Wasn't there a bearded lady on X-Factor or Britain's Got Talent a few years go? (the show where there's 4 judges and the singer / group introduces themselves and starts singing) Maybe that beard is in the game too so you can recreate that singer
@@jordaneverett3004 Yes, it did the grid system first but not the rotating bit which is what he was talking about. I also love that it can rotate around so you're not forced to dig through like PoE just for the few things you want, should lead to some really interesting builds
Not gonna lie, when he rotated that skill wheel, I screamed out loud, because I spent a couple of hours trying to come up with reasonable routes in the wheel which I happened to start with.
i love when the game is so new that there isn't a meta so i don't feel forced to pick between the best builds imma roll with an ailment build that is exceptionally tanky gonna stack dots on enemies and watch them die while i dodge around / facetank until they die it's probably gonna be an awful build but maybe i'll hit a jackpot

Am going for an ailment build as well. But I'll be focusing on attack speed and poison. During the beta I like one of the red trees that gives you 80% more toxins and rend (whic I guess is bleed?) but can't inflict elemental ailments. So it's gonna be green>red>green for me. Excited to see how that works out

Don't buy it right now, you can't play online and offline doesn't save your character/wipes your progress randomly. It's a known bug and affecting a lot of players.
Don't buy the game now. The game is filled with bugs and a broken online. There is a major bug where your attacks will just harmlessly pass through enemies. Arrows, aoe hammer attacks, doesn't matter. You can click all you want and you'll do no damage. This is fairly frequent and multiple people are expressing frustration over being unable to beat the first big dungeon due to hitboxes that just don't work. Nevermind the bad performance that makes the game stutter like crazy. It is not worth your money now.

Blocking isn't reliant on shields! If you have a heavy chest piece or helmet (iirc) you gain block chance for any weapon too. So you can do a blocky dual wielding beerzerker type thing, if that is what you'd like :)
@@Stack-Overflowed Added defense/ block. Also unless this was changed from beta shields add a modifier to pistols, if you have one equipped, to work more like shotguns.

Most excellent video, Rhykker. Wolcen's take on the ARPG is a little different than other ARPG's (IMO), so a little bit of consideration as to what kind of build you wanna go with is pretty important. If the Act 1 boss is any indication as to how the rest of the game is going to go.... we can't mess around. Those boss fights are TOUGH!!!

Seriously! I like the depth of the skill tree but it looks way more accessible to me than PoE. I always preferred D3 cause I liked the simplicity but this skill tree has enough depth that I can play around but still feels basic enough that it's moderately clear what path to take.
Remember this is early access. They have to keep pushing good like this to make it super successful. I personally think it’s a game too good to be true but so far they got me on it. I love both D3 and PoE but D3 is sometimes too simple in builds while PoE is sometimes overly complex. Also, it kills me that PoE can’t be played offline lag is a bitch on it even solo self found.
That's what I love about the game. It let's me decide how I want to make my build instead of pushing me towards something I'm not kind of liking much. It gives me that freedom and that's what players want.
Great guide, I'm glad you are taking it on. About 20 hrs of game play so far. I am taking the time to explore every inch of the maps, smash every breakable and kill every mob. It does have a few bugs, but I still am enjoying the game overall. At $40 it's worth it.

So, I don't know how optimized this build is, but I do love how I can pump everything into the hp stat and still gain attack damage due to how the system work.

Just to clarify from my time in the beta, all damage types have an ailment, even an unenchanted sword. There are damage classes (Material, Elemental, Occult) each with their own sub categories. So a cabalist isn't just for casters, it's also good for melee and archer builds to apply your weapon ailment, and to trigger the ailment of any additional damage from magical effects.
Ehhh, the banner that shows the "class" name is definitely purple yeah, but the orbs themselves are more indigo, leaning a lot more towards blue than purple. I'd call them blue if I was talking about them too.
@@gabbonoo Because saying indigo just confuses most people and requires further explanation regardless. It's in between blue and violet, and purple is on the other side of violet so calling it purple is way worse than calling it blue anyway.
Well this vid answers my question if I was gonna get this or Grim Dawn first. Wolcen actually seems pretty legit and seems like it is fun and satisfying leveling towards the endgame. I'll buy this first then Grim Dawn.
Wolcen is awesome , but it's having some launch issues , while Grim Dawn has been smooth for a long time. Just something to think about. I like them both , and even like Wolcen a bit more. But it is having issues at the moment.
Ofc wolcen got some issues, almost every game got that on release. But i most say, grim down isnt that good, played it alot, but didnt get that fun feeling.

