I love it, nicely put. Of course James is gonna make Ambrose an obnoxious asshole like all of his others sims (lol), but still, really nice to pretend there is a rationality behind all the madness.

I built a dump on an empty lot and gave it the recycle lot trait along with the dump lot trait and cat hangout. I made it a generic type lot and I placed one of each color of the dumpsters, and made a mound in the middle to look like garbage piled up,. People started coming around to dump their showers, tubs, refrigerators, tvs, etc... its really cool with all the nasty cats hanging out there. Plus, there's endless dumpster finds.
Oh wow! People still remember my Trash and her child Treasure suggestion! I was hoping James would see it but I guess he never did even though it got over 1000 likes. Either that or he doesn't really want to do it, so I've accepted its not gonna happen. Since James actually wanted to make this neighborhood industrial at the beginning, I thought it would be fun to have Ambrose Bigwallet be representing big industries creating more pollution and then Trash's child Treasure is the opposite, trying to make the town more eco.

You should add a rule to this series that you can't buy stuff in buy mode, but need to find them from dumpster, produce them yourself or buy them in the shop. It could be quite interesting

I believe that if you brush your teeth, your hygiene will go up (a bit more than washing your hands) + you need to store your water, otherwise you lose it and you won’t have any left💋
@@Surdeigt If you go to show billing information using either your phone or your mailbox, you can see the amount of power or water you use. Positive means you have a surplus, negative means you're using more than your lot produces. There is a store option over each consumption bar. Hope that helps!

When that phone call comes wanting you to get married for an inheritance, click the “what conditions?” Option!! You get the money that way. You won’t get the money if you try and get married.
maybe it's just randomized? just like those choices that sometimes pop up while your sims are at work or in school, sometimes choice 1 is the good one and sometimes its choice 2...
I’ve gotten that call three times. My first sim I accepted, got married, and got 5k. The second time I got the call was with my sim’s spouse, so bc he was already married I said what conditions and got 2.5k. The third call also went to my sim’s spouse and again 2.5k for asking about the conditions. I think it might be a little bugged. Unless there are other things they have to do than get married to earn the inheritance.

I had a RtR save where my sim was fishing and she fished up a gold bar 😂😂 I had already gotten to a point where I had a selling table so I threw it on there in hopes it would sell that way and it did eventually. That 8K was enough to build my Sims tiny home 😂😂

same thing happened to me. went dumpster diving for the first time, first thing i get was the 14k$ fridge so now i just have a really nice fridge bc i don’t want the advantage of selling it

Don't know how much you know about the impact on the eco footprint and world changes but Carl's Sim Guide breaks in down in his video really well. To make it look more run down you may need to edit the other lots in the neighborhood/world to help bring the footprint down. (As in port promise the footprint goes up rather quickly when played in due to the other houses/lots) I hope that makes sense and may be helpful to you & others. 💚

Really stupid system. If people want to play in an industrial world then they should be able to without it automatically trending towards neutral after a few days. It should be based on gameplay, not build mode. EA being lazy, once again, by not checking whether their systems actually functioned as intended!
I'm slowly working my way backwards through your Let's Plays. I didn't start watching until Dream Home Decorator and watched everything forward, but now with the introduction to Reginald I'm working backwards. Super fun! Can't wait for this LP to unfold
Glad to see this series starting! A tip: If you just put the trash piles and empty plates in Ambrose's inventory, he can recycle them for the bits and parts. No need for a bin!
You should drag the trash piles and the glass into your inventory to recycle. Also, your Maker Community Space won, so you can go and use their stuff. And if you want to use your laptop you have a burnt table and burnt chair. For neighbourhood action plans you should go for self-sufficient and upcycling which give you influence points for handiness and fabrication. Tech support gives you a boost in your salary. Power and Water conservation are probably good since you are off the grid.

