I'm 64 years old. My parents played this song on their hi fi console record stereo. My mom played the hell out of that record! Hearing this brought back great memories of mom and dad. This is when singers were singers! No voice has been able match this quality in decades. We'll done Jackie. Was terrible on how he passed though.
This song over 100 yrs old Irish ☘️ or Scotch, think 🤔 it’s referencing a mother to her son, to find her grave when he returns home. Say a prayer 🙏 & tell her he loves her. I could certainly understand why Elvis would love it.
Danny Boy is a traditional Irish song. It's one of the most common songs in Ireland... they sing it at wakes, weddings, and funerals. This Doo-wop Rock-n-Roll version is new to me.
Mr. Jackie Wilson was not just a family friend, but he was one of if not the GREATEST singer ever. I remember seeing him at the Apollo Theater as a child and he would sing Danny Boy and the people would lose it, women would faint also there wasn’t a dry eye in the audience. Mr. Jackie Wilson was and still is the GREATEST OF ALL TIME PERIOD. My Uncle Mr.Ronnie Bright aka “Mr. Bass Man” sang on Baby Work Out by Jackie Wilson.
Jackie Wilson was a Golden Gloves Boxing champion and reportedly had the greatest stage routine in show business! Elvis Presley and Jackie were great friends and legend has it that while Elvis was performing "Return to Sender" for his 1962 movie "Girls Girls Girls" he did a parody of Wilson as he looked on.
This is as mentioned an old Irish song. It's from a father to his son who's going off to fight in the war. Jackie Wilson's version of "Danny Boy" is hands down the finest version out there, IMO of course. Fun Fact: You've heard Michael Jackson say his famous "Jammon, Jammon!" Well, he got that from Mr. Excitement himself Jackie Wilson!! Another great song of his, you should check out is "You got me Walking" Between him & Sam Cooke, the world will never see 2 better male vocalists again!
This is one of those songs that should ONLY be sung as it was written. A NATIONAL, classic, Irish tune that can EASILY cause tears to flood your eyes. But not like THIS.

Smooth - yes. For the ultimate smooth - Johnny Mathis! Misty, Chances Are, and It's Not For Me to Say, to start.
I read that Jackie did not want to sing this song but was forced to by his label, so he said I’m a make sure no one ever sings this song better than me. Ever. Mission completed ✅
One of the best singers/performers of all time. One of Elvis Presleys favorite singers too.
If you knew the song you would really appreciate how great Jackie sang it..plus you should Google his great career and sad ending of Jackie Wilson...RIP Jackie.
The way Jackie Wilson sung a ballad is mind blowing and mesmerizing, he's just awesome
That is serious talent. I need to listen to more of this.
I actually skipped your reaction to slipknot, Jamel
I've never been able to get into Slipknot
This song over 100 yrs old Irish ☘️ or Scotch, think 🤔 it’s referencing a mother to her son, to find her grave when
he returns home. Say a prayer 🙏 & tell
her he loves her. I could certainly understand why Elvis would love it.
Danny Boy is a traditional Irish song.
It's one of the most common songs in Ireland... they sing it at wakes, weddings, and funerals.
This Doo-wop Rock-n-Roll version is new to me.
Not Irish but an English folk song.
I've never heard his version of this before ... just stunning!
I wouldn't be able to hit the pitches hat Jackie did, even if you put my "wedding tackle": in a bear trap. 😳
🤣
This is as mentioned an old Irish song. It's from a father to his son who's going off to fight in the war.
Jackie Wilson's version of "Danny Boy" is hands down the finest version out there, IMO of course.
Fun Fact: You've heard Michael Jackson say his famous "Jammon, Jammon!"
Well, he got that from Mr. Excitement himself Jackie Wilson!!
Another great song of his, you should check out is "You got me Walking"
Between him & Sam Cooke, the world will never see 2 better male vocalists again!
Outstanding! I'm playing this every St. Patrick's Day from now until I die. Incredible.
❤️
I like your passion! 😉👍
This is one of those songs that should ONLY be sung as it was written. A NATIONAL, classic, Irish tune that can EASILY cause tears to flood your eyes. But not like THIS.
