    Funny thing about the idols is that since D2 introduced talismans, I was preaching they should have had their own separate slots / inventory section available to arrange as you please within certain space limits. That would stop the very unfortunate situation when people fill their inventory with talismans because they are too powerful to skip. Idols and separate slot for these is as if someone finally listened to my prayer lmao. I love this solution so much.

      In multiplayer everything is still tied to your character, the only difference is you can play with friends or other people, the monolith blessings are applied to your character only, not the monolith itself, as you say each player has their own progression, hope this cleared things up for you!

    i paused the video when you spoke about rune of removal, removing the affix you want. but the description says when you hover over it that its random?

    • @manarith8081
      @manarith8081  7 месяцев назад +1

      Correct it is random, but unlike rune of shattering, it guarantee's you the number of shards you want if it happens to remove that affix, all while having 4 attempts. With a rune of shattering you have 1 attempt, and there is no guarantee you get the affix shard you want, and even if you do, it will be a random amount of shards. My wording on this specific point could definitely be improved upon, and i am currently working on a crafting guide that will be more precise, apologies if this misled you

    The resistance info is wrong. Resistance doesnt work like poe.

    • @manarith8081
      @manarith8081  8 месяцев назад

      Nah your incorrect, it works the exact same as all ARPG's, the only difference is the enemies penetrate resistances depending on level until 75%, rather than having those resistances stripped from your character when entering higher difficulties. Considering this is a beginner's guide, resistances are EXTREMELY helpful in the early levels especially when fighting Lagon which is a wall for lots of builds, most people struggle and don't realize they have no cold lightning or physical resistance.

    A couple of precisions I feel need to be made :
    - Damage over time doesn't work like in most game. There are two type : Skills that do damage over time directly (for example : Disintegrate or Maelstrom), and Ailments.
    Damage over time skills scale with attack type (generally Spell damage) and don't trigger "hit" effects. They also can't crit (as a general rule, effects that don't "hit" can't crit). Apart from that, they mostly work like regular skills.
    Ailments are effects that are applied on "hits", and act as a debuff with generally a damage component (but not always) for example : Ignite. Ailments are special in the sense that they don't scale with flat damage or attack type like Spell damage. They have a fixed base value, and only scale with Damage type (like Fire damage will scale Ignite damages) and Damage over Time. They are debuffs with a fixed timer that can stack (some can have unlimited stacks, other can't)
    In other words, if you want to build around ailments, you don't care about flat damage, crit, and so on. What you want is a lot of attack speed (to generate a lot of hits as fast as possible) and appropriate Damage type (like Fire Damage) and Damage over Time. You don't care if the skill itself doesn't do a lot of damages, what you want is a skill that hit very fast (like for example Flurry).
    - Damage multipliers : they are the main way to boost your dps, you want as many as you can.
    However how do you know what is multiplicative, and what is additive ?
    It's simple : anything that is labelled "Increased damage" is additive. It means that if you have 100% increased fire damage, and 100% increased spell damage, then your Fireball spell will hit for 300% of its base damage.
    Anything labelled with "More damage" is multiplicative. If you have 100% increased fire damage, and 100% more damage to Fireball, then your Fireball spell will hit for 400% of its base damages.
    So be on the lookout for these "more" multipliers (generally in the skill tree), they are the best way to scale up your damages. Of courses, things like crit chance or attack speed also act like multipliers.
    So what's the difference between Fire damage and Elemental damage, if they work mecanically the same ? Well it matters when it comes to affixes that can appear on items. For the same level of affixes, you'll get a higher value in Fire damage than you would get from Elemental damage. As a rule of thumb, specialized affixes can get higher values than general affixes. that's why it's better to focalize on one specific damage type (like Fire damage) instead of more general one (like Elemental damage).
    - Resistance are not as important as it may seem.
    Don't get me wrong, they ARE important. However, they're are not as fundamentaly important as they are in other games like PoE for example.
    There is one thing important to know : monsters get a systematic 1% resistance penetration for each of their level (capped at 75% penetration at level 75). And it changes things quite a lot at high level.
    In a game like PoE, a character with 0 resistance will take 400% damages from the same hit, compared to a character with 75% resistance. It's a huge deal.
    However in LE, as monsters at lvl 75+ all have 75% penetration, a character with originally 75% resistance will get hit exactly like he had 0% resistance, while a character with 0% resistance will get hit like he had -75%. It means that, compared to character with 75% res, a character with 0% res will "only" take 175% damages from the same hit. Not something you can ignore, but the difference is far less drastic than in other games.
    In short, yes resistances are important, but not enough to prioritize them completely other the rest. It's at least as important to get as much life you can get, get to 60% endurance and 100% crit avoidance. Each class generally also get access to other type of powerfull defense. You can be perfectly fine at high level with 50% all res, as long as you have enough of the rest.