It would be nice if there was a setting to ban celebrities and known Sims from other worlds (kind of like "locking your door for everyone but household", unless invited). Currently, everybody goes everywhere...and they can look out of place.
Same with occult Sims! I don't mind them always, but in some stories I don't want dang vampires rolling up the block every six seconds, or every single 'place ad' roommate spawning as a spellcaster.

for ambrose’s alien appearance: it could be kind of fun to dress him up clothing that doesn’t really match with a big hat and glasses because he’s unsure how the people in this new town feel about aliens - so he found what he could from dumpster diving and is trying to look “convincing” to hide his alien-ness despite being... well, blue!
I found the easiest was to stop Port Promise from getting cleaner were just little edits to the bar. Changed the brick from something with industrial 1 to industrial 2 (was a really similar brick too), similar with the roof changing it from industrial 1 to 2, then added a second fireplace behind the bar, and a couple generators out back. My footprint then got more dirty by doing just that. Though it will change quickly when you do the community space voting.
The fact that 60% of this whole episode is James just yelling "GET AWAY FROM MY DUMPSTER!" and other dumpster related things is a hint this is gonna be an awesome Rags to Riches 😂😂😂
Green gardening is a fantastic NAP because you get influence points from gardening, so you don’t have to do constant Friendly Introductions for points. My sim always has around 100 influence points because she is a Gardener with this NAP
I love this. I am now fully caught up with every series, I know all the Bigwallet's history and it only took me 3 months in lockdown! Now, I can enjoy this new series with full knowledge!
You don't need a bin-put all your trash-in your inventory to be recycled. It will also get rid of the negative moodlet about the dirty surroundings so he will be less stressed 😀Great start, looking forward to seeing where this goes! If the NAP ends up Juiced plus Roughhousing it would be just like a family reunion-Good times
if you keep the community space as a blank slate sims will dump broken items that your sim can repair for free handiness skill, and if it is a small item you can take it, I got the basic stereo but wasn't able to pick up the broken cooker that was dumped. Also if you get the inheritance call, ask what the conditions are and you will get the money straight away, as there is a condition that if you ask what the conitions are there are no conditions...
There are a couple of dumpsters in the neighbourhood, one is at the end of the street where the big house was and the other is in the alley, I think. And a couple of advices, remember you can shower in the rain! You had it right there hehe. The second is, when you get to the last level of the aspiration you will be asked to make 20 candles which can take forever and you might have already done. My sim was eating when I asked to make a candle and then another but that second canceled the first, however, the aspiration did count the first candle as done ;). In the community space of the neighbourhood where you did the mini series there's a fridge that can be repaired and used, and a tv in the same conditions :) put the garbage piles in your inventory so you can recicle :D hope this helps in any way.

Collect water from collecting snow & Oasis Springs (desert style) frog traps & fishing spots. You can shower in the rain & nap on the beach towels. Turn off auto sell on bills & choose store.
Looks like it's going to be another Island Living situation where the world "automatically" becomes more Green even if you don't do anything to it, and it'd be damn difficult, if not impossible, to deliberately turn it Industrial (q.v. Plumbella's videos where she tried to turn Evergreen Harbor into Middlesborough). Anyway, happy belated birthday, James, and I'm looking forward to this new series! p.s. I didn't know there was an option to turn the world more Industrial, but that's because I haven't seen it

I know some other simmers have had trouble ruining the eco footprint in that neighborhood due to the eco friendly neighbors, you may have to adjust their lots too...
Something I found out today was when it's raining and you click on the pavement it gives you the option to shower in the rain and i thought that was pretty cool. Never seen it before
So I played off the grid too and the shower and toilet broke too whenever I had a water surplus and I had to deactivate water or smth (I can't remember the interaction on the shower and the toilet) because water kept flowing and I couldn't repair them either Anyway I highly recommend you getting the solar panels and water collectors asap hahaha I also played in a tiny living house for the skill and gardening perks
I did my "rags to riches" in the Quarry, too. There aren't many dumpsters, so I instantly regretted that decision. Your "wax to Riches" inspired me to do a "rags to fizzes" :)
So as a tip for the future! If you end up growing a bunch of plants to recycle the harvestables, I would suggest downloading 'OP Auto Clicker' and set the click interval to 010 milliseconds. I ended up having a few hundred apples and basil in my inventory because my sim was harvesting but not doing anything with them, and clicking 99 times on each item was taking too long. Now with this you press F6 then it zooms through them. I would avoid using the 001 millisecond interval as it moves too quick and it is hard to get the precise number you want, and 100 milliseconds is a lot slower.
1) you can also click on the mailbox to show bills info 2) if you HOVER OVER the bills, it will explain why you have certain tax breaks. in your case, it will tell you that it is because of your off-the-grid lot trait.
Can he have a steampunk outfit as an alien? Or something fun, that is also shows he has no money, but since he's an alien is something different than "old" clothes
I had the repair problem happen with two toilets I got from a dumpster. My sim tried repairing it for about 2 hours, and Tina TInker tried repairing it for close to 10 hours - nothing happened. I put it in my inventory, took it out, and tried repairing it again, and it worked. *shrug*
If you enthuse about something as an interaction it supposed to give you influence points as well. At least Lilsimsie said that in her early access game as far as I remember 🤗
Also as a bonus, enthusing about fabrication can give you some sweet blueprints for the fabricator. The master maker lady gave me the couch blueprint and some random sim the end table one.
A really good challenge for this pack would be to buy nothing except build items off the catalog! Get all your furniture from dumpster diving and fabrication!!

