A part of me thought I'd change my pick over time, but here I am still convinced this is anime of the year! Who else is feeling this way?? See my full uncut live reactions to the episodes over on Patreon www.patreon.com/BrandonReviews
The story is just going to get better and better. Orb is like a slow burn, slowly but surely it gets to your heart. I like that you pointed out that Badeni is like partly having institutional values of the church and partly revolting against the church. This tension between tradition and progress is really relatable. It shows that characters or we as humans are imperfect and that change is the only thing that is permanent. We constantly interact with others and change, whether its for the bad or for the good. And yes the manga/anime really highlights the thinking process of the characters so realistically. It is like an immersive experience and we can actually relate to that when characters get stuck and suddenly understand how something works
I love those simple moments of discovery like Rafal slipping and falling or Badeni looking at the necklace pinned on the wall. This anime actually taught me what retrograde motion is. At first I thought it would be some super complicated concept that would go right over my head when they explain it, but then they showed the scene of Badeni walking around a stick and Oczy running past him, and it clicked in my head and I thought, “oh! That’s what that is!” It’s something you see everyday like driving down the highway and passing all those cars at different speeds, but you never really think about it. Educational historical anime are always GOATED. They never miss.
I was waiting for him to notice that the orbits are not perfect circle but ellipse he found out that rather quickly now I think the main problem is to make the theory public without getting executed
Orb is such a bittersweet anime, I mean, it is supposed to be a drama, yes, but it is so beautiful, it is about hope, how small and yet so brave to peer into a universe that is bigger than us. You may be a noble and highly educated person, or an underprivileged one and still be inspired by the universe to ask questions about yourself, your reality and make changes. It is a manga series that so deserved animation, and I love that it got animated to well.
I absolutely loved badeni’s point of view about learning People these days just surface over the internet about certain topics and think that they are ready to give speeches on those topics Prime example : Twitter or x
Badeni's ideas on literacy are something we can all relate to today, thinking of Twitter. But we cannot admit that. It will be interesting to see how this anime overcome his argument
I may be wrong but I can't help to think Badeni's view on the common mass that should not learn how to read and write, is jab by the autor at our modern day society. Overall everyone learning how to read is a net gain for society. But from time to time after browsing through the internet, you may get Badeni's POV. Else it was really interesting to see the POV of the head of the inquisition. They may F you up. But hey it's for "your own good".
I'm so surprised that the producers skip the title card "Several Months Later". Without this title card, it seems like Heliocentrism is completed in few weeks. Time passing is very crucial here, considering some future plots.
definitely anime of the year. it may not have the best animation, but the plot feels so smart. badeni needs to be proven wrong. 😑.. but with the appearance of the inquisitors, maybe badeni's time is up..?
Badeni seems like more of an a-hole after this episode, but when he said that only select few people should be able to read/write otherwise misinformation will be spread by dumb people, I was like the man may be an ass but he has a point. (Glare intently at a lot of twitter users)
we should never promote a lack of education as a society. everyone needs to learn as much as possible else you end up in a dictatorship with truth considered false. you end up in a society where a church claims science as false because no one knowns any better which is what would happen if we limited education.
I understand Badeni's pov completely because of social media as well, but I also believe that our education didn't catch up to our technology is the reason behind all the unreliable information. Technology gave us unlimited information, but our education system didn't teach us how to spot misinformation and search for the correct one.

Yeah, I remembered the quote "Genius is one percent inspiration, ninety-nine percent perspiration"

"Orb isn't the best anime this year"
A wrong answer is not a meaningless one

This show is unbelievably good. One of the most sophisticated stories ever told in anime format.

Hoping for more unmatched storytelling from this season

This show has been a pretty good sleeper so far.
All bro had to say was "light refracts off water droplets" didn't have to recite a 1,000 word science essay. Lol

I agree with you. I was just saying it as a jab to a lot of the dumb things people say on social media nowadays

my thought exactly
I wonder what book that priest found on the ground was. I hope he doesn't end up fucking Badeni over though.
2nd mc is clearly a murderer but it is what it is
Guys. I don't like Badeni anymore.
xD
Badeni's complicated and that makes him interesting.