    • @MrKozlosPL
      @MrKozlosPL 8 месяцев назад

      thank you for explaining. It's nice to see that you can specialize in one type of damage like fire/ignite dmg, as POE does often counter builds as a trap for players who aren't alert enough or built like tank with an oil tycoon budget.

  • @Not-Half-Brad
    @Not-Half-Brad 7 месяцев назад +2

    I have always loved the idea of playing ARPGs, but I get easily overwhelmed by the affixes on gear and the massive talent trees (in Last Epoch, "Passives" and "Skill Specializations").
    I ultimately start looking up build guides, and maybe find a few that interest me.
    Then I get frustrated because I'm just choosing a build because it has the highest damage potential, and it takes away the "discovery" feeling I get from learning and understanding build synergy for each Class/Mastery.
    Here, I find a video explaining exactly what I want: the ability to make my own decisions with some solid information on how to do that. I already had a good idea of how I should do this, but the author of this video does a great job of hammering down the essentials of how to create a build and what facets of damage and survival are the most important. At a length of 19:13, it still feels concise, and the author paces his voice well to where I don't need to rewind frequently to recall what was said.
    Subscribed and I very much look forward to future content, Manarith!

    I feel like we need one more skill fives just feels too low in 2024 for an RPG. Or at least give us the ability to add one basic skill along with five other skills.
    I can't wait for 1.0 more for some bug fixes than anything else. I love to use shield charge with my sentinel but it keeps getting stuck everywhere especially during boss battles and dies.

    The thing I love most about the crafting system is that it just seems to fit so naturally into the gameplay loop.. like youre farming for the bases/items you need and the crafting is just tailoring those items to your needs.... in PoE, crafting just feels completely detached from the game.. most people wont even participate in it. They just buy the finished items they need in order to farm more currency.. if simply "farming currency" gets old, then PoE can get very stale (though, I think GGG does a great job at distracting you from the idea that "farming currency" is the entirety of what the game boils down to).

  • @halfblue2678
    @halfblue2678 7 месяцев назад

    ok, one thing that I was expecting to be mentioned in the staying alive part is kiting. If you're good at kiting, you can survive longer with fewer/lower resistances. And you can't really reach cap resistances at the beginning, and if you try to get to resistance cap very early on, you might feel bored because, yeah, you won't die easily but it'll take longer to kill mobs as well. Using a + point to skill isn't that important imo, you'll be better off adding an affix that adds damage to your skills I feel

    One of my FAVORITE things about LE has always been that you can Build around your Favorite Skill and the build be Viable for the whole MSQ and at least the first bunch of hours of End Game.
    SOOO many current aRPGs end up having 2 or 3 'great' builds and the rest are just 'meh'.
    As long as you have an understanding of how to 'learn into' the Skills correctly, you can make that shizz WORK!