I did something similar! Except I made mine with a pit instead of a mound. Love all the stinky animals too.
Cats in the Sims4 can also be raccoons, so extra appropriate!

Glad to see this series starting! A tip: If you just put the trash piles and empty plates in Ambrose's inventory, he can recycle them for the bits and parts. No need for a bin!
You should drag the trash piles and the glass into your inventory to recycle. Also, your Maker Community Space won, so you can go and use their stuff. And if you want to use your laptop you have a burnt table and burnt chair.
For neighbourhood action plans you should go for self-sufficient and upcycling which give you influence points for handiness and fabrication. Tech support gives you a boost in your salary. Power and Water conservation are probably good since you are off the grid.
Later on Ambrose should get a raccoon for a pet

It would be nice if there was a setting to ban celebrities and known Sims from other worlds (kind of like "locking your door for everyone but household", unless invited). Currently, everybody goes everywhere...and they can look out of place.
Same with occult Sims! I don't mind them always, but in some stories I don't want dang vampires rolling up the block every six seconds, or every single 'place ad' roommate spawning as a spellcaster.

for ambrose’s alien appearance: it could be kind of fun to dress him up clothing that doesn’t really match with a big hat and glasses because he’s unsure how the people in this new town feel about aliens - so he found what he could from dumpster diving and is trying to look “convincing” to hide his alien-ness despite being... well, blue!

I found the easiest was to stop Port Promise from getting cleaner were just little edits to the bar. Changed the brick from something with industrial 1 to industrial 2 (was a really similar brick too), similar with the roof changing it from industrial 1 to 2, then added a second fireplace behind the bar, and a couple generators out back. My footprint then got more dirty by doing just that. Though it will change quickly when you do the community space voting.
The fact that 60% of this whole episode is James just yelling "GET AWAY FROM MY DUMPSTER!" and other dumpster related things is a hint this is gonna be an awesome Rags to Riches 😂😂😂
Green gardening is a fantastic NAP because you get influence points from gardening, so you don’t have to do constant Friendly Introductions for points. My sim always has around 100 influence points because she is a Gardener with this NAP
I love this. I am now fully caught up with every series, I know all the Bigwallet's history and it only took me 3 months in lockdown! Now, I can enjoy this new series with full knowledge!

You don't need a bin-put all your trash-in your inventory to be recycled. It will also get rid of the negative moodlet about the dirty surroundings so he will be less stressed 😀Great start, looking forward to seeing where this goes! Drag the garbage piles and dirty dishes into your inventory. You can take them to the recycler machine and get some bits and pieces
You should make Ambrose work from home so it still has the rags to riches vibe!
"Get out of my dumpster" has the same energy as "get out of my swamp", hahaha
if you keep the community space as a blank slate sims will dump broken items that your sim can repair for free handiness skill, and if it is a small item you can take it, I got the basic stereo but wasn't able to pick up the broken cooker that was dumped.
Also if you get the inheritance call, ask what the conditions are and you will get the money straight away, as there is a condition that if you ask what the conitions are there are no conditions...

