  • This is my video from the SkyBet championship fixture between ‪@MiddlesbroughFC‬ and top of the table ‪@LCFC‬
Ahead of kick-off, the Riverside paid its respects to all servicemen and women who have paid the ultimate sacrifice protecting these shores and a period of reflection was followed by the sounding of The Last Post.
Despite boasting a perfect league record on the road this campaign, the Foxes looked unsettled by Boro’s persistent pressing with even goalkeeper Mads Hermansen under pressure in the early knockings.
Keen to keep a hold of the ball, Leicester fashioned the first opening, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall testing the palms of Seny Dieng from outside the area.
Boro, though, looked dangerous and Josh Coburn was inches away from applying the finishing touch to a Sam Greenwood cross.
It was a fractious, non-stop encounter and with Coburn baring down on goal, Jannik Vestergaard became the first man to pick up a booking after sending the Boro man to the floor.
Coburn almost capitalised from the resulting free-kick via a deft header, which fell agonisingly the wrong side of the post.
The game continued to ebb and flow. A mis-cued back pass required strong goalkeeping from Dieng and a Dael Fry block denied Dewsbury-Hall.
The visitors were growing into it and Dieng had to be at full stretch to claw away Vestergaard’s header.
The Foxes were willing to take a risk or two when playing out from the back and Isaiah Jones looked to capitalise on some hesitant defending with a curling shot into the arms of Hermansen.
A clever dummy saw Coburn shimmy away from his marker, the striker then laying off for the arriving Greenwood, who again forced Hermansen into action.
Boro were barging down the door in the latter stages of the first-half and the Leicester ‘keeper twice did well to keep out Matt Crooks.
Having saved on the goal-line to maintain his clean sheet, Hermansen threw himself left to palm away Fry’s header.
The second-half had a more robust feel than the end-to-end opening period and it was the Foxes who fashioned the first chance, Dewsbury-Hall slicing wide from the edge of the area.
With Leicester again eager to retain the ball, Boro looked to force moments on the counter and Isaiah Jones’ trickery earned a free-kick 20 yards out from goal.
Greenwood took responsibility for the set-piece, drilling into the wall and when Rav van den Berg looked to pick up the pieces, he flashed a venomous ball that evaded everyone in the centre.
In a personal battle up against Wout Faes, Coburn was looking to referee Oliver Langford as the Foxes sprung forward, Abdul Fatawu bouncing one over the bar while Boro appealed for a foul.
Enzo Maresca’s men were forcing the agenda, Stephy Mavididi and Dewsbury-Hall both fired wide before Kelechi Iheanacho hit the post with a chipped attempt.
At the other end, a neat Boro move saw Greenwood wiped out by Hamza Choudhury and though it seemed referee Langford had originally played advantage, a late call saw play brought back for a free-kick.
With Lukas Engel ready to deliver, the decision had incensed the Riverside crowd at first but, 25 yards from goal, Greenwood stepped up to power the ball into the top corner and certainly made amends between the Boro faithful and Oliver Langford.
A stunning Sam Greenwood free-kick ended Leicester’s perfect Championship away record as Boro claimed three points against the league leaders.
Also watch out for Sam Greenwood’s postage-stamp set piece, seven minutes from time, this was just reward for a battling performance from Michael Carrick’s side, who went toe-to-toe with the Foxes.
