In order to gain karskin’s approval you need to pick something that
1.) isn’t overly popular or too highly thought of
2.) isn’t assigned in film school (did he mention he went to film school)
3.) conversely, if Karst hasn’t heard of it that’s gonna lose you some points
4.) if your movies don’t relate to eachother, they’re “all over the place”
5.) if your movies relate too much of eachother, you’re “stuck” in the genre or decade they share

Based. Memories Of Murder is probably the best movie of all time (even if Memento is my favourite). Its probably one of the most neutral looks at these flawed characters. Showing the detectives good hearts and determination to keep the city safe while also showing their sins like torturing and abusing suspects and being kind of jackasses. You are able to sympathise and support these good hearted characters while also not being blind to their unethical actions. I also like how it can be funny while not being out of place in this serious movie. Plus the tunnel scene is peak.

All extremely goated picks. Much respect for Nausicaa. Princess Mononoke has been my personal number one ever since I saw it as a kid and probably always will be.
Aliens is great, Alien may be in my top 20. The Thing (1982), however, is probably my top horror film.
And more recently Once Upon a Time in Hollywood has become my go to comfort movie to watch and may have replaced Django Unchained as my fave of his.
There’s so many more I could mention that I’ll just leave it at that. There are a lot of amazing movies out there, and the ones I love most are pretty much always changing aside from a few constant locks. With a top 4-5 to me it’s more interesting as a showcase of variety where each is a unique experience that represents the taste and yours def gives me an understanding that we have common tastes lol.

I mean, when you put it how they don’t watch movies, I can see it make sense. Movies are their work, and maybe after being veterans of the field, you wanna branch out possibly. I can definitely see some of the celebs being cinephiles, but I totally understand some of themselves not wanting to watch movies after so long making them.
