Fish of a lifetime that Huss absolutely huge . I respect your thoughts on not regretting killing it for weight conformation . Cheers for the great content 👍🏼
And you will mate. Was really good to have a chat. Gave me some confidence at the start of the session for sure. Well done you too mate on that blue skate. Super rare, and first for the island. Congrats buddy👍👍🙏
Thank you, I was so happy. I'm not sure it will, but you never know. We all know though, might get a t-shirt printed, maybe a piece in the county press 😂😂
Well done Dylan !! That was one hell of a Huss mate ! I’ve been fishing all my life and never had one over 3lb. You have worked hard and put the time and effort in and it’s finally paid off. Your 1st Ray was a good fish as well !! Love your excitement and can relate to it well, I had an 11lb Undulate Ray 3 weeks ago and I was the same, dancing all over the beach lol. That’s what makes fishing so special the excitement and the rush when you get some thing decent ! And also Chale is a very special place, untouched and beautiful and you never know what your going to catch. You will certainly be going there again ! Keep the vids coming mate thoroughly enjoying them 👍
Thanks buddy very kind of you. I was so chuffed, but also in shock I think. I didn't really comprehend how good a fish that huss was. It is a special place for sure👍👍
Brilliant mate, well chough for you there's not any other feeling like it, although you've been struggling to find a ray they'll come like buses now 😀 take care buddy 👍
Hi Dylan, congratulations on the Bull Huss. I have a tide table booklet which has the IOW records. The 12 pounder previous record it says was caught from a boat the shore record it says was only just over 8 pounds. So you should be in line for two records.
Hi there, thank you, that would be interesting to see. Most people use the Portsmouth one. The records are all online on the West wight angling clubs website. It hasn't been updated yet with mine. The bullhuss from shore was held since 1960 something, I'll have a look again now. 🤔😊😊🎣🎣🎣
What an awesome session, we’ll worth the effort to get down there, we’ll done in not 1 but 2 pb fish, look forward to the next video mate tight lines🎣🎣🎣
Thanks is buddy, glad you are enjoying. Got me in the record books that one. The old record was from the 60's, so I'm hoping I'll be able to show the grand kids that one👍🎣🎣
Well done mate cracking fishing. Record or no record it’s a fish of a life time and you done the right thing in my opinion releasing the fish and not killing it just to get a record.
Cheers Dan, yeah I'll remember that one for sure. I didn't realise how good it was at the time. But unless I'm going to eat it, I won't be taking a fish just to weigh it. 👍👍
Martin bud, that huss was a brute. I've never seen anything like it. It's head was pure muscle. Shame the torch didn't pick up the teeth. They were massive👍👍
You did mate, on the last video your comment was pbs are coming. Thanks buddy. Can't wait to try and get out with the gang again. Warm up for Solent wars. 👍👍👍
hi dylan you ok mate. enjoyed the vid as use. wow what a session and two cracking fish. that huss was a beast of a fish well done . All the best from grimsby north east.
Ah mate, it's probably the same fish. goes to show they are out there. I've never had any luck at atherfield. I should give it another go soon. I always seem to lose so much gear down there👍👍👍
Wow, what a session Dylan, it was coming you was due a result. That Bull Huss was massive, couldn't believe how big it was. Well done mate, it always comes good in the end. Regards Andy 🎣👍
Thank you, it did stand. It's not been updated online yet, but I had confirmation that it would stand. I had my scales checked, and because I had the footage, and a witness, I'll now have the record. Super happy. Thanks for the support 👍👍
Wow what a session, monster of a bull Huss and great you’ve broken your ray duck. Be careful with the swell down there,it can throw up the odd rogue wave 😲🎣🐟
Thanks kev, you were right mate, and no wonder that's your favourite beach. It's amazing down there. I would say you definitely need to have your wits about you. I think a bigger tide and swell would be super scary. I hope you're doing ok buddy👍👍
Greetings from BC western Canada, Congrats on your IOW record breaker, my best bull Huss was 8lb 8ozs off Littlehampton back in the late 70s from trawler Arun Venturer……..good on ya for catch & releasing that beaut
Great session two beautiful fish. I sincerely hope that's the new iow record it was witnessed by Ross and I'm sure you're not going to cheat, so that record stands in my book. Well done thanks for all the rest of your videos.
