Thank you so much for this video!!!! I’ve had this subject stuck In my head ALL DAY. I went to the Honda dealership that I got the car at with my dad and asked about the remote start (wether they had a spare key or if they had to install the remote start feature) and the guy told me our car didn’t have it. Then afterwards I was searching up if this car has remote start (the 2018-2020 [10th gen Accord] sport 1.5T) and it said the Touring and EX models had it. Which isn’t wrong, BUT SO DOES THE SPORT 1.5T, it’s just that you don’t get the key if you buy that model!!!! So for those who are confused don’t worry, this video explains it perfectly! Also at 11:38 when Brian goes over problems or negatives to the remote start, it’s nothing to do with the “hack”. It’s just drawbacks to Hondas remote start like the car not having a great way to tell whether it turned on or the car reaching for a temperature of 72 degrees. BUT NO PROBLEMS WITH THE “HACK”, remote start works like it should! :D 👍
I just did it a hour ago on my 2018 sport with a cheap amazon fob and can confirm this Hack still works! Its awsome! The mobile lock smith was skeptical and very suprised it worked. And both of my stock remotes still work as well. Thanks for the awsome video.
For the 10 min limit shit, all you have to do is remote start the car, then repeat the exact same steps again to achieve 20 minutes after the car is already on. It works
THANKS for this one. worked great for me and my 2020 accord LX. I had read a bunch of stuff on it, but actually seeing someone go through the process was great. well done, sir.

You have answered more questions and have simplified the process more than any other video. However I do have a couple of questions relating to the changes to the car. Now that you have remote start have the following options appeared in your car's software: Walkaway Auto Lock (where your car locks when the key gets 10 feet away from it)? and can you now lock your car while it's running (say you pull up at home to run in and grab something, can you leave the car on, take the key and lock it while it's still running?) and lastly, if the new remote start fob is outside of the vehicle while it's running, can the car still be driven? I have a 2020 Sport 1.5 and all of the options I asked about above are not inside the software. There's no reason it shouldn't be because it all seems to be software based. I hope you would be kind enough to shed some light on this too! Because of this video I went ahead and ordered a remote fob and hope to have it programmed next week. Thank you, Tom
No. The remote only adds remote start. All the other features you mentioned require the sensors that the 1.5 doesn't have, they are not software add ons. The car will remain on when the fob exists the vehicle but you cannot lock the doors. Lastly if the fob is not present the vehicle will shut down once the accelerator is pressed.
@@edwinzamudio5055 okay well that’s bad and good to hear. Right now if I get out of my car with the fob while it’s running, you can still drive it. I wish we could lock the door if the fob is outside the car. I know you can lock it with the physical key, but that defies the point of needed to do that. Thank you so much!
What i do is i put down the window manually lock the car with the buttons on the door and close the windows… cons it wont unlock with the remote you need the physical key fob inserted in the door.. i only do this to warm up the car cuz i haven’t done the remote start hack… would recommend to turn it off if going inside a store
This is the best video I watched. Thanks for your honesty man. I have the same car but in silver. Btw I heard that a remote start can damage your engine ? is this true or a myth?
Thank you! I watched a ton before getting it done and none of them really showed or said anything other than "buy this remote, have it programmed you have remote start!" lol. And no, I haven't known of anyone having engine issues from remote starting. I mean your engine is running longer, so theres that, but I've had remote start on brand new vehicles, and remote start on 25 year old cars with 200,000 miles and never had an issue caused by it.
Same process mechanically as you starting the vehicle yourself. No extra wear and tear on top of what you would normally go through starting the engine.
