This is mentioned in the video but needs to be brought forward: You can hold down 2 keys at once (well, a key and a mouse button) and the game will execute both skills - not simultaneously, but as willpower and rage allows. In this build that's used for spamming Arctic Spear and Havoc Orb without interruption. That wasn't obvious to me in my first hours of Wolcen, and I appreciate Ziggy mentioning it. Hopefully a few of you will also find this helpful.
Brand new to the game, you explained... like... everything.... thanks! Like way past just this build, you explained so many mechanics, just what i needed to roll. Thanks buddy!!
I love consuming embers especially once its fully leveled up as well as the lightning spell but their animations are clunky and you don't get havoc orb off nearly as often as with arctic spears. With fire and lightning you basically alternate between it and havoc orb but with ice you fire of havoc orb with ice kind of sprinkled in. It balances much better.
Thanks for this comment I'm the same, fireball build. Thanks to the replies too it helps me understand why I would ice over fire or what +/- on of chosing one vs the other
Finished my first playthrough with your build, ended up getting the deathless Act 1/2/3 achievement. Felt really good to play, the burst damage is amazing and you got tons of utility with Anomaly, Bulwark and Aether Jump. Thanks for that !
Just ignore any blocking/dodging nodes up until 50+ then start getting them, rotate your rings so they match up to Ziggy's. Follow the path up to the timeweaver nodes first then get the Child of Fury part. I looped back down to get the Ranger nodes and warlock nodes. Finally get exorcist then work on Siegebreaker nodes or Arms Maester nodes. Finish with getting your Crit in Solder branch then get the block/dodge nodes.
I mean sure it's simpler than Poe. But it's still the whole thing of I haven't learned how the damage calc works yet, don't know if the damage Inc/red are less or more mods. Just all the little things that add up and make it so much fun to experience the mechanics of a new game.
Once you aquired an additional skill bar slot, you might want to add plagueburst which is an aura that lasts for 10 seconds and greatly adds to clear speed as well. Enemies you kill explode for aoe damage which can cause clearing chain reactions. Winter's grasp can do the same but isn't as effective damage wise, bit more defensive though. Just enable the rune which causes killed freezed monsters to cast another winter's grasp causing some sweet chain reactions as well.
I was loosely following this build for a character and about partway into the story I started noticing that autoattacks were not only outdamaging arctic spear, but also seemed to be generating rage a bit more effectively despite having a positive transfer rate reduction. So I deterred a bit and specced into White Arrow's bouncy attacks/damage per pierce, grabbed grievous afflictions so my attacks both freeze and stasis, and replaced arctic spear with the railgun for one-tap stasis application. I gotta say it feels pretty good. Also started experimenting with double pistol because of its quick and satisfying autoattack pattern... It feels like it has a lot of potential because Duskshroud/Evasion fill the same niche as Bulwark and Aether Jump for mobility and survival, but the fact that there is nothing in the rogue toolkit that can replace Anomoly hurts it bad.
Hey man, check Persistence Hunting in the Ranger area, 25% damage to stasis'd enemies and 25% chance to inflict stasis behind it. Also if you spin the 3rd wheel clockwise one time you can reach Hungry Stalactite in White Arrow, or maybe check out the bounce mechanic from Wintry Hall. I know this is where im headed with the build, looking forward to the update!

Ziggy there is basically no less/more it's all increased/reduced so yea the negative damage stuff isn't really a big deal. Although it also means increased doesn't have much effect either so layering different scaling is best (Hence why crit is so good)
i think i read on reddit somewhere, someone wrote that there is no "less" or "more" dmg in this game, it's all increased/reduced, except obviously crits are basically "more". this explains why crit scaling is really good, and why all those negative % dmg nodes are good, because the downside is really not all that bad cause it's "reduced"
@@wo0o0ow69 He's using those terms in the context of PoE where they actually do mean something different. Less/More is multiplicative whereas increased/reduced is additive.

It removes 1 point only per hit. And yes, this defense mechanism is very strong as it's self contained, with no need to invest certain parts of passive tree (unlike block) , but at same time is scale very well with dodge chance, which you get easily from gear. These two will keep you alive in every situation unless you stand still against poison mobs and let them stack nasty poison fields under your feet

Great build, thanks. I'm actually trying to do something similar using the ember ("fireball") spell instead of the ice spear. Any reason not to use Safe From Afar (increased damage based on distance to enemies)? Is it just lack of points? That seems like it would be really powerful. I guess it depends on if you want to get right up in their faces or not.
