will ever get. It's a one time purchase that will probably last you forever.
To me, it’s hard to tell, wether it’s worth it. There are two different situations, where the FX Pack Pro might be worth it. One is piracy, justified with “Just want to play the game” or “collector’s prices being too high. The other one might be being a collector and using this device to prolong the lifespan of the cartridges. Well, a collector at this point would be everybody who still has the original games. Prices will continue to go up for pretty much everything and at some point, playing those games will be equal to gambling. Playing games like Chrono Trigger already is just that. So yea, I would argue, the asking price for this cartridge will continue to be more and more fair. That being said: This ignores the price for the console. I got the FX Pak Pro together with a Super NT, which was cheaper than getting a SNES, getting it restored , modded and buying a proper upscaler. And still, comparing this to the use I get out of a Mister FPGA makes the FX Pak Pro a questionable expense. I did. go for it and If it wasn’t for the fact, that the Super NT enables me to dump the games, when using the jailbreak firmware for it on top of playing the games.
Kudos to those who put the work into making these things. While the price might make sense considering the effort behind it, it's a long way away from the production cost. That makes it tougher to swallow, and honestly, those that are most into vintage gaming would likely rather buy the real cartridges if they don't already have them. In the end, this puts the product in a weird spot, and I question the market strategy and if it's really very profitable. I could be wrong, but I doubt they're gonna see my money at least. I've wanted to get into SNES for a while, since I never had one myself, and a multicart thing might have been a factor if it had been relatively cheap. But it isn't. Not this cart, and not the others. I think I'd rather pay a bit less and see if the experience warrants spending more on it. Also, if you want to own the games legally, you still have to buy the carts anyway. That leaves only the convenience of not having to swap carts.
Have you seen the prices on some of the most popular/desirable games? One copy of chrono trigger is more than the cost of this flash cart. You could easily spend over $1000 building a collection of retail carts for the SNES. Not to mention, these cartridges are really aging at this point.