There are a couple of dumpsters in the neighbourhood, one is at the end of the street where the big house was and the other is in the alley, I think. And a couple of advices, remember you can shower in the rain! You had it right there hehe. The second is, when you get to the last level of the aspiration you will be asked to make 20 candles which can take forever and you might have already done. My sim was eating when I asked to make a candle and then another but that second canceled the first, however, the aspiration did count the first candle as done ;). In the community space of the neighbourhood where you did the mini series there's a fridge that can be repaired and used, and a tv in the same conditions :) put the garbage piles in your inventory so you can recicle :D hope this helps in any way.
My sim found two snapple refrigerators in perfect condition at 14k each in dumpsters then married for money. Quickest rags to riches ever 😂

You can shower in the rain & nap on the beach towels.
Turn off auto sell on bills & choose store.

Looks like it's going to be another Island Living situation where the world "automatically" becomes more Green even if you don't do anything to it, and it'd be damn difficult, if not impossible, to deliberately turn it Industrial (q.v. Plumbella's videos where she tried to turn Evergreen Harbor into Middlesborough). Anyway, happy belated birthday, James, and I'm looking forward to this new series!
p.s. I didn't know there was an option to turn the world more Industrial, but that's because I haven't seen it
CARL'S SIM GUIDE SAID WE HAVE TO GO TO EACH INDIVIDUAL LOT AND REPLACE THE GREEN FOOTPRINT(OR INDUSTRIAL IF YOU WANT TO TURN IT GREEN) THINGS WITH INDUSTRIAL THINGS(OR INDUSTRIAL IF YOU WANT TO TURN IT GREEN) BECAUSE IT IS THE AVERAGE OF YOUR LOT AND ALL THE NEIGHBORS AND WHAT IS PLACED ON THEM THAT CREATE THE FOOTPRINT. 😊
I know some other simmers have had trouble ruining the eco footprint in that neighborhood due to the eco friendly neighbors, you may have to adjust their lots too...

You can shower in the rain and also in waterfalls, and also when you garden you gain influence points for maintaining the plants!
Something I found out today was when it's raining and you click on the pavement it gives you the option to shower in the rain and i thought that was pretty cool. Never seen it before

Someone steals your dumpster dive deals
No one ever: shouts "NOOO! DON'TTTT!" and proceeds to be mean, mock outfit and give mean gift
So I played off the grid too and the shower and toilet broke too whenever I had a water surplus and I had to deactivate water or smth (I can't remember the interaction on the shower and the toilet) because water kept flowing and I couldn't repair them either
Anyway I highly recommend you getting the solar panels and water collectors asap hahaha I also played in a tiny living house for the skill and gardening perks

I did my "rags to riches" in the Quarry, too. There aren't many dumpsters, so I instantly regretted that decision.
Your "wax to Riches" inspired me to do a "rags to fizzes" :)
So as a tip for the future! If you end up growing a bunch of plants to recycle the harvestables, I would suggest downloading 'OP Auto Clicker' and set the click interval to 010 milliseconds. I ended up having a few hundred apples and basil in my inventory because my sim was harvesting but not doing anything with them, and clicking 99 times on each item was taking too long. Now with this you press F6 then it zooms through them. I would avoid using the 001 millisecond interval as it moves too quick and it is hard to get the precise number you want, and 100 milliseconds is a lot slower.
Pro tip for opening any jar: gently tap the sides of the lid with a spoon. This releases the vacuum suction holding the lid.
1) you can also click on the mailbox to show bills info
2) if you HOVER OVER the bills, it will explain why you have certain tax breaks. in your case, it will tell you that it is because of your off-the-grid lot trait.

I had the repair problem happen with two toilets I got from a dumpster. My sim tried repairing it for about 2 hours, and Tina TInker tried repairing it for close to 10 hours - nothing happened. I put it in my inventory, took it out, and tried repairing it again, and it worked. *shrug*
I don’t know if anyone told you yet, but there is a dumpster in Grim’s Quarry in the alley. Not sure which though. Love you and your videos!!! 😄
If you enthuse about something as an interaction it supposed to give you influence points as well. At least Lilsimsie said that in her early access game as far as I remember 🤗
Also as a bonus, enthusing about fabrication can give you some sweet blueprints for the fabricator. The master maker lady gave me the couch blueprint and some random sim the end table one.
A really good challenge for this pack would be to buy nothing except build items off the catalog! Get all your furniture from dumpster diving and fabrication!!