    Great informative vid :D I'm thinking of getting it when it releases. Quick question: Does anything other than the stuff in the stash affect all characters? For example, in PoE, endgame atlas tree and lab trials affect all characters. (Lab trials so new characters in the same league don't have to do them again) Another question: What class/class mastery do you think is easier to start with for ranged attackers? Thanks! :D

    • @manarith8081
      @manarith8081  8 месяцев назад

      To answer your first question, not really, just your stash effects all characters, but having a high level character to make a low level unique into a legendary with end game stats, basically allows you to create powerful "Heirlooms" to power level your alts, like adding 290% extra damage to a lvl 1 unique for example. As for the class I say pick a Mage and go Runemaster! There are lots of very powerful and fun skills to use, definitely a great choice for any ranged enjoyers. Thanks for tuning into the video my guy!

    The “blessed hammer”- like skill is 100% straight up copy of diablo 2’s hammer but more so it copies d3 graphic wise…
    One thing i dont like is all these spell attacks dont have that specific impact feel when they contact the monsters. That is something bliz does well with their physic and ragdoll engine.

    • @manarith8081
      @manarith8081  8 месяцев назад

      There is no doubt that Blizzard is the reining champion when it comes to game feel, controls, and fluidity, but even then I find myself drawn to this game over D4 because of the sheer creativity it allows when crafting your own character and build. Of course I hope full release will be able to capture the impact and overall game feel of a blizzard game, but even without that extreme level of polish, Last Epoch is incredible.

    Anyway solid guide.
    Some people like to be hand held through a build but others (the ones who tend to stick around longer in a game) just want advice on how to contruct or improve their own builds.

      @manarith8081  8 месяцев назад

      Maybe... hahaha thanks man appreciate it, although build guides help people just play the game and have fun, i think ARPG's special quality is going through the process of creating a build yourself and seeing it succeed, hell even if it fails, the things you learn along the way make every build after the first more fun and rewarding

    This game doesn't need a starter guide, the campaign and beginning of monoliths is intentionally designed to be as easy as possible and unfailable, like a mobile game.
    It's a shame because it's a great game completely ruined by zero difficulty and endless bugs.

    • @manarith8081
      @manarith8081  7 месяцев назад

      Not true, most will struggle late in the campaign cause the difficulty spikes with Lagon, and more so in monoliths if you don't scale gear and stats properly, the game is intentionally designed to embrace creativity with how you play the game, certainly does not hold your hand like a mobile game.

    • @manarith8081
      @manarith8081  7 месяцев назад

      its the crafting system that lets you keep killing shit, you don't need to pick up and sell every item for gold, or run to town to dismantle every item after a dungeon like D4, the fascination with crafting is the opposite of what you think, its the reason you get to keep killing shit, more so than PoE and D4

    • @MorionAikanaro
      @MorionAikanaro 7 месяцев назад

      @manarith8081 I spent 30 mins trying to figure it out last night and still no idea wtf to do. I didn't look for a guide or anything because you shouldn't NEED an outside source to figure it out. Like I have a bunch of shards, I clicked to put them in the crafting inventory (which should be automatic anyway?) And then I click on all the crafting spots in the forge and there's nothing listed.
      I guess I just prefer to kill things to find my upgrades. I play an arpg to kill things not to stop and take a break to craft items then kill things. If it takes away from my time spamming buttons that isn't fun to me. The wow developers said it best when they were describing what haste was going to do after they changed it. "Pushing more buttons is more fun".

    just curious how poison scales. So if im doing a build where i have chance to poison, poison duration, poison damage all on my skills/items and another skill says "next skill does 30% more damage" will only the hit for that skill do the more or will the poison that skill applies do more as well?

    • @manarith8081
      @manarith8081  7 месяцев назад

      good question, I want to say only the hit from the skill, poison dot damage scales from increases to damage over time, the hit itself does not make the poison hit harder, I could be wrong but I think that is mainly because poison scales infinite, and has its own damage

    • @christopherhughes7970
      @christopherhughes7970 7 месяцев назад

      Ok, cause I was looking at the node “braskulas hesitation” on the skill shift, and it just says “ you do more damage with your next skill”, so I was hoping that if I used puncture with scalebane node that the poisons it inflicted would also do 30% more. If it does not scale the poison damage then attack speed/shred would really be the only way to scale my poison damage with other skills
