Compression amounts operated by the toggle switch Low 7:04 Mid 7:15 High 7:28 The difference can be clearly noticed if you listen to the volume of the ghost notes, with high compression they're very present.
I've tried everything: cali76 cd, effecttrode PC2A, xotix sp, diamond, mad professor, dyna comp '76 reissue, etc, etc .. and the BEST of all is the VINTAGE '74 to '79 DYNA COMP with the Sensitivity at 10 o'clock !! It gives something Magical to your sound that no one can do !! But, if you "turn of ( down ) the internal switch N.3 ( high cut filter ) , put the Sustain Toggle Switch to LOW and the Blend Knob all the way to right ( CW ), you will get 95% close to Vintage Dyna Comp !! So, the SP is great with this settings !!
Are your other three dip switches just set to default? (Do you mean you just change it from *down, down,up,up* to down, down, down,up?) I'm on *down, down, down, down* (humbucker mode) for my ES-339, would that work as well or should I put dip#4 [pad] back up into it's default position to get the vintage Dyna Comp sound?
George Benson Boz scaggs Lee Ritenour anita baker Chicago Michael Jackson David sanborn just a few of the artists Paul has played with! Great guitar player!
I recommend getting some kind of live boost or making the compressor increase volume during a solo, that’s gets them to cutting level because heavy compression tends to lower the overall volume a bit
I think you might be mistaking the "auto level control" on the camera (or some sort of other limiter/compressor device) for the Xotic compressor. I wish all the mfg. making demos would stop relying on the camera to do the audio level and mixing. It really hinders the ability to properly hear the true sound of whatever device is being demonstrated.
How does he set the inside trimmers? Can you get a chicken picking country/tele tone with the SP? Thanks in advance, long time xotic user and fan here, cheers from Boston
Tony Chen - Not sure how much he really knows (Japanese fan base? Japanese spouse?), but what he said is first-day stuff in Nihongo class, "Hi, I'm so-and-so. How are you doing?" (Watashi wa (name) desu. Anata wa genki desu ka?) But, yeah, I noticed that too, he does it a lot, so I figured he's got a good fan base in Japan, maybe self a relatively higher amount of artist models there...
RealityWeb get a clue- who on earth needs to be reminded of who produced some video, much less ON TOP of the face of the reason we’re watching this video in the first place.
Judd Austin - Not only that, but if something happens to your AC Adaptor (I've had it happen, more than once: my kids' rabbit chewed through one, and another just wore out and snapped off at the strain release, and they didn't include the times I've misplaced it), you'll be very happy to be able to run it off of batteries.
I think it's pretty damn cool. That pedal is half the size of a standard Boss sized pedal and it still fits a battery. You must have a lot of room on your board.
Even when he plays alone (without a drummer backing up), he has such a great groove!
His timing and his picking are extremely consistent.
Paul is the man!

Yo, I didn’t kno that Paul Jackson jr speaks Japanese! That’s pretty cool, u the man!👍🏼
Paul Jackson Jr also played on many of Luther Vandross's music, he's a top-quality musician.
Excellent explination of dynamic range. Great player.

Paul is awesome!! One of my favorite guitar players!!
Trust Paul Jackson Jr to knock the SP Compressor demo out the park!
Best description of what a guitar compressor is and does. Thanks!
I just found out he played on the Good Times episode Michael The Warlord!
That 513 is absolutely gorgeous. Love the vid
This may be the best clean tone I have ever heard. Full stop.
.
Paul is A Beast
Such a great job describing compression to the layman!!
Paul thank you so much for this video
The snappy bass attack coming out of that PRS sounds killer.

Andre Mellao - Good to know, thanks for the tip!

Thanks for explaining compression so well.
I never heard of him before, but heard some of his playing - freaking beautiful sounds man!!
There is no One who plays it like PJJ. Love his groove.
Paul is great, but what about the SP in a live band mix? I gave up compressors since it seemed to make it hard to cut through live.

Strong right hand with GB's picking
Nice demo!

I like the fact that the CP is small and compact ... can grab and go.... Acoustic or Electric guitar ...
I learned a lot here, but I had to learn about their internal dip switches elsewhere
Omg he played on pyt? Wow
I maybe be wrong, but I think he played all the clean funky stuff on Thriller. And there's a lot of it!
@@gingataff steve lukather and david williams played on a lot of the songs.
SOLD!
Is this the same compressor he used on the Daft Punk album?
How does he set the inside trimmers? Can you get a chicken picking country/tele tone with the SP? Thanks in advance, long time xotic user and fan here, cheers from Boston
With all the respect to Paul J Jr
Great!
Genius
Does anyone know the ratios corresponding to the High-Mid-Low toggle switch? Thanks,
I agree!!!
Does anyone know which pick he uses? Dunlop JazzIII ?
Do you use compressor (the same?) for nylon strings guitar?
Oh my gosh, he knows how to speak Japanese! Wow, amazing! :)

Why the Japanese?
they pay much better
Paul how about a SL demo.
Yes, but the squash feels a little more rubbery than a Dyna Comp.
ohayo gozaimasu i love you!!
Uga uga
なぜにいきなり日本語?
And we love it!!
Japan sucks
Genki deshyo
Oh you speak Japanese !? Konnichiwa
日本語上手!!!!

I'm sorry - the ability to use a 9v battery does not qualify as a "very, very cool feature".
When you consider how tiny the case is, being able roomies a battery IS a cool feature.

Agree. It is a very, very, very cool feature.
It is always cool to have the option.