Seeing you talk about the skill tree made me buy the game. Seeing that its actually much more simpler than it looks is a huge sigh of relief for me, I love PoE but I cant play that game without a guide in any way, was scared I would have to wait a few weeks until builds started poping up.
The way Wolcen makes so many things work together , or work with various skills - it really does look like the kind of game , where it is simple to make builds , but has enough complexity to make building fun. I'm really happy with it so far.

Shadly i can't play offline mode since i suffer from character progression reset bug-issues.. :( I hope they can fix it soon..Every time i do a character when i exit and re enter the game,my character is gone,like i didn't create it at all and i can't find anywhere the SAVE folder in Wolcen folder..So some people play just fine offline mode others can't play Offline,this is sad.
The info on the gate of fates you provide in this video is very simplistic to a fault in my opinion. This game customization is fun because you can mix and match pretty much everything. The ranger sub class for example works for any projectile making its almost even better on page archetypes than now wielder. That's just one example. I know it's a beginner guide but still.
This game has an strong smell to Warhammer fantasy... i just saw fking Juggernaut of Khorne at 8:19 And a lot of more reference, don't get me wrong, i love it!

I like the idea of "turns" for end game content that aren't tied to time gating or daily quests (or whatever) As someone who doesn't have time to play a game every day except for POTENTIALLY the odd weekend session of a few hours at a time. The way wolcen appears to be handling this definitely seems more player time friendly. Excited to get a chance to play this in the future.
@@girthpapi Because in chapter 4 it is all about mixing abilities from different jobs to complement the skills ( base class ) you choose to focus on. It is a pretty obvious comparison.
Love the game so far! Just a quick side-note. As a mage, attack speed can still be important! Having fast auto attacks that regen willpower is very helpful :D
@Ace Arch yep exactly. Although most of my crit comes from spells and all of my leech comes from spells. Depends on the build. You could honestly do a crit auto attack image and it would work amazingly with the projectile bounce node.
16GB is actually the entire Game just uninstall the Game in steam and delete the left overs in the Steamapps/common Folder to avoid bugs and Problems is advised by the Devs.
OMFG my jaw was on the ground when explaining how many classes there are. Buying it now! Edit: Unfortunately another gamelauch that is just fucked. Can't start an online or offline game. Think the success got them by suprise.

@@nerulon089 Why is everyone saying they can't play the game, when in reality the only one preventing them from playing is themselves? Theres 0 harm in playing offline its the same game, unless you are dead set on playing with a friend theres no reason to not play offline and even then you can still use offline to experiment find a build you like then when online works cause theres big issues like people losing their characters entirely you can jump in and wreck with the build you enjoyed the most in offline for maximum fun with friends. The numerous different builds makes reputability incredibly high, so blowing through the story a 2nd time really shouldn't be any skin off your back. Since you can do it in a completely different manner.
D3 has never been the same for me ever since they changed the Marauder set. But it looks like you have a turret archer build that looks super fun. WOLCEN HERE I COME
yeah honestly, the act 1 boss in diablo 3 is a massive joke so lol, although the one in poe is probably easier for me now that i know that she mainly likes to use ice alot of the time.
I never had any issue with the act1 poe boss without buying any items.. the Wolcen boss was a pretty strong though. Three phases and having to learn his attack patterns. Took me a few attempts :/

I ended up playing until the early morning, sleeping for like 4 hours... and that's with 1 extra hour from oversleeping - I was late to work. Needless to say, the game is good.
It would be cool to see you partner up with Force, or other people in this partnership, and do one of the hardest dungeons possible while talking about your builds.

( wow am I late to THIS party. lol) After Torchlight 2, ( and the synergy mods) ,the Diablo series 1,2,3 , Path Of Exile, Grim Dawn, this is a refreshing challenge, and the end game stuff is exciting, I didn't even know about! The bonus damage for stat points is 50%, 40%, 30%, 20%, of BONUS stats(what you allocated) and not base stats(you gain 1 of each per level).
I don't think it was intentional but the fact they put the hotkey for the Apocalyptic form on F is brilliant. "Press F to INSTILL RESPECT"
When you rotated that skill tree my brain hurt.