The bomb goes through mobs, as it target ground, not monsters. But the missiles would explode when meeting their first enemy which is bad when you get bit number of monsters. Hence the pierce
Could you possibly make a follow up video on which nodes you take next cuz I've already gotten to your level and not sure what nodes are more viable than others.
i switched out Arctic Spear to the Frost Nova where you can click to place it. it seems to be working better for me. i do have problems with the commanders that reflect damage though. it's the ground mines that push me through my revive tokens.
I was playing with a staff annihilation build and got my ass kicked by edric in his third form. So now I changed my build into this one and I'm trying to farm some items before going into edric again. It's a shame that I can't redo past bosses, they always seems to drop some rares

Hi this build is amazing! I have just one question, how do I know if I have successfully applied Stasis on the mobs?
how do you feel about the "baptism by hail" mod on havoc orb it basically adds all the projectiles you would need, but its sequential so not as much coverage
@@ZiggyDGaming i've been enjoying it alot enemies get a small animation lock when they are hit by a missile so it acts as a "freeze" of sorts ill prob dupe the skill for aoe when i get my 5th slot
You can start with any, just have to pick up the items and skills when you can. Ranged will help since you get strings of k-something and you can start picking up the ranged damage nodes
Pierce make it not explode on firsst target, but does damage all the same. Only missing the aoe from explosions. That's why you need to have 3 projectiles before you switch to missiles. Anything less than 3 projectiles will make you miss many of monsters
I've done a lot of testing on the build when I was doing some low end expeditions (80 to 100 more or less) and felt like I had more reliable damage without Pierce. Havoc orb with 3 projectiles actually hit beyond the first mobs quite often so it didn't affect clear at all. Not sure how it clears the ascended expeditions as I switched - havoc orb felt a bit clunky at times.
Couple of points I noticed when putting my passive points, in the "ranger" tree there is a talent called "Bullseye" which is next to "Archions teaching" the furthest golden node from center. It basically buffs your projectiles critical damage by 25%. Any reason for leaving it out?
You should try frenzied blows in child of fury, it's currently busted. Doubles your rage cost but also doubles your damage. Since infinite rage generation is a thing, you can have double damage almost always as long as you kill things. Combine it with stasis double damage and you have 4x damage. It might get nerfed, so I'd recommend having fun with it before it happens. EDIT: I recommend converting arctic spear to sacred damage with the modifier since sacred damage wil apply weakness and increase your damage and survivability.
The mixed reviews came from the game having two days of servers offline immediately following launch. Before that fiasco, it was mostly positive. As for being worth it, it's fun if you like ARPGs. It very much feels like Diablo 3 to me most of the time, even some of the enemies seem like straight copies. The major downside currently is there are a lot of bugs, especially in the passive tree. Hoping the success lights a fire under their asses to get the bugs worked out, then I'd imagine it'll end up as one of the top ARPGs on the market.
I've been really impressed with it, although I've only been playing offline mode. It feels like they took all the good stuff from D3 and the (albeit limited) good stuff from POE and built on it. I probably wouldn't recommend it for perhaps a couple of weeks if you are easily frustrated by bugs, although personally I've only had a couple of issues with flying enemies I couldn't target, but found AOE attacks still hit them which kind acts as a workaround.
@@fntksgaming The main issue is that offline characters can't be played online, and I have some friends interested in the game so I started an online character. Feels like a waste to level up an offline character only to dump it later when the servers are back up.
@@Jasta85 Make's sense that they can't be used online as they are saved locally therefore able to be modified, though I understand where you are coming from. Personally I leveled a character all the way to endgame offline just so I could test out some different skills to see what I like
8:54 No, thats not how the math works. It works additive with your other increased dodge chance score, so it increase it much less than 100% depending how much % increase you already have. Im tired of explaining to people how additive increases vs multiplicative increases works...
You wouldn't have much increased dodge anyway. All dodge on gear is flat numbers (with one excision for rings or amulet), and you only have one or two nodes with 14% increased. So let's say it would take your increased from 28% to 128%. So if you have 500 score (28% increased inculded). Then having 100% increased node will take your score to 900 rather than 1000. Still pretty decent
You can reset your stats and passives (for currency), and switch skills in and out at will. I switched over to this build around level 35 - the stats and passive I changed immediately and leveling the skills took about 3 to 4 hours of game play. Well worth it!
