James I think I got an interesting challenge for you! Instead of building a single house that 8 Sims can live in, why not make 8 trailers on a single lot? A mini trailer park! I think it has some potential like maybe some fancy nice upkept trailers and a few run down trailers, I think it would be fun to watch for sure.
i have one i’ll upload it if y’all want. i have one trailer my sim lives in and she’s like the land lord and just a bunch of roommates living in the others
Me too, i live away from hom every weekend cause i prefer living with my aunt. Two adults 5 kids(inl. Me) and a baby. Its hard going out for dinner or lunch cause if yoh stuff yourself you wont make jt to the bathroom XD
When I was a kid, my childhood home had one and a half bathrooms, and four bedrooms- and there were seven of us living there. I remember it being a bit tough sometimes - but we managed just fine😂
Idk if I'm the only one, but whenever I hear the energetic "Hey guys, James here today!" I feel the urge to reply with "Hey James, guys here today!"... it doesn't make any sense but somehow my brain always wants me to say that...
You should do a post-apocalypse build, with Eco Lifestyle and the hated Star wars. Like an underground, off the grid, beat down, self-sufficient with steampunk/industrial inspi' build. Make it an appartement complex, or a build for a big family. Unrelated but I would also love it if you did a Medieval Dynasty Gameplay !!!!!
I know there is such a thing as a trash can built into the counter, but I assumed what he meant was that real kitchen counters have space under them and people often put a trash can inside of them?
Hey, James, with all the new packs that have come out, maybe it's time to do a ranking video again, maybe? I do value your opinion A LOT... No? Just me then...?
Me too. 2x3 is a perfectly reasonable size for a small single bedroom. Sometimes I'll even cut out one corner if it'll allow for a bit of extra space elsewhere... the sim gets a single bed + one activity (stuffed toy / easel / etc) in the 5 tiles, that's plenty! 😄 (I even tried out a 4 tile bedroom once - in the impossible challenge - but ended up deciding that nothing but the bed was just too cruel. So I upgrade it to 5 tiles... 😂)
I think it would be fair to use trees, bushes, and flowers from debug, but any potted plants, planter boxes, or indoor plants would be paid for. That seems to be how it usually is in real life.
I like that it's big enough for player to fill in with stuff as they progress. However, the wasted $$ from the extra shower & random corner table in the bedroom bothers me. Those could be removed & instead get a toddler potty, a toy, and at least decor item. Then it's a more complete house.
@@mandowarrior123 well yeah, but your comment seemed to be about how tough it would be to have 8 sims and only 1 shower. I was pointing out that it's actually 1 shower and 1 tub for 8 sims - as far as hygiene goes, that probably wouldn't be too difficult to manage. I agree this place doesn't really resemble a functional house all that well though.
Ok when you put a toddler bed I feel like you need to put down a bathtub *and* a toddler potty. One thing I've been wondering for a while now, especially watching lilsimsie's builds and now this, is it normal to put carpets underneath dining tables? I never would do that, imagine all the food stuck there. I get this makes Sims houses more structured, but I find it totally odd and unnatural.
To prevent scraping on floors from chairs and stuff yes it’s normal to have an area rug with a tight flat pile under a dining room table. The type of rug I describe is pretty easy to clean w/ a good vacuum and carpet cleaner and you should replace it more frequently then an area rug elsewhere because it will wear.
@@skyechimes658 but that's what those little felt stickers are for, you just stick them to the chairs and job done, there's absolutely no need for a rug. Maybe that's just a cultural difference thing, I'm in Europe and we usually have wooden or tile flooring especially in living areas, thinking about it, I'm only used to rugs in front of sofas and maybe a bed.
Carina S yep now that felt tips are a thing you don’t see this as much anymore, but it’s super common in certain design aesthetics from before those were a common thing so people keep doing it. Also some people worry about foot traffic wear on their floor (this is why hallway and stair runner carpets are a thing too even though they are basically a tripping hazard imo). I personally am not a huge fan of area rugs in places I might trip on them but you asked why some people do it.
We have kitchen table that doesn’t have a rug under it, tile floors. But there is a formal dining room that has a rug, wood floors. Heavy duty chairs and table in formal so it just makes more sense and looks nicer to have the rug. Only used for special occasions of course lol
when i was younger, my family had to fit 8 people into a 3bed 2bath house and somehow your builds recreate that feeling of spaciousness but also tight space to me, and it fills me with nostalgia a lot
Is it weird that viewed from the back, reminds me of pre-fab churches I used to see in the USA south when I was a child in the 80s? I know super specific, but the colors, the columns, the stick out porch... it's spot on.
I like it! With toddlers having everything on one floor is ideal, and I like the layout. It was a great call not to make it super small. Tiny homes are cute, but big family's need more space.
I have a suggestion for your website! I would love a random household generator! Is it a single sim or friends or relatives? Is it a single parent or two? How many kids do they have? How many pets? What age are they all? What gender are they all? I always want to build households but I’m never sure how.
Every time I see anyone put a bathroom and kitchen side by side I get so stressed imagine cooking and someone poops like… imagine the kitchen smelling like that 😭😭
Hear me out. The secondary bathroom door should've gone in the living room, and then you could extend the island to be attached to the wall, and take one away and put a bin on the end.

James you should do a challenge like this but cheating! Like use debug for cheap or free items, or use the tiny home cheats to place walls so it doesn’t count as a room/tiles
I LOVE your real time build videos. One of the very first things I watched from you that really got me hooked on your videos. I would love to see more of them. For 8 sims you do get more funds. James doesn't really play with families at the start so probably didn't know.
