Ima go out and buy this right now! love emulation and I had no idea that it was so easy to play on OG hardware. I have a nice CRT SNES and NES all ready to rock
I have an Everdrive for my Genesis (because best console ever) and my Nintendo 64 (because emulation still doesn't feel 100% for that console yet). Best purchase I've ever made. It really gives that jukebox feeling we always wanted as kids with the original hardware. The next one to pick up is the SNES one for me.
Thanks I was really hoping you would review this!
I have another one coming soon too. Something 64 times better 😉
:O
Mine just shipped and I can't wait for it to get here! I'm here watching to build up hype lol
Is it worth buying?
@@kylerobinson6102 I've really been enjoying mine. Only game I've had trouble getting to boot is Ballz 3D (which I was only streaming as a joke anyway!) but everything else has worked like a charm. I decided to buy one because I'm bowing out of collecting retro games as a hobby due to the expense and space commitment involved, and this is a great way to cap off my SNES collection. I would say that if you have the money and you think you'll play on it a lot, it's worth every penny. You could easily drop this much on a single copy of some particularly rare titles.
Great video! I've got a Everdrive N8 Pro, love it, great product! Can not say enough good things about krikzz and the products they put out! I also own a master everdrive X7 for my mega sg so I can play master system rom games on it! Very cool products!
I got a rasperry pi and notice some input delay. Certain games (e.g. Mega Man, Tyson's Punch Out), it is very noticeable. Do Everdrives have any of this delay?
@@pcm2fchris not to my knowledge they don't. Buy the one that says krikzz on it. Otherwise your getting some cheap chinese knockoff. The everdrives are basically fpga, which means they are replicating the original NES cartridges mappers and chips, the Famicom and Famicom disk system too if you buy the pro version. This isn't software emulation, it's the real hardware cartridge deal and worth the money!
those pokemon figures are terrifying...
You should check out my dedicated video on them 🤣😂
They are terrifying but for some reason I wanna buy them 😂😂😂
Where would I go to buy them?
Got the 7x for my sega and its awesome.
The fxpro will be here Tuesday!!
you wont be disappointed!
It also supports MSU-1 enhanced games which is pretty cool.
Regarding why you’d want higher size microSD cards, there are very large files like CD-quality music files that the FXPak Pro has support for.
LMAO before the crickets kicked on I thought you were serious for a split second about Dirt Racer!
I just bought one from krikzz and it actually came in a hard case like genesis games, super cool
This one is really interesting 😄
I got me a mega everdrive and it is definitely worth the price, and next on my list is grabbing me one for the Neo Geo pocket color. 👌
I put an order about 3 weeks ago. Still waiting for it to come in the mail.. I dont think this is expensive tho when you compare it to the amount of money you would spend building the SNES library.. thank you for the information and the links..
Thinking of ordering one myself. I assume yours is here. If so, how do you like it? Do you notice any input delay, compared to original carts?
@@pcm2fchris it works the same way as an original cartridge. Plus you can add cheat codes and also play hacked or patched games.
I'm glad it fits everything.
I got a super famicom in Japan with some j only games.
i had an everdrive x5 for my megadrive.well worth paying the extra for a quality product
Yeah I'm definitely getting this. That price though is expensive but worth it.
Just got my FXPak Pro for my SuperNT! ✌️
great video bro
Thanks man!
I have a question...I read a couple of reviews that mentioned something about screen tearing with some games that used special chips such as Yoshi's Island. Had anyone experienced anything like that with this?
Also I definitely am considering a FXPak Pro, but I was waiting to see what would happen. Looks like someone might have gotten Super Game Boy 2 compatibility going so that might be a purchase sooner rather than later.
So I'm thinking of getting a super famicom instead of the grey and purple snes because where I live the snes is stupid expensive and they're beat up and dirty, so does fxpak pro fit in a sfc and play all usa roms no problem? What about like super scope and stuff like that?
Just ordered one after watching this video
When the Analogue Super NTs go back on sale I'll be looking to get one of these along side it in the future. In the meantime I'm looking forward to the Terraonion MODE for the Sega Saturn (and Dreamcast)
@Karl Burnett True but you have to load a custom FW (right?) and will probably void warranty if you do. But either way, good call on that.
Karl Burnett it doesn’t play special chips or MSU so it’s not the same at all. Only 80% the same lol
James Osburn yup, can’t get it fixed if it messes up
Or just get a basic MiSTer setup for about $200, and a raphnet dual snes controller adapter for $30. With that setup you can run >99% of the SNES library with 100% accuracy and virtually zero lag, as well as the full libraries of all the other major 8 and 16 bit systems
prufrockrenegade please stop. You aren’t helping the conversation.