We'll see how it goes, I've offered my scales up so they can check the calibration, just super happy to get them. I think it'll be a while til I beat the Ray, and I'm pretty sure I'll never get a better huss, I just wish I knew how good it was at the time. The old record has been held since 1965😳
New to the channel Dylan. They were two cracking fish mate. That huss was outstanding from the beach and a 9lb 9oz small eyed is also a specimen. Hope they let you claim the huss as an island record👍
Hey mate, thanks for stopping by. I hope you enjoy the uploads buddy. I upload everything, so there isn't always fish, but I hope the content is still entertaining. They were my two best fish by a long way, and to get both in one session, I felt very privileged. Going to be hard to beat for sure. I'm hoping I might get the record, at the moment I have to drop in my scales to check for calibration, so we will wait and see. Cheers mate👍👍
hi Dylan fantastic trip , superb fish. just started to watch your channel , really enjoying it, please keep it up as its great to have the islands fishing being shown so well . I have been fishing chale for over 30 years, back in my day it was relativly easy to get down on steps, the winter storms stopped that. My doggy hip now stops any thought of getting down there, so was great to see it on your film One thing i learnt from fishing chale, the good days are AMAZING but you have to go through a learning curve to work out when those days will happen. Also when you have a big tide on a big moon or better still first sliver of a new moon, go light and cast second\ third wave back with a big fresh bait, maybe a pout or mackeral I have had very big bass, pollock and even brill doing this, but hold your rod!!! realy look forward to your future chale films as i suspect you will be a regular visitor.
Hi Tony, thanks mate. That's very kind of you, and thanks very much for the info. It is an amazing spot to fish. I will definitely be going back, but also i don't want to over fish the same venue. Will probably leave it for a bit, maybe head there again next month. Thats for you support mate👍👍🙏
Thanks mate, I think the steps washed away quite a while ago. It's my first visit there. I've looked before, but bottled it. Apparently there was a bit of a fall there the other day, so I'm not sure what access is like now 👍👍
Fish of a life time mate. Well deserved. I've had some of my best nights down chale. Way down takes some getting used to it's definitely better when it's damp 👍
Firstly, what a great intro to this epic video !! Well mate we’ve said for awhile it’s only a matter of time . And your time came 👍🏼 totally made up for you dude , was a real pleasure to watch . 👍🏼👍🏼🎣
Thanks so much mate, and thanks for drinking with me. It's credit to you guys really. I try to take it all in, but sometimes I forget, or pick up bad habits. Helps being in the right place at the right time too😂😂. So happy. Not really that fussed about the record. Would be nice obviously, just so happy to get into a couple of good fish. Take care buddy 👍👍🙏
Amazing stuff mate!! Well done and we’ll deserved!! Clearly been rewarded for putting the hours in, and having a break from it too!! And the changes you made to the rigs well and truly paid off!! ✌️😎
Just look how far you've come in what a couple of years. Well done on your first Ray, then another congratulation on the Bull Huss (lets hope they give you the rod caught record you deserve it). So glad you put back such a magnificent fish rather than kill it. Great entertainment well filmed a pleasure to watch.
Thanks David, and a lot of it is credit to you guys to be honest. All the hints and tips. We got into a couple of good fish, bit of luck in sure. Glad you enjoyed👍👍🙏
Two cracking fish there Dylan, well done!! I know that you've been wanting a Ray for ages and your efforts have now paid off! That Bull Huss was huge, hopefully the record will stand, what a beautiful looking fish, I love them. Dream session there bud, very pleased for you...I'm assuming you'll be fishing that mark again ha! See you on the next one 👍👍🙏🙏
Thanks Gareth, it was a dream session, definitely one to remember. You end up questioning if it will ever happen, and it finally did. Was so happy. Take care mate👍👍🙏
Cheers dude, I've been meaning to try there for ages, and then when you mentioned it, I thought, that's it, I'm going. So thank you🙏. Have to get yourself down there at some point. It's stunning👍👍👍
Congratulations, what an awesome session, nice size ray, for your first one, for sure, as they say “effort equals reward” Also what a Hugh Bullhuss, hope the record becomes yours, l’ve caught an 8 lb and thought that was big, but yours nearly twice that size, well-well done Keep them coming Go Steady
Thanks Derek buddy. I was totally naive about how big it was to be honest. At the time I was still on a high from getting the ray, so was all a bit much I think😂👍👍
Well pleased for ya great fishing. I recommended that spot to ya on one of your first videos glad you finally got there.so jealous of that Huss. Really hope you get that record 🤞
Hi Dylan, what an epic session. A ray at long last & what a fantastic Huss. Hope it’s recognised as a record for you but if it’s not at least you know that you caught it and you have the video to watch over & over. Also so glad that you released those magnificent fish. Really chuffed for you mate. Regards from East Anglia.
