Sometimes xotic sp could be misunderstood !
Despite It have just 3 buttons, inside there are 4 switches and it could be a little dificult to arrange all controls !!
I had the same problem ! Last year i had a SP but sold it because i did not like it ! After i start to understand compressors and how to use it i bought a Mad Professor Forest Green ( fantastic compressor ) and i decide to give another chance to SP !
So, i tried so emulate Forest Green sound ( sustain and comp kind of sound ) , and after working with all these buttons i found that it could have the same great sound of Mad Professor !! So, the tip is : insise, leave all the 3 first switches down and the last up !! On the outside controls , forget the mid sustain option ! Use only the lo and hi options , and leave the blend knob at 11 o' clock . Using the low option you will have a beautiful clean enhance kind of sound to leave always on !! And when you need to have a more compressed soun for funk/ boost , use hi option!

This is the only video that gives this pedal any justice, from the ones I’ve seen

I'm watching this video because i'm buying the pedal two days from now, but the way you're explaining while listening how that strat and pedal sound through an AC-30 made me realize again how I just love playing the guitar.👍

imagine FX It's a great pedal, and almost always on for both my single coil and humbucker guitars. Only downside is is that the mid and high compression settings are quite noisy, although the manual mentions this. I mostly use the low setting so that passes me by. I'm not planning on selling this pedal soon. I love it, to be honest.

nice review! would you recommend this pedal as an always on pedal after my ODs to equate the volume levels if I engage them?

I don’t understand the need for a compressor. I sort of understand what hey do but not why they are used.

Nice video. Would like to know how you had the internal dip switches set. According to xotic I believe for single coil guitars switch 1 and 2 are recommended to be on while 3 and 4 should be off. Was that the setup you used for your demo? Just curious it would certainly help us amateur pedalboard geeks.

I like to use my compressor after all my drives. That way I can control the overall volume without killing the overdrive dynamics and nuances. Kind of like a tube comp used for recordings. Does this pedal have enough input headroom for that kind of use? Or is it a pedal best used directly from the guitar? Thanks!

Could you review the carl martin compressor? i am currently a boss CS-3 user (taiwan) and it's above average, but planning to get the Japan, and the Carl martin reviews on other channels stand out, i also like the SP, but i need your input on the carl martin to make a comfortable decision

Far and away the best reviews on the tube. Thats the best sound least offensive compressor Ive ever heard. Gotta have one.
So... the video intro...do you have a link to "your" music/band?

shnobel so, thats you on guitar? Hard to tell because the video cuts so often. If so, why the Marshalls? Seems like your an AC player in these demos and your tone in the reviews is so good.

Sounds clean and punchy - but compressors are more about 'feel' for me

I have SP and Cali76CD ( the best Compressor)
The factory default SP settings is good but not the best ! It can be more transparent and better if you switch the second internal button to UP position and the third button to down position ( less atack and more highs ) It will become one of the best Compressors ever !

Nice - I was looking at this and the Wampler mini Ego and this comment has made the difference - nice! The Wampler sounds transparent but the build quality is not as high as exotic. Will look at buying this + the voltage doubler (xotic.us/effects/voltage-doubler). Thanks.
