Her acting really sells this medley. Doing a good job of deliberately bad acting s a very hard skill, but oh man, the way her face goes when she sings "Jamie is gone" and then the little head look to the side. I was fucking dying already.
It concerns me you have a massive amount of gay people just out of view screaming "yas" at you in your home all the time. You should probably move. And if you keep hearing them go to an exorcist or a therapist.
@@lnoths Nope. But I currently am getting weird post mortem videos in my recommended of deceased adults and infants from the Victorian era. It is terrifying. And they are getting more common as I press the "not interested in content" option.

@@fatherterry1017 I mean, if you're a girl, there's "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again," and if you're a guy, there's "Music of the Night." They're both good for showing range and emotion (and also wildly popular, which means producers won't want to hear them so the point is moot).
Even in my first community theatre audition they told me "Don't sing that ("Close Every Door"). Tell me you have something else. Anything else." "Spark of Creation...?" "That's a girl's... never mind. That'll be fine."
I did, but not as the lead. A Christinafied version of Children Of Eden didn't play well for casting Jekyll and Hyde. That was also before I picked songs to suit the show... and my gender. I riff too much and I like singing girl songs.
That transition between Somewhere That's Green and The Wizard And I was fantastic and I appreciate it so much Edit: “Fly, dove, sing, sparrow” I SCREECHED
Dude, I sang "On My Own" for my AMDA audition, and I still got in, AND I'm in my third semester, going into fourth! I just wish I was enough of a leading lady to sing the other songs...
Astral Cosmos Celestial the Third I’m just letting you it is one, whether you see it as one or not. Your original comment just flat out said it’s not a musical theatre song, I’m just letting you know it is. Especially considering Wizard of Oz’s songs are structured like the typical movie musical.
Oh no...it's been done a bajillion times already in auditions, don't you worry ;) but the good thing is that this mostly has been done by children or in the community theatre world. Thank heavens the professionals saw that song for what it would be pretty much immediately and knew never do do it.
She needs to be Cathy, Éponine, Audrey, Elphaba, Jo, Fanny Brice, and Millie. I mean her voice literally gives me chills and she acts all of the parts perfectly! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

i came here from glee😂😂
Honestly yes
OH MA GOOOOOOD
Megan Callahan shut up

This is ridiculously brilliant and so well executed indeed. And yeah, people underestimate how hard it is to do good "bad" acting or singing
I'm sorry, but that transition from defying gravity to gimme gimme was t h e b e s t t h i n g i v e e v e r h e a r d

Alyanna de Guzman I love how clearly you can tell it’s Andy Randy
sounds like Jesse Tyler Ferguson
HER COMEDIC TIMING IS UNREAL I'M SCREAMING
The transition from The Wizard and I to Astonishing is AMAZING
Daniel Stephens One could say it's... astonishing
I'm sorry.
Lieutenant Thalia don't apologize XD It was delightful, delicious and de-lovely
As is the transition from Defying Gravity to Gimme Gimme :) xx
Lieutenant Thalia you took my joke
i’d love to see a guys version with waving through window, corner of the sky, santa fe, being alive, micheal

I feel like Wait for Me and Wait For It are going to join the list at some point

Jamie is over and Jamie is gone
Jamie's decided it's time to move on
Jamie has new dreams he's building upon
(On My Own - Les Mis)
And I know it's only in my mind
That I'm talking to myself and not to him
And although I know that he is blind
Still I say, there's a way for us
(Somewhere That's Green - Little Shop of Horrors)
Far from Skid Row
I dream we'll go
somewhere that's
(The Wizard and I - Wicked)
Unlimited
My future is unlimited
And I've just had a vision
Almost like a prophecy
I know - it sounds truly crazy
And true, the vision's hazy
But I swear, someday there'll be
A celebration throughout Oz
That's all to do with me!
And I'll stand there with the Wizard

(Astonishing - Little Women)
Astonishing
Astonishing
I'll find my way
I'll find it far away
I'll find it in unexpected and unknown
I'll find my life in my own way
Today
Here I go
And there's no turning back
My great adventure has begun
I may be small
But I've got giant plans
To shine as brightly as the sun
(Don't Rain on My Parade - Funny Girl)
Don't bring around a cloud to rain on my parade
I'm gonna live and live now
Get what I want, I know how
One roll for the whole she-bang
One throw, that bell will go clang
Eye on the target and wham
One shot, one gun shot, and bam
Hey, Mister Arnstein, here I am

Care Vano e

Care Vano very useful thanks

Davie-The- Potterhead but she looks so much like Gretchen!
@@cruisindownthestreetinmy6490 that's what wigs and makeup are for ;)
That's Annaleigh Ashford's job now hunny
“Somewhere that’s...” *starts singing as Elphaba instead of singing the word green*
Genius.
The character transitions made me laugh so hard I almost died.
I heard the FIRST FEW NOTES AND SCREAMED GIRL THIS IS TOO REAL
If I hear one more girl sing “She Used to Be Mine” for their IE
Or any female solo song from Les Mis honestly.
Oop, I was gonna do that for my IE but ill see if a lot of different people will do it 😅
She really came for Rachel Berry’s entire career and existence👏
She looks like Meredith Stepien
A year late, but I was thinking the same thing...
I thought that too!
I literally had to check the title of the video lol
I'm pretty sure the audience still hasn't recovered from how unbelievable this performance was! I know I haven't! Holy crap.
Ending with that Defying Gravity note was literal genius.
My gosh this crowd is amazing

