Badeni and oczy death scene is one of the most beautifully tragic death scenes in anime history... I still am getting goosebumps from the line oczy says to badeni ;" look at the sky; we aren't going to hell"
I think the reason why Badeni surrendered was not because he didn't want Oczy to feel the pain of losing an eye, I think it was because he probably didn't want him to lose his one thing, his observation. Remeber, the name Oczy literally means eyes in Polish.
@@apollodavis4090 And Okzi inspired hope in Badeni during their last moments. (a revearsal of their roles in the previous episodes, when Badeni gave Okzi the last rites)
I am very moved by what Oczy said when he was on the hanging platform. He said there is still something to hope for at the end. And this hope is given by Badeni as Badeni abandoned his research and Rafael's box of research but tried his best to preserve Oczy's book. And when Badeni got grim and said they are standing in front of hell, Oczy reminded him what he once said, that they were standing in front of heaven, just because he felt he had no regrets for the freedom and belief that he is willing to die for. The night sky and the hope of being able to pass on history is worth every single bit of torture and death. Badeni and Oczy always remind me to believe without fear, and to live without regrets.
Orb and Frieren have been fighting over my AOTY for a while and after this episode I have to give it to Orb. Frieren is spectacular, no denying that, but as someone who loves history, Orb is grounded in such historical realism that leaves me on the edge at the end of each episode.
@@dandansfuFrieren carried over from Fall of last year and I understand people not wanting to include carry overs from the previous year, but there wasn’t any anime that hit me as much until Orb came out. That’s why Frieren 2nd cour and Orb 1st cour have been fighting over my AOTY
What touching for me was I think Badeni was talking about pain to lose his eyes wasn't even physical pain.He is very strong against physical pain but his eyes..losing his eye sight to see that beautiful stars and sky was tougher than he thought I think...off course it's important to do his research but more than that. That's why he admire Oczy's ability to see stars, and his beautiful sight to see this world.Badeni didn't want him to lose that and didn't want him to go through that pain, for that sake he even gave away the history he kept in the end.And that paid off after all I believe.Because of Oczy kept his eyes,he could believe heaven in the very last moment since the sky was beautiful as ever. And Badeni had no way to know if that's true bcs of his eyes can't see the sky like Oczy anymore. But he believed in Oczy.Badeni admire the way Oczy see the world and believed that Oczy's words and inspiration would reach more people than his research.Off course he believed what Oczy sees in that very last moment and what he tells. His great eye sight which Badeni wanted to protect, the way he sees this world. The most beautiful sky and yes, they go to heaven.I believe we call that's faith. What a beautiful episode.
What you typed is so true, that's why Badeni and Oczy's death is so bittersweet and tragically inspirational to me. Badeni rather has his research and Rafael's research burned than having Oczy lose the ability to see and hope.
Absolutely loved the manga and this adaptation does full justice to the source material. No one is the true MC and yet everyone is, everyone played their parts in getting closer to the 'truth'. This anime masterfully instilled something even in the death of beloved characters and that is 'hope' and 'inspiration'.
I think it's fair to say that collective inspiration is the protoganist with the antagonist being the church and this episode really highlights that I feel. It takes some real story writing skill to characterise an idea this well.
Oh my gawddd. What have I been doing in these past 13 eps? Every time I finish an episode, I feel some void in my heart for thinking that there aren't a lot of people who follow the anime. But, these comments are giving me hope that "Orb" has a solid fandom💗. So excited on how everything will unfold. Thank you so much for your episode review!!!
And a growing fandom :) Some shows are famous during one season and easily forgotten, this one will stay as a classic masterpiece. I'm obssessed by Orb and I see many japanese comments on reactions that indicates that in Japan Orb's fandom is strong and lasts (the manga was a library success and award-winner 2 years ago)
Orb is a show and manga teachers should use at School to introduce discussions about science, scientific method, prejudice, elitism, classism, sex discrimination against women, and so many other themes!
RIP Oczy and Badeni, they died at ease with no regrets. I want to say F the inquisition as a whole but we can see how complexe the situation is. The 2 newbies clearly doubting about what they are doing. Or even Nowak really believing he is doing his job for the greater good. The only person I can clearly tell F you, is Antony. The dude doesn't care about faith, all he wants is power it seems.
Man, when they brought Jolenta in the torture room……I just wasn’t ready to deal with that too after we just saw our two boys get hanged. Was like “please give us some time to mourn those two before killing another”
this gave me to your eternity PTSD and i applaud the production team for it. i'm hesitant to put this in my top 10 all time favorites since its not resolved yet.
@@macmac6064 He has political ties with the Bishop and possibly others within the church. So while he may be fired or killed, he at least has some leverage to work with.
Im glad they reduced the censorship this episode, ALSO RIP BALDENI AND OCZY. There are so many people missing out on this peak they don't even know this anime existed.
My personal theory is that Badeni has given some hints to restore the documents to that beggar who we saw earlier (whom oczy was giving his food to), we see them talking about something but it hasn't been revealed yet. I feel like that beggar would play an important role in the future as he is also featured in opening as some serious dude. He might be the next main character along with Jolenta.
People, Novak is not evil, he is also in the gray area. He is just doing what he thought is best for his daughter or family and a little bit in society.
"I think faith is a way of life." Random monk to Jolenta when asking her what she thought faith meant to her Great answer. The only thing that I would add is that it's also a subjective way of life based on objectivity/religion. Makes sense of everything else here too in the sense that it really can't be explained. Also, in addition to the series Link Click starting a new season yesterday, there's also the anime movie The War of the Rohirrim out in theaters now. The War of the Rohirrim is essentially a prequel to the Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogies.
All my homies hate Antoni. As always for many humans jealousy, power and selfish gains are always stronger than faith which is just an excuse... Or to be more accurate that's how 99% of the politicians are...
Fighting back tears seeing Badeni go out. I dont know why i get attached to characters like Badeni but he was my favorite character so far. Oczy was a G going toe to toe with Nowak and i liked to see him overcome his fear. But loved the episode and i have a lingering feeling we will see Nowak change to maybe fight Antoni?
I loved Okzi, such a pure hearted (and tormented) character. Badeni's growth was wild but Okzi was like a spiritual guide. Our ancestors in this century (mine in Catholic France but any medieval feodality would be the same) could not read and were easy to control and manipulate into submission.