That's it mate, if it does great, if not it's ok. I know it was a fish of a life time, probably not to beaten by myself again, but hopefully it's out there for someone else. Thanks buddy👍👍
Lovely fish mate always check the island records now and again and saw the huss but never realised it was you, cracking mate well done! (2 years late but I’ve only just started watching your channel 😅)
Thanks mate, it's funny when I look back at that video, I had no idea how good a fish it was, and Shaun at wight angling was great, he pushed for the record to stand, so big ups to him on that👍🎣🎣
@@FrugalOutdoors Shaun’s really good with things like that mate 👊🏻 good on him. Tough fish to beat as well so I reckon you’ll have that for a long time.
Andrew buddy, always next time😂😂, this was one of my best sessions and I got the isle of wight record for a bullhuss. You're saying it like I blanked 😂😂😉👍🎣🎣
Cracking bull Huss, in these days of conservation/ protecting animals and our oceans would be very sad if they don’t give you the island record. If they don’t because you never killed it and took to a shop the rules I would say need reviewing. I am over the island end of may looking forward to some fishing. Keep up great work bud
Thanks mate, totally agree with you there buddy, to be fair, I think have have changed the rules in the last few years, but it is still hard to do a catch and release for a record. It's mainly to do with the scales. If I had the salter ones, and they were calibrated by the club, I think it would be fine, I thinks it's the scales that are the sticking point, we'll see how it goes. Hope you enjoy your visit mate👍👍🙏
Hi buddy, there had been some good fishing in sandown area. Few mackerel showing from the pier, which does have a fee to fish I think. I've never fished it to be honest. Popped out on the kayak today from yaverland, picked up a few bream. I think it's notorious for rays around that way. Sorry I can't be of more help. I tend to fish west of the island👍👍
Crackin fish there mate well in.regarding the record not sure if its the same now but to claim it the fish had to be weighed by someone official on proper scales.hope you do get it mate cos with that fish its well deserved.🤞👍👍
Hey buddy, yeah it's more to do with the scales. I've offered mine up, so they can check for calibration. That's what they do for national records. We'll see. Be awesome if I can get it though. Be something to tell the grandkids 😂😂👍👍
What a brace of fish Dylan. Lovely times 👏🎣 When I saw the video I did think it was massive for a shore caught fish. Did you get the island record for it? Well done again 👌❤️
Hey buddy, my first ray that night, and then followed it up with that huge huss. I did get the island record, by around two pounds. I think it was held since 1968 or something like that. A while anyway that's for sure 😀👍🎣🎣
Whatever the outcome you have the record fair and square. We'll done Dylan.i fished chale once only and to this day I've not beat it a 12lb blonde ray. Does it still have the bit of rope half way down the cliff?