Maddy Mensour thank you so much
Ur the best
Thank youuu
I relate to this on a spiritual level
vernii mirnii yes - it flows along our lifetime like an observation from a choir
If there were ever an audition when you could actually sing the whole song this would be amazing
Crash the EPAs. There's never anyone there, they see non-union and you get to sing a whole song
Hilarious, her voice is great too
I heard that first note from The Last Five Years and I was ready.
*rachel berry left the group chat*
I'm suprised there was no Phantom in there
tbh i think phantom just scares people away because the opera-esque technique needs to be 1000% perfect to sound good
phantom doesn’t really have audition songs
There aren’t many shows like Phantom so people don’t use it when auditioning.
Y'all don't know the Yeston version, me thinks This Place is Mine (I shouldn't share that) is in my book
@@fatherterry1017 I mean, if you're a girl, there's "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again," and if you're a guy, there's "Music of the Night." They're both good for showing range and emotion (and also wildly popular, which means producers won't want to hear them so the point is moot).
this is actually my new favorite thing omigod
what a belt! And a very clever medley. Great job Melanie!
She is the exact picture of Hermione Granger that I had in my head when reading the Harry Potter books as a child!
who else feels personally attacked by this
🙋🏻♀️
This is literally the most amazing thing I have ever seen oh my goodness
This is everything.
oops I've sung all of these at auditions before.
Yeah in the professional world the directors would shake their heads
Sara-Grace Kelly I've sang astonishing for a pageant and a solo performance lol it's like my go to wow song haha
Even in my first community theatre audition they told me "Don't sing that ("Close Every Door"). Tell me you have something else. Anything else."
"Spark of Creation...?"
"That's a girl's... never mind. That'll be fine."

I did, but not as the lead. A Christinafied version of Children Of Eden didn't play well for casting Jekyll and Hyde. That was also before I picked songs to suit the show... and my gender.

the songs all connect so perfectly
This is love, this is life.
THE LITTLE PARTS WHERE SHE SAID THE WORDS ARE AMAZING LIKE I KNOW SO MANY PEOPLE THAT DO THAT THIS IS AMAZING
CAN I LIKE THIS MORE THAN ONCE PLEASE
it's been a year and i'm still obsessed
Hilarious and spot on - the transitions are hilarious and amazing!
SHE KILLED ALL OF THEM
This girl is absolutely lovely and adorable!
That transition between Somewhere That's Green and The Wizard And I was fantastic and I appreciate it so much
Edit: “Fly, dove, sing, sparrow”
I SCREECHED
There needs to be a new list including songs from Hamilton, Dear Evan Hansen, BMC, and Heather's and so much more.
I cannot believe this video is 10 years old and RUclips has decided to remind me of it today! Thanks RUclips!
omg the last transition. this woman deserves an applause
Dude, I sang "On My Own" for my AMDA audition, and I still got in, AND I'm in my third semester, going into fourth!
I just wish I was enough of a leading lady to sing the other songs...
Bravo!
My new favourite person.
You know you're trash when you know every song in that last that she sang.... I WANNA SING THIS NOW
The Pathetic Coffee Addict I mean...we're theatre kids....
yeah I think we're SUPPOSED to know all of them
I've watched this video a million times, and the transition between "The Wizard and I" and "Astonishing" gets me every time
if grav3yardgirl did Broadway haha
I'm quite surprised that they didn't do tomorrow from Annie but she did amazing regardless.
The transition at 4:02 is so perfect
This has been coming up on my recommendation list every few months for years and I’m v shocked it doesn’t have at least 1 mil views!
Melanie is brilliant!
I wish I could find more with her singing. ...... this is Amazing ... it has been quite a number of years.. !!!
I love how when she started singing Somewhere That's Green, this one man just said YES hahahah
THIS IS SO TRUE LMAO I LOVE THIS SM! AMAZING

Wow she's amazing!!!!!!
I CANT WITH THE FIRST SONG. I LOVE THE LAST FIVE YEARS BUT I WASNT READY FOR THAT SONG. IM LITERALLY CRYING. WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?
No Somewhere Over the Rainbow??
AubreyLIW That's not on the "overdone" list...that's on the "borderline blasphemy" list.
Thats not even a musical theatre song...
Astral Cosmos Celestial the Third Technically it is. The Wizard Of Oz has been adapted into a stage musical.
Music In My Mind i dont see it as one though
Astral Cosmos Celestial the Third I’m just letting you it is one, whether you see it as one or not. Your original comment just flat out said it’s not a musical theatre song, I’m just letting you know it is. Especially considering Wizard of Oz’s songs are structured like the typical movie musical.

I looooooove it !
BRILLIANT. I've sent this to so many friends. It's just hilarious BECAUSE IT'S TRUE.
Also, Melanie, you're great!
This is SO spot on.

The defying gravity to gimme gimme transition was SO AWESOME
i still love this video and the guy's gasp when she started singing on my own is still everything
Oml this is art
If I hear one more person do somewhere that's green or popular or defying gravity I will cry
