I don't understand why they gave base game the bills update if they didn't also give base game a way to generate power or collect water. That part of the update should have just been in Eco.
i think this is the most exciting thing i've seen all week edit: maybe the reason the bar wouldn't go green is because of the lot traits? i noticed you didn't check those.
James in his Rags to Riches Let’s Play: How does power production off grid work? I don’t understand why none of the electrical appliances are working! James here: *Explains it perfectly* 🤔
I got so confused I thought this was a rags to redevelopment episode and suddenly you wanted to turn the neighborhood green and my brain kinda crashed lol
"This looks like something out of an apocalypse movie, where, like, it's been overgrown, nature's taking back..." It looked ridiculous at first when you planted the trees from above, but I actually enjoy that view from the side and how it looks on the map.
You can upgrade your sim’s appliances and bathroom stuff, just click upgrade and add a water recycler or make your appliances use less power, it helps with the eco footprint and lowers the bills !!
I live in a pretty green country - Scotland. We do have our industrial spots though 😬😬 But we are getting better. We have wind farms and hydro farms now :) Lots of people have started putting solar panels on their roofs (although I don't know why) - It's Scotland!! When we see that big shiny ball in the sky we think we are being invaded by aliens or something. We have managed to reduced our carbon emissions. I think the whole point EA has made here is that to clean up our act requires a lot of work and time. I wish we could just shove a bunch of trees into the real world already grown LOL. 🌲 🌳🌲 🌳
Same in Wales. Lots of turbines on the North coast, we do a lot of hydro which powers England mostly. Our issue is landfills, councils keep building more of them. So many goddam landfills all along the North coast
@@Stettafire That is such a shame. Wales is such a beautiful country, much like Scotland. Do you not have any recycling programs going on there? Our government in Holyrood has all the councils making sure we are recycling - plastics, tins, glass, paper, cardboard etc. What's the Senned doing? ( I hope I spelled that right 🙈🙈)
Solar panels are dope. My boyfriends parent's house has 8 solar panels on the roof of their 5-bedroom house and it generates so much power, they get a monthly stipend from the county. They even charge their electric car daily and still generate too much for just their house. Super cool!
Please make an actual forest/treehouse lot! Now that ladders are a thing, we need like a treetop tiny home community or something. That would be amazing. :) Loving all the content!
I feel like you’re not having fun with Rags to Redevelopment. Only on part 5 and that was posted 4 days ago. Usually when a expansion pack comes out, you’re on part 3 on day one and part 15 by a week😂
Hey James I'm been playing and I noticed that if you have a recycler on your lot, everytime that a NPC recycle something (and they do) you receive the stuff, so it's worth to plain your household with big trash bins and recyclers.
I tried changing the entire world to green. Most of the lots now have basements with a bunch of green junk inside to avoid the tree spamming. Too hard to keep the footprint green though, unless your Sim just stands recycling all day. All lots green and all eco-friendly initiatives running, still dips down to neutral within hours.
The first house he did there was no sink. Edit: I have never had this many likes before so thank you everyone that has liked my comment it means so much to me.
I literally never put sinks in my houses. Either the Sims will go halfway across the house to wash their dishes in the bathroom sink, or they’ll go halfway across the house to wash their hands in the kitchen sink (or a different bathroom sink). It drives me up the wall so I deliberately leave sinks out all the time now.
Are EA sponsoring this video because all the Game Changers are on a mission to make every neighbourhood industrial af & EA are like "Nooo! This is the OPPOSITE of what we wanted!"
This shows, more than anything else, how EA doesn't understand "eco friendly". "Hey, that brick isn't eco friendly! DEMOLISH IT AND REBUILD IN STONE YOU PLEBS!!!"
why do i feel like he is throwing shade throughout this whole video? LMAO just to get a green lot you pretty much have to make it look as undesirable as possible with just a bunch of solar panels and water collectors everywhere ahaha
i read the title by glance, then watch 3/4 of the video me : "it doesn't look like promising build" *read the title again* "Ah, its Port Promise." I thought this EA game changer changed every building more promising.
I'm using the same lot for my Eco Boy. I have 2 wind turbines on the roof, 3 in the yard, 2 solar panels in the yard and 4 of those water collectors. That's all and it works just fine.
It's like your CAS skills have spread to Build and Buy lol. I can't wait for the builds you'll do with this pack. I'd love to see you use it to go back and redo your oil rig from Island Living with some of these industrial items.
Is anyone else experiencing a ton of bugs recently? My sims won't listen to anything I say. I tell them to cook, then they abandon the task to go to push ups, despite not being energized or having an athletic related trait or aspiration. Or get out of the shower before being done and go practice programming. I have to give a command two or three times before they actually do it. And my current household has 5 sims so its a lot to deal with.
Chimneys on the roof of the bar must be removed to improve the ecological footprint because they are industrial ^^ the container door must also be removed because it's industrial footprint
I like how you have to actually play the game to make it green rather than just spamming objects - greenness half comes from upgrading appliances, voting in green NAPs, using your stuff efficiently. You can turn a neighbourhood green without very many panels/turbines at all if you spend time in each house interacting with the world.
I have an idea for a rags to riches let's play that you might like. You get to start off with a 10k budget that you have to use to build a functional off the grid home for your sim, because the only way you're allowed to make money is by selling leftover power and water generated on your lot. Somehow you have to create a power emporium exclusively from your leftover utilities.
hey james can you build a hosue that is eco friendly and its like a abandond building that is like overgroun and its poluted but its eco friendly (its in the poluted part of the map)
Other challenge ideas: Eco/off-the-grid restaurants. Spending one Sim-year outside, so all 4 seasons, (with no walls/ceilings/roofs, just buy-mode items) to see if your Sim survives. A riches to rags challenge, to see how quickly you can spend $1m without going into buy-mode, only in-game purchases. For longer Let's Plays, I'd like to see a new-and-improved Prison Challenge since so much has been added to the game since you did the last one.
Check the flooring on the veranda around the bar. It may be that it's not eco friendly. Also check the windows, doors, stairs, columns. Every little thing counts LOL It may be impossible to give the bar a green footprint, as I suspect there used to be a dump on that lot, with a lot of sludge and acid rain and that kind of crap. I couldn’t get that bar lot to be green either, even after I rebuilt it as a retail and only used green footprint stuff.
Look at the floor tiles, especially outside. That has gotten me several times. Most of the concrete ones have industrial footprint.
You need to make a forest and a lot of windturbine and a lot of water collector lol
Julia Johnston just spam solar panel all over the whole original roof. mine is green without other modifications
you could actually build a basement with a lot of green footprint stuff in it

You can collect water from fishing spots in the base game. It's fun if someone wants to play extreme rags to riches in the base game.
Melanek Hirano you can't make power though 😳