The zombie dudes are so weak they die fast, the golem dude is decent when leveled I have the added health runes on. I use him to tank while I spam fireball lol
How are you handling shoot in place? I'm using pistol and shield and use the standard attack a lot to stack ailments. With little critters or the bugged bats, targeting can be an issue so standing and shooting works well, but I find the shift key awkward. I've remapped it but I find it clunky. (Thank you PoE for the permanent attack in place option.)
I'm actually lvl71 playing an heavily variation of this build. tl;dr; icespear is bad and the shell provided by ziggyD doesn't provide enough scalling for end game. It has some good multiplier tools but it's not enough.
I'm heading for the 'dodge through enemies' node after dying for the first time to the act 2 boss. I made the mistake of using an ascendancy and the damage was so bad that I ended up surrounded. My second attempt with my normal build had no issues, but I'm getting the node anyway.
Doing similar build but focusing on energy shield and spells for damage but i can't seem to find a gun without rage retention. Seems impossible which is unfortunate as it affects my willpower spending ability.
Because life and resistance are best two defenses for this build. You can easily get 30-40 damage reduction from resists. Alternatively, you can pick some heavy armour pieces if they have double "toughness" mods, because toughness would give you more life than bruiser gives you. And it also increase your damage if it's your second or third highest stat. On top of that, if you have one or two rogue small pieces (like glovew), toughness increase force shield as well as life, so you might end up with 10% - 15% more effective life
This is mentioned in the video but needs to be brought forward: You can hold down 2 keys at once (well, a key and a mouse button) and the game will execute both skills - not simultaneously, but as willpower and rage allows.
Great vid, any way of working gunslingers brand into this build?
I was playing with a staff annihilation build and got my ass kicked by edric in his third form. So now I changed my build into this one and I'm trying to farm some items before going into edric again. It's a shame that I can't redo past bosses, they always seems to drop some rares
Hi this build is amazing! I have just one question, how do I know if I have successfully applied Stasis on the mobs?
Think there is a wavy purple circle under them when it's applied
hi, i have one question: i really like gunslinger brand, can i put it in your build?
how do you feel about the "baptism by hail" mod on havoc orb
it basically adds all the projectiles you would need, but its sequential so not as much coverage
It's really good for bosses but pretty rough for clearing and resource spending.
@@ZiggyDGaming i've been enjoying it alot
enemies get a small animation lock when they are hit by a missile so it acts as a "freeze" of sorts
ill prob dupe the skill for aoe when i get my 5th slot
Oh no is he also here now....crist
Which starter "class" you start the game? Ranged or Mage? With Pistol I can't regenerate Willpower so I started with staff.
You can start with any, just have to pick up the items and skills when you can. Ranged will help since you get strings of k-something and you can start picking up the ranged damage nodes
Does Havoc Orb with pierce not lose on potential explosion dmg when hitting the target? Or doesn't skill work that way when turned into a projectile?
tested it in offline mode and it seems that with the pierce node it sometimes passes the enemy and not hit at all not sure if its again...... a bug
I do have it now!
@@ZiggyDGaming Ahh nice, I tried the build its more fun than I thought, ++ from me!
I have seen so many mixed reviews about this game. Now that it's been out for a week or so do you think it is worth it?
The mixed reviews came from the game having two days of servers offline immediately following launch. Before that fiasco, it was mostly positive. As for being worth it, it's fun if you like ARPGs. It very much feels like Diablo 3 to me most of the time, even some of the enemies seem like straight copies. The major downside currently is there are a lot of bugs, especially in the passive tree. Hoping the success lights a fire under their asses to get the bugs worked out, then I'd imagine it'll end up as one of the top ARPGs on the market.
the game itself is good. Just the dev underestimated players rushing into their servers at the launch
@@bobtheyob that small flying creatures really difficult to target. Well we are not short of AOE spells and skills so not a big issue
Esoterick Just hold left click on mouse to avoid that targeting issue
How did you remove the cooldown on Havoc Orb? Is it a higher level skill thing ?
It doesn't have a cooldown by default, just costs a lot of rage
@@ZiggyDGaming could've sworn it had cooldown yesterday when I played online with a buddy.
Will check again :)
No CD, no CT. Too OP IMO
don't know why but my artic spears make 147 average damage also no frost damage applied. Don't know whats wrong, I'm level 47
Managed to get through Act 1 with a similar build to this, although the servers went down after that. Hopefully they come back on this weekend.
Gave it up on playing online, might as well only play offline, since there's no difference
@@fntksgaming The main issue is that offline characters can't be played online, and I have some friends interested in the game so I started an online character. Feels like a waste to level up an offline character only to dump it later when the servers are back up.