Thanks buddy. It's a stunning place to fish. It's hard work up and down, no doubt about it, but it's a wild place. Good work on a blonde ray, I know a few people who've been fishing for a while and not had one. There is a rope, I wouldn't put all my weight on it though. But there is a rope 😂😂
Thank you, parking is easy at whale chine, but access is difficult. There is rope etc to aid getting down, but it's far worse this year than when I filmed that session. Traveling light is a must, and preferably go with someone else. it's super sketchy and one slip is a trip to a and e at best👍👍🎣🎣
It felt similar the way it came in. The ray felt way heavier, but the Huss, was giving some good head shakes. Not as much as that conger I had. It's interesting how they all feel different, and I have no idea what each one is😂😂😂
Hi mate, unfortunately I'm not on Facebook, but if it's rigs you're after, there's a link through my RUclips page, or just go direct to frugal outdoors on Google search, should take you straight to the shop mate. 👍🎣🎣
yes mate it finally happened =) amazing mate well done and thats a hell of a huss from the shore ,chuffed to bits for you mate it shouldnt be backwards on the island in wales it just needs a witness and send the scales off for calibration and thats it never have to kill a fish , im still shocked clubs on the island allow dead fish to be brought back to the scales for the sake of a prize or points lol and the same people moan the fishings shite . should just give people color cards to put alongside the fish and a video on the scales and catch and release ,no need for it this day and age
Thanks mate, and totally agree with you there. It's shocking really, fish all night, then take your fish to the scales at the end of the night, in a different location. Really doesn't make sense to me at all. 👍👍
I don't, but I can imagine, it was a real lump. I spoke to someone the other day, and he said he could tell in the video, I didn't realise how good a fish it was. Definitely got lucky that day👍👍
Hey buddy, looks like you accidentally put caps lock on there mate. Not exactly sure what you are getting at, but the fish was out for minimal time and was in a large bucket of water to revive before putting back. I always try to do the best for the fish, unless I'm taking it for food, and then ill dispatch it as humanely as possible. Not leave it flapping around on the beach. Thanks for the comment👍👍
@@FrugalOutdoors to many bfish starved of oxygen i know roughly when im begining to faint due to holding my breath a fish gasping that long surely some swim off with Brain Damage.
@@eddieblack3058 I completely understand what you are saying. Also I know that showing the fish to the camera is prolonging it's time out if the water. I don't know for certain, but I have been lead to believe that rays and spotted Dogfish can be out of the water some time. I know some comps, will only weigh in at the end of the night after fishing for some ours. I don't agree or condone that practice. I do try my up most to give the fish that I put back the greatest respect. As I've said before I do eat dog fish, bass, bream, pouting and whiting. Also crabs that we forage, but I want to say, and I have done only once before. I and my family don't eat meat. We are predominantly vegetarians. Unless I catch fish. I do hope this will maybe see where I am with the preservation of fishing. I fish to eat. But admittedly I have targeted fish solely based on the fact I haven't had one before. I get that that could be perceived as not cool, and it is something I think about. Please be assured I do respect the fish 👍
I'm not the biggest caster at all. I maybe was getting 80ish yards in this video, but now I reckon 100 to 120, with different rods. Or did you bad, in which case, quite bad😂😂👍🎣🎣
Fish of a lifetime that Huss absolutely huge . I respect your thoughts on not regretting killing it for weight conformation . Cheers for the great content 👍🏼
Thanks mate, I was really chuffed, more so afterwards when I realised how big it was. I was still buzzing from getting my first ray😎🎣👍👍

And the changes you made to the rigs well and truly paid off!! ✌️😎
Awesome words buddy, thank you👍🙏
Just look how far you've come in what a couple of years.
Congrats Dylan, about time too. Well pleased for you mate.
Cheers Martin mate, really appreciate that. Had to happen eventually, just never expected it to be so good👍😊
Two cracking fish there Dylan, well done!!
Well done! Cracking session 👍 I'm not jealous at all🤦♂️😂😭
Cheers dude, I've been meaning to try there for ages, and then when you mentioned it, I thought, that's it, I'm going. So thank you🙏. Have to get yourself down there at some point. It's stunning👍👍👍
had a blast from the past the other day. went with wiseman for a catch up with Mr phill Lilly
Ah cool man, hope that are all good👍👍
Well done mate you deserve a great session and you had it
Thanks RJ, what an amazing venue, super happy to get it all on camera👍👍👍
Congratulations, what an awesome session, nice size ray, for your first one, for sure, as they say “effort equals reward”
Also what a Hugh Bullhuss, hope the record becomes yours, l’ve caught an 8 lb and thought that was big, but yours nearly twice that size, well-well done
Keep them coming
Go Steady
Thanks Derek buddy. I was totally naive about how big it was to be honest. At the time I was still on a high from getting the ray, so was all a bit much I think😂👍👍
Well pleased for ya great fishing. I recommended that spot to ya on one of your first videos glad you finally got there.so jealous of that Huss. Really hope you get that record 🤞
Hey man, Well you were bang on, first visit, best fish I've had, I know it won't always be like that, its so wild down there. thanks buddy👍👍
Really hope that record stands for you mate can defiantly tell that’s a 14lb fish great work dude what a session
Let's hope so buddy. Would be a huge privilege to get my name in the record books👍👍
Well done Dylan
Thanks buddy, 👍👍
However it turns out, fish of a lifetime, well done
Thanks Graham, that's it mate. It's not that important to be honest. Just a privilege to get it👍👍
Dude cracking job bro amazing
Whoop. Good couple of fish there man. Was so stoked. Right place right time, but I'll take it😄👍👍
What a result and well done . I hope it counts
Thanks mate, was so chuffed to finally get a Ray. How did you get on the other day on the Mullet 👍
@@FrugalOutdoors no good on the mullet but I did see a few but they were not interested in the bait .