I do wish that they still offered the shells with these that have the LED extenders where it appears that the LED's are on the shell itself so you can see them better. Other than that love the new look of the FXPAK Pro.
The custom firmware that adds Super Gameboy and Save State support is great!
First thing I'm going to do as soon as it's in! Just got my Super NT, let's goooooooo!
Have you tried playing the ROM of the SF-1 modded Gradius 3 on it?
Not yet, but ill give that a shot and let you know how it performs
@@Restalgia Sweet!
No slowdown in Gradius 3 sounds like a miracle.
I have and it is flawless. My skills how ever aren't. Even the arcade version has slowdown and like the snes version is tough as nails. With no slowdown in the snes SA-1 version the game feels as if its running in fast forward mode. Death rate and game over screen included.
I have. It’s awesome!
Hello I have FXPAKPRO but I did not see where the save state function is. In game settings there is no save state menu running v1.10.3. Pease help....
Ok you got me on Dirt Racer. 🤣
Good review.
Man I wish I had this as a kid.
yes game gear and NES krikzz...they're fantastic! beats all emulation stuff!
Hi there I just got this from Stone Age gamer can you tell me where a reliable place would be to get decent Ramz dumps thanks
I got one of these recently. It's close to perfect, since very few games are still unsupported. Sadly, Sufami Turbo games (including the Carranger game, which I enjoy playing) are among these unsupported games for now. This is very minor compared to what the cart can do, though.
I've heard that older/2-chip SNES has trouble running the FXPAK PRO, and the 1-chip SNES is the only model that can run it reliably. Anyone know anything else, confirm/deny?
I'm glad it can handle larger size SD cards, that MSU-1 library of titles takes at lot of space.
I'm actually trying to get one now but all the websites are sold out. ☹️
Yeah unfortunately they are sold out everywhere. Krizz is located in Ukraine and he has had to flee his main office due to the ongoing war. He did get re-established but I would assume it will be a while before we see regular stock. You may need to purchase one second hand.
The SD2SNES Pro and the FXPak Pro are identical. He had to change the name. There was an original SD2SNES, which you may be attempting to reference.
I got a rasperry pi and notice some input delay. Certain games (e.g. Mega Man, Tyson's Punch Out), it is very noticeable. Do Everdrives have any of this delay?
Please help! Are you using a 10v (1.2a) power adapter? I'm getting corrupted graphics on startup.
Black Friday sale seems to be the best time to get it.
The Mister Project...also a great alternative for SNES FPGA
FPGA coming soon to my channel 😉
For some reason my fx pak wouldn't fit into my NA console properly, the part that locks the cartridge in when you switch the power on, but after taking it apart it works properly now. Love my FX pak, GBA mini and N64 x7 drive.
Nice 🙏
How well does DOOM play on the fxpak pro? I just got a regular sd2snes from Amazon. And DOOM plays slow. Not regular speed.
How do you do game saves? You mentioned at 10:00 that you can save game progress on ur SD card
Since there's no region lock. Would a PAL SNES run NTSC? Or would there be issues.
Been wanting to open my cartridge, can anybody tell me the name of the screws used so I can buy the right screwdriver? Sorry I’m a noob to all this stuff lol
does this work with the SNS-101 model?? (sometimes referred to as New-Style Super NES)
Id get this for the MSU-1 chip for things like BS Zelda, ALTTP with the intro video and orchestra music, and super star wars MSU-1. It is a cool little gadget. But at the same time, my Retropie is pretty damn accurate at this point, as far as I can tell. I go back and fourth between original hardware and Retropie pretty frequently. All for the love of retro gaming lol.
Do flash carts work with the snes gen 2? The smaller one with the oval buttons.
Does anyone know here if this'll work on clone consoles such as the SRT3+ or Retron 3 hd?
How often are Everdrives released? It looks like this one and the Mega Everdrive Pro are over a year old. Should I wait for new revisions? I just got a Mega SG and a Super NT and can load the cracked firmwares bit won't be able to play the SNES enhancement chips or Sega CD games so that is why I'm looking into Everdrives.
Does this play on a Retron game console that plays SNES NES and Sega game cartridges? .