Yeah , it's actually an amazing system. The generality of some of the nodes , like how you mentioned , really opens up some neat ideas.

Seeing you talk about the skill tree made me buy the game. Seeing that its actually much more simpler than it looks is a huge sigh of relief for me, I love PoE but I cant play that game without a guide in any way, was scared I would have to wait a few weeks until builds started poping up.
The way Wolcen makes so many things work together , or work with various skills - it really does look like the kind of game , where it is simple to make builds , but has enough complexity to make building fun. I'm really happy with it so far.
I downloaded steam and bought it. I am going in 100% fresh, no reviews/no expectations. Just fresh experience, although it was 10 bucks cheaper an hour before I snagged it, awell!

Steam is having issues including myself with Authentication for online play. They are currently working on it. I can only play offline atm.
It is nice to see a modern ARPG that allows offline play. It might get my money for that feature alone.
I was planning to play offline either way, I don't want lag affecting my single-player experience

Shadly i can't play offline mode since i suffer from character progression reset bug-issues.. :( I hope they can fix it soon..Every time i do a character when i exit and re enter the game,my character is gone,like i didn't create it at all and i can't find anywhere the SAVE folder in Wolcen folder..So some people play just fine offline mode others can't play Offline,this is sad.
The info on the gate of fates you provide in this video is very simplistic to a fault in my opinion.
This game customization is fun because you can mix and match pretty much everything. The ranger sub class for example works for any projectile making its almost even better on page archetypes than now wielder. That's just one example.
I know it's a beginner guide but still.

I like the idea of "turns" for end game content that aren't tied to time gating or daily quests (or whatever)
As someone who doesn't have time to play a game every day except for POTENTIALLY the odd weekend session of a few hours at a time. The way wolcen appears to be handling this definitely seems more player time friendly. Excited to get a chance to play this in the future.

@@girthpapi Because in chapter 4 it is all about mixing abilities from different jobs to complement the skills ( base class ) you choose to focus on. It is a pretty obvious comparison.

Love the game so far! Just a quick side-note. As a mage, attack speed can still be important! Having fast auto attacks that regen willpower is very helpful :D
@Ace Arch yep exactly. Although most of my crit comes from spells and all of my leech comes from spells. Depends on the build. You could honestly do a crit auto attack image and it would work amazingly with the projectile bounce node.
with the current state of blizzard, if diablo 4 fails this looks like a good alternative

thought I downloaded the game yesterday, sit down to start playing after work and realize I have a 16 GB update....
16GB is actually the entire Game just uninstall the Game in steam and delete the left overs in the Steamapps/common Folder to avoid bugs and Problems is advised by the Devs.

@@nerulon089 Why is everyone saying they can't play the game, when in reality the only one preventing them from playing is themselves? Theres 0 harm in playing offline its the same game, unless you are dead set on playing with a friend theres no reason to not play offline and even then you can still use offline to experiment find a build you like then when online works cause theres big issues like people losing their characters entirely you can jump in and wreck with the build you enjoyed the most in offline for maximum fun with friends. The numerous different builds makes reputability incredibly high, so blowing through the story a 2nd time really shouldn't be any skin off your back. Since you can do it in a completely different manner.
D3 has never been the same for me ever since they changed the Marauder set. But it looks like you have a turret archer build that looks super fun. WOLCEN HERE I COME

I never had any issue with the act1 poe boss without buying any items.. the Wolcen boss was a pretty strong though. Three phases and having to learn his attack patterns. Took me a few attempts :/

Backing this for about two years.... Expectations are pretty high... Looks like an all-nighter!...
I ended up playing until the early morning, sleeping for like 4 hours... and that's with 1 extra hour from oversleeping - I was late to work.
Needless to say, the game is good.
It would be cool to see you partner up with Force, or other people in this partnership, and do one of the hardest dungeons possible while talking about your builds.
Just bought this on Steam. ( wow am I late to THIS party. lol) After Torchlight 2, ( and the synergy mods) ,the Diablo series 1,2,3 , Path Of Exile, Grim Dawn, this is a refreshing challenge, and the end game stuff is exciting, I didn't even know about!
