    One thing I’ll always respect about soccer in the UK is how many levels there are. And I love how it’s taken serious. It’s awesome to see a sport that you love have so many opportunities for people to play it.
    In the United States, most peoples athletic careers end when graduating high school and the lucky ones when they graduate college. so many kids stop playing competitive sports at the age of 18 because they have no other choice. It’s so nice to see a sport and leagues give young men opportunity to play competitively, ,even if it’s not at a pro level, through their prime years.

      As far as I am aware the very first rounds are even played in the end of the season before it gets really serious, so to speak.
      Although I hate the fact that the Danish Cup already from the quarter finals are decided by 2 games.
      But the thing countries like Denmark can learn from England etc. is to have proper local cups also.

    I played for a few teams at this level. My experience was the managers always rewarded ability over effort. Talented players could show up late, start fights, blame others for bad results and always expect to play the whole match. Untalented players were given the linesman's flag and hope for five minutes at the end when the result is already settled. Every decision they make (offside or not offside) was sure to anger one of the teams, so we always caught abuse. Not only do we give up our Saturday afternoons so they could play, we would also get abused for making offside decisions they didn't like. You might say that is fair enough because it's on us to improve our talent so that we play more, but if we never play how are we meant to improve? I'm glad I gave it up. There is a good reason teams like mine are at the bottom of the pyramid. They don't know what they're doing. They don't reward or incentivize effort and good attitudes.

You basically have sunday league randos in and anything could send them off. No pay at all and everyone's got a job, you train once a week, you lose your players instantly. I am still glad people are so passionate and keep the pyramid going.

    Interesting that the chairman begrudges paying £45 for the referee but the manager shows him genuine respect.
    The referee could be watching a good match with his mates or maybe playing at a higher level but he has to start somewhere.
    The team will be doing well if they can follow a young referees progress up the leagues.

    • @LocationFootball
      @LocationFootball  10 месяцев назад +7

      I think it's more generating the funds to be able to afford refs and pitch hire. The ref did a fantastic job, without the refs there is no match. 👍

    • @VengerVideoGamer
      @VengerVideoGamer 10 месяцев назад

      @@LocationFootball I was surprised how much the pitch hire and referee's costs were at that level. In the lower echelons of Welsh grass roots football (Neath League) I think the pitch hire is about £55 - £60 for council pitches, and the referee usually charges between £25 to £30 depending on travel expenses. What most people don't realise is that there are "hidden" costs for training (usually hiring 3G/4G pitches in mid-week), medical equipment, buying kits/footballs/nets if there are no sponsors, etc.