I love it but i dont think ill buy one its a little steep for me at the moment. There are a few consoles id like to get instead but maybe in the future🙏
Is anyone else having issues with game saves disappearing or corruption of those saves?
Do you know if you have to put the BS-X Bios on to the Fx Pak Pro to run Satelliview games like Ancient Stone Tablets, and BS Zelda no Densetsu? Also, Can it run Star Ocean that is not patched? Just curious because I have one of these on the way, and I am setting up the SD card before it gets here. Great review, Thanks!
As of 3-23-23 FXPro is in stock on Stone Age Gamer
This device is amazing I love it I have one for my Mega SG
It’s truly the only way to play honestly.
Hey, nice vid. If i have an older firmware version, do I just overwrite the old files with the new ones, is there a firmware flash i need to run ? TIA
Just ordered one
did you get it yet? might buy it based on this review vid
@@spiralings yes, but I haven't trired it yet.
I got excited a second thinking this was for a new firmware update
nope, just a boring old review video ;-)
Restalgia I love your videos! I’ve just been looking forward to a new firmware update for a while! XD
Restalgia SD2SNES v1. 10.3 firmware with Savestates is available!
Works on both OG and Pro versions
Easy way to customize save / load inputs (check readme)

Any chance on a video on how to get cheat codes and game genie working?
Thanks.
hi thanks for your video I wanted to ask about the super game boy if I was to get an overdrive for gameboy game boy colour would it work o the ones using the super game boy ?
what monitor is that? does it take rca input?
hello, I'm Brazilian, I'm not able to register on the site you informed??
I bought the shippest version of it an it stop working. So sad 😢
Where are those derpy Pokemon from?
I have the model of SD2SNES that is shown in the beginning of the video. I will more than likely be getting FXPAK PRO. I play SNES games on an SNES 2 and Super NT. As far as flash carts i have official Krikkz versions only the Chinese knock offs are garbage.
So how do we add cheats..
Does this cart come with a micro sd or do you need to purchase that separately? Feedback would be much appreciated
Where can one find the wonderful Pokemon in the beginning of the video and WTF is that game with the cat riding the rocket?
Hello! Thanks for the video! I just got the FXPAK Pro and set it up. The problem is no audio is coming out. The games work perfectly but there is no audio. I am using an original Super Nintendo. Has this happened to you?
I have the regular SD2SNES. Great cart. I don't think it's worth upgrading for me personally
Agreed. With firmware updates, it can handle FX games
I agree. I've had my SD2SNES almost 2 years and after first updating it plays Starfox 1&2, Yoshi, MSU1 etc.. As someone who used the Snes floppy disk wild card floppy disk system in the 90s (cool at the time) I've been really impressed with SD2SNES and don't think it's worth it for me.
Don't blame you. The main reason the pro exists is because they stopped producing the FPGA chip used in the original SD2SNES.
3:18 MSU-1 modded titles can be up to 4gb so that'll help (those are the hacks with CD quality audio)
What's the internal clock do anyways?
Would this work on a clone system
This does look pretty cool, but I think I'll just continue to wait a bit longer. Maybe one day they will be able to release a multi-cart with 100% compatibility, or at least a way for me to play Far Eden of the East. Also I'm also hoping for Save States if that's at all possible. Games like Jurassic Park on the SNES absolutely need it unless you learn how to speed run it.
Until then I'll just use my Super NT, and special chip physical carts.
Learn to read japanese the game is 10 dollars on ebay
@joepotato3565 I studied Japanese for around 8 months. I could maybe read a Pokemon game with me needing to look up every other word. I'd imagine it would take close to 3 years to be at a childs level in Japanese. I stopped learning for around 4 to 5 months because I burned myself out. And forgot a ton. I plan on slowly learning again like 10 minutes a day. But me being able to learn the language and enjoy the game would take a long time.
Great video thx ! Just wondering one thing... what is the micro-USB slot (on the right of the SD card slot) used for ?
Developer programming
I got one off eBay for $200 and I was told it to Pro version. I see it say Pro on the back of the board inside the casing but I can't get sa1 patches to work with msu-1 patches.
Other than that I am so damn happy with it it's ridiculous.
But, does it support translation files and other patches?
Yes you can load all that in there and shouldn't have any issues running.
Where did you download the roms?
Only SNES games are playable on the snes or NES, GB, GB COLOR, GB Advance too?
Only snes and gb. Not gbc.
Can this everdrive run GBA, GBC, NES or GENESIS roms?
The cursed pokemon are back!
Will the cart work on a SupaRetron HD?