As you said there’s all ways next time ,still an enjoyable video
Andrew buddy, always next time😂😂, this was one of my best sessions and I got the isle of wight record for a bullhuss. You're saying it like I blanked 😂😂😉👍🎣🎣
All I can say is SHITHOT BUDDY! well done there 2 pb's in one so happy for you, and yes hope you get that record buddy, stay safe stay well
Cheers mate. Pretty hammy to get them on one night, gonna take some beating I reckon, but we'll keep trying 👍👍
Nice one mate
Thanks buddy. Much appreciated 👍👍
I'm coming over to the island Saturday going to lake any tips on were to fish
@@FrugalOutdoors indeed mate be nice to beat a record that has stood for 57 yrs ay.
@@FrugalOutdoors Well done chap….That’s brilliant 👏❤️🎣
Whatever the outcome you have the record fair and square. We'll done Dylan.i fished chale once only and to this day I've not beat it a 12lb blonde ray. Does it still have the bit of rope half way down the cliff?
Thanks buddy. It's a stunning place to fish. It's hard work up and down, no doubt about it, but it's a wild place. Good work on a blonde ray, I know a few people who've been fishing for a while and not had one. There is a rope, I wouldn't put all my weight on it though. But there is a rope 😂😂
Nice fish Dylan dont know why I wasn't subbed bro was wondering were u was great to have u bk brother
Ah cool man, thanks for stopping by, appreciate it buddy👍👍
@@FrugalOutdoors no problem bud glad to have u bk dont know how that happend like but its rectified now appy dayz
Hi Dylan is parking ok at whale chine and is it reasonably easy to get down? And by the way, well done for your two amazing catches tight lines. Vic
Thanks for advice tight lines can't wait for next video 🎣
I wouldn’t be surprised if the fish you lost was the/another Huss, they have a habit of spitting the bait 🤦♂️🎣🐟
It felt similar the way it came in. The ray felt way heavier, but the Huss, was giving some good head shakes. Not as much as that conger I had. It's interesting how they all feel different, and I have no idea what each one is😂😂😂
Hi ,did your 14lb huss record stand ? Was one hell of a fish ,well in
Thanks buddy, yeah fortunately with all the footage and evidence with a witness etc, they accepted it,so now I have the island record🎉🎉👍🎣🎣
@@FrugalOutdoors thats brilliant ,made up for you 👏 👍 😀
Hi Dillon do you have aFB page as I've tried to find it and keep getting anasin guy lol😂 as I want to buy some rigs
Do you know how long I've been after that huss?
I don't, but I can imagine, it was a real lump. I spoke to someone the other day, and he said he could tell in the video, I didn't realise how good a fish it was. Definitely got lucky that day👍👍
GET THE FISDH IN THE WATER
Hey buddy, looks like you accidentally put caps lock on there mate. Not exactly sure what you are getting at, but the fish was out for minimal time and was in a large bucket of water to revive before putting back. I always try to do the best for the fish, unless I'm taking it for food, and then ill dispatch it as humanely as possible. Not leave it flapping around on the beach. Thanks for the comment👍👍
@@FrugalOutdoors to many bfish starved of oxygen i know roughly when im begining to faint due to holding my breath a fish gasping that long surely some swim off with Brain Damage.
@@FrugalOutdoors your posts are super cool I enjoy your content was educating myself also. I wonder what the time limit is before brain damage?
Gotta hookum to cookum peace salaam
Indeed you have😉thank you and peace to you my friend, salaam🙏
How fad do u çarst
I'm not the biggest caster at all. I maybe was getting 80ish yards in this video, but now I reckon 100 to 120, with different rods. Or did you bad, in which case, quite bad😂😂👍🎣🎣
yer bro to much
Thanks for watching 👍👍