The game looks great. Waiting for a major patch or 2 before i get it though.
@@Jasta85 I mean, you could also use it as an offline char for when your internet goes out, traveling, etc
@@Jasta85 Make's sense that they can't be used online as they are saved locally therefore able to be modified, though I understand where you are coming from. Personally I leveled a character all the way to endgame offline just so I could test out some different skills to see what I like
do you know if the stasis node that makes them take damage again applies ailments on the free hit?
Pretty sure it doesn't work with ailments but ailments are really good anyway it seems!
Does the which time cannot heal, does that node for ALL damage? Does that effect tic damage too?
I really wanna know that too. my ailments build would love that
Non, it doesn't helpay ailments
@@nawawii3750 Who even cares about dodge anyway, when you can get 100% block and 100% block efficiency in this game...
My bayonetta theme build doesn't seem so unique anymore. 😆
what are u going for after you ahve set full in passiv tree in 54. :D
this is what I was looking for...
Really wish you would put link in for build. Keep having to take pictures
wolcen-universe.com/builds/GnNeLG-gun-mage
do you thing the build works with a dagger ?
Do you think this build is viable in high LVL?
im level 40 can I change to this build now? do you have a lower level starting guide so I can switch
You can reset your stats and passives (for currency), and switch skills in and out at will. I switched over to this build around level 35 - the stats and passive I changed immediately and leveling the skills took about 3 to 4 hours of game play. Well worth it!
is it better to have online? does this game have trading?
I also want to find out. What's the point of Online if I'm already playing solo?
offline and online are different, u need to play online for multiplayer and trade.
Yes the game has trading option in online mod
So it's like SSf then in Poe
Are there minions and summoner playstyle in wolcen?
The zombie dudes are so weak they die fast, the golem dude is decent when leveled I have the added health runes on. I use him to tank while I spam fireball lol
RE: Doubling dodge score doubles % chance to dodge. This is not the case. There are diminishing returns as score increases.
So with more score less effective dodge/attack speed ...etc??
how do you get the pistol to do the shotgun thing? with cataylst off hand it turns into a single shot pistol
pistol+ shield
How are you handling shoot in place?
I'm using pistol and shield and use the standard attack a lot to stack ailments. With little critters or the bugged bats, targeting can be an issue so standing and shooting works well, but I find the shift key awkward. I've remapped it but I find it clunky. (Thank you PoE for the permanent attack in place option.)
hold shift
Please make a video of a highter level character like 60 + -70 so we know how to progress this build
I'm actually lvl71 playing an heavily variation of this build.
tl;dr; icespear is bad and the shell provided by ziggyD doesn't provide enough scalling for end game. It has some good multiplier tools but it's not enough.
Would you be willing to post some ss of your build? Interested to see what you did
@@thegrumpylobster2937 sure, but how?
There's a way to share builds now: wolcen.dev/
What is your main attack??
It does seems residual energy work only on basic attack atm no ?
Can we get some sort of planner please?
I'm heading for the 'dodge through enemies' node after dying for the first time to the act 2 boss. I made the mistake of using an ascendancy and the damage was so bad that I ended up surrounded. My second attempt with my normal build had no issues, but I'm getting the node anyway.
Doing similar build but focusing on energy shield and spells for damage but i can't seem to find a gun without rage retention. Seems impossible which is unfortunate as it affects my willpower spending ability.
How do you get 3 projectiles on the havoc orb? i only get 2
Zyfus i believe one is from the skill itself. Upgrade rune or whatever. Then one is from his passive tree
when the update for the build ?
any reason why you chose bruiser gear instead of rogue gear?
Because life and resistance are best two defenses for this build. You can easily get 30-40 damage reduction from resists.
Alternatively, you can pick some heavy armour pieces if they have double "toughness" mods, because toughness would give you more life than bruiser gives you. And it also increase your damage if it's your second or third highest stat. On top of that, if you have one or two rogue small pieces (like glovew), toughness increase force shield as well as life, so you might end up with 10% - 15% more effective life
Is there a way to reset your skill tree?
Hey guys at what point should i switch to havoc orb instead of the sting? As soon as i get the missiles?
I leveled with it along anamolly and annihilation, used to one shot packs with the bomb, just need to keep your distance
@@nawawii3750 thanks for the answer im in endgame a Couple of days now and the Build is extremely strong now. Enjoy ur weekend