Which games are not compatible with this one? Can it play the fan English patched Star Ocean?
Star ocean is playable. There are 5 currently unsupported games. They are:
Hayazashi Nidan Morita Shogi
Hayazashi Nidan Morita Shogi 2
Far East of Eden Zero
Momotaro Dentetsu Happy
Super Power League 4
@@Restalgia Thanks for your reply. Far East of Eden Zero actually looks really cool and there is a fan translation too. A bit of a shame. Momotaro Dentetsu Happy looks pretty cool too. But, that said. The FXPAK Pro is clearly the best on the market at this time. I'm looking to get one and a SNES HDMI solution. Great video btw, top stuff! Subbed!
I just came out from SmokeMonster's channel and he mentioned that someone managed to get Super Gameboy running on a SD2SNES cart. Will this run it?
Yes, but you need the modified firmware files.
I can't seem too get the nice red one anywhere!
My question is where did you get the charmander?
I am thinking of getting this cart. Does this cart have different versions?
So I need to change the battery every 10 years?
Is the FXPakPro compatible with the SuperNT as well? Or will the voltage resistors cause long term damage?
I was watching lots of reviews of super NT and sd2snes this past week and I did came across people talking about this issue and according to the developer of the super NT he said that voltage differential will not hurt the super NT at all, as for the original snes it maybe can cause problem in theory but extremely unlikely will be a problem. I think the voltage difference was 3.5V vs 5V something like that.
@@vhx5438 thank you for your answer. I had a couple concerns to figure out before buying this, namely the compatibility with the SuperNT and the FXPak Pro. Many forums discuss the sd2snes, and I know streamers that use a sd2snes and a SuperNT, but no one seems to have commented on the FXPak Pro itself.
There could in theory be a difference in how the FXPak Pro runs vs the sd2snes on a SuperNT, because of the improvements to the FXPak Pro mentioned in this video. But it is good to know that the voltage issue covered here is at least not an issue
All that said, I have been told it should work fine and have a couple retro discords from twitch to help work out kinks. I'll update here after receiving my FXPak Pro and trying it out with a few games
These things still have the voltage conversion issue? I've heard its been partially mitigated since it was first brought up in 2017 but not fully resolved and the creator of these flashcarts brushes off any questions about it. Apparently it could be resolved easily with a redesign. Not great to "overrev" the snes so to speak.
does this work on analogue super nt?
Does this cart have a save state feature?
A small correction for your video. The original SD2SNES (Non-Pro models) were the ones with the fewer features.
The SD2SNES Pro that was released at the end of 2019 is identical to the FXPak Pro you're reviewing here. The name was just changed due to a copyright issue.
Most likely the "SNES" in the title...
@@RedRanger2001 Nope. SD is a registered trademark.
@@JRock424 And you cannot use "SNES" in the title, either.
Nice. But I'd wish they ditched the mini-USB port for an USB-C one or even an micro-USB port. That's really outdated.
Yeah, its really only used for developer support and a couple odd features.most will never use it anyway, as firmware updates are all done via the SD card.
Hi, sd2snes/fxpak creator here :) The Pro actually does have a micro-USB.
@@MaximilianRehkopf I must of misunderstood the comment. Yes it does use micro usb
I hope the ST018 chip will be emulated on the pro version, because it’s used by 1 japanese snes game for AI, the ST018 chip is 32bits at 21mhz in wich a see alot of potential in it such as an improved version of doom on snes.
So as it turns out, the superfx2 chip is not the most powerful enhancement chip no,that goes to the ST018 chip.
Does it work with a retron, retro trio, or any clone consoles
IDK
I got my FXpak pro last week, and i just opened it and i can confirm we have the exact same cart, all my games works great, but can you try out Starwing ? When i run Starwing i have a vertical glitch graphic strip from top to bottom, i tried Starwing europe and Starwing germany and both have the same issue. Is it related to the pal version ? Do i need to activate a feature in the menu, let me know i'm very curious, thanks great vid !
Probably it's console related? www.retrorgb.com/snesverticalline.html#:~:text=Problem%3A,Esentially%2C%20an%20inefficient%20power%20filter.
@@FR0MMEL Well its not, its simply because i was trying to run a PAL version of Starfox (called Starwing) and this one is not compatible with our north american SNES console, i found that later after i posted this. And the problem shown in your link is not similar to the issue i had at all. It s a complete other issue but its a closed case for me now, thanks for helping out.
is there a way to use cheat codes on this?
