Will forever boggle me that Mattaeu Kassovitz, the bloke who made La Haine, not only was it only his second ever film but he was only 28 when he made it
damn i didn’t know that, what an insightful mind
Orson Welles was 25 when he made Citizen Kane.
@@brendanwisniewski9435 ok
not only that but the rest of his films are shit he just somehow made la haine then fell off
Mysterious Skin effed me up in ways that no other film has to this day. Don't think I could ever sit through it again
yeah.
Something about iron claw was so touching more than most films Ive seen
dude i know i’ve never been so personally hit like that before
@@davianguzman list was fire, check out seven samurai when you get the chance. Don’t let the time throw you off, top 5 for sure
The love I have for La Haine... omg.
I watched the movie not 3 weeks ago and it's one of my all time favourites. I study film and my classmates made a club for watching movies together because we have a small cinema at the school, so after that ending... well I had tears in my eyes and left that room breathless.
such a beauty, saw it in 11th and i knew instantly it was a staple of cinema, researched a bit more to find out it was. amazingly written amazingly depicted
trainspotting was genuinely a masterpiece
genuinely a dime of its time
playing alex g while talking about my fav movies??? new fav content creator
i physically smiled THANKS
Banger movie taste, banger music taste
banger wesleymclean7070
not only great film picks but the background music is ethereal i love ur music taste
THANK YOUU
Bro the Joyce Manor at the end made me tear up. I just found your channel and fuck man, just keep up the good work. Shit bro this hit hard for me. Thank you so much, now I’ve got some more movies to watch.
i LOVE to hear that bro, i do it for you, i do it for the people💪🏼 let me know how those films are!
underrated channel man i love the detail you put in the vids
BIG THANKS! i’m glad someone noticed🙏🏻😭
I appreciate you putting this list out. There’s a whole world of film out there worth exploring. 400 Blows is a film with a young male
Protagonist you might be interested in. It’s of another era and French. Been on the best films of all time list for years.
i’ll be sure to check it out!
just found your channel and i love this video and its simple structure. when i saw the iron claw mentioned wow !! finally some recognition.
YEAHHHH I LOVE THE IRON CLAW
Mysterious Skin is one of the best movies I’ve seen, so is Perks of Being a Wallflower. Such heartbreaking and thought provoking films, great list!
THANK YOU! i love these so much 🙏🏻
Am REALLY digging the Elliot Smith in the beginning. Also great picks man!❤
THANK YOUU
Great video and list! Loved the music choices too.
thank you sm!
Great video man, thanks for sharing them and your story
hey thanks cinemaghost3149
I remember in high school I loved Mysterious Skin. For some reason I loved all those dark, depressing movies with heavy subject matter (not anymore). I wanted my friend to see it, and while we watched it, she kept trying to talk and ignore the movie and I got frustrated, but it turns out she was a victim of childhood sexual abuse and that's why she was trying to distract herself from the movie and not pay attention to it. I didn't know at the time of course so when I found out I felt like total shit.... but now I know to give trigger warnings like you did.
yeahhhh LOL, its okay we live and we learn, where would we be if we didn’t yk
just found this video in my recommended, love this list. so happy to see the iron claw on here! it's in my top 4 on letterboxd as well! i think you'd enjoy Shithouse (2020), it is a little slow, but it's funny and charming and lonely and relatable and taps into the feels!
Iron claw was so fucking amazing i remember watching it and crying so much i definitely connect to it just like you. great list :)
THANK YOU, great taste twins
You inspire me to chase my dreams 🥺
I knew I was going to like this video as soon as I heard speed trials at the beginning of the video.

insanely based 🗣️ more than half of these are among my top as well and the others were already on my watch list and this just makes me wanna watch them more!
amazing to hear, GIVE EM A WATCH NOWWW
liked instantly when i saw requiem for a dream
ideal reaction to rfad
Nice, love the vid and the channel!
thanks dude! means more than you’d imagine!
Your top movies list, tells a lot about you.
thank you i appreciate that
I'm late as hell, but damn let this man cook when it comes to movies FOREAL
These are all amazing picks, we have similar taste
Huge fan of this list some of my favourite films ever on here - the likes of Fantastic Mr Fox, ...Wallflower, and Trainspotting. I highty reccomend, if you havent already seen, watching Jerrod Carmichael's film 'On the count of three' and Kenneth Lonergan's 'Manchester-by-the-sea' - two hugely impactful films for me personally and hope other people can find these films too
i’ve seen Manchester by the sea! i thoroughly enjoyed the realism in Kenneth’s portrayal of loss and grief! i think i gave it a 4.5/5, i also have on the count of three on my watchlist but haven’t got around to it yet
One of the most depressing lists I've ever seen. Great video
DEPRESSING😭
Great list love all of them films part I haven't seen iron claw yet.
you GOTTA see the iron claw ESPECIALLY if you have brothers
Love the recommendation
Requiem for a dream changed me as a person
we love art.
@@davianguzman yes!!
Wes Anderson and Elliott Smith in the intro ABSOLUTE TASTE
HAHA THANKS
La Haine is so good
nice list! based on that, I recommend you to check Secrets & Lies (1996)
Check out SLC Punk! Its vibe is similar to Trainspotting, but I love it even more, personally. It's existential, the funny parts hit hard, and so do the dramatic ones.
i love slc punk! it’s the first film i talk about in my best comedies video!
Bro has never heard of a comma
commas hear of me🗣️‼️
@@davianguzman Fair Enough 😅
i heard nine inch nails, i liked. also i recommend the graduate
Definitely a decent top 5. I always struggle with that rating, because what does a movie have to do make me think that I couldn't love it more? My own 5-star list is a lot more basic, with Citizen Kane, Brief Encounter, It's A Wonderful Life, and 2001, just to name a few examples, being on there. "Stop Making Sense" and "Babylon" are the only films that I've given 5 stars that aren't on the Letterboxd top 250.
these are all great picks basic or not, i think we need to do away with categorizing things as “basic” or “unique” and just enjoy stuff. anyways, great list man!
@@davianguzman I absolutely agree, one should only rate films for their own pleasure and be perfectly honest with themselves about how much they like or dislike a movie.
@@magnus75damkier PREACH🗣️
Brick and moonrise kingdom often get overshadowed by their respective directors other more renowned works. Good choice there homie!
brick > knives out and moonrise kingdom > the grand budapest hotel
Requiem For A Dream is just beautifully brutal. My favorite film of all time (so far)
you clearly haven’t seen The Room starring Tommy Wiseau
@@davianguzman You right, I haven’t, never even heard of it. So I looked it up on IMDB and it gets a 0.9/10 from the critics and the users rate it like a 3 overall but it has a surprising amount of 10/10 ratings. Idk if I wanna dare to watch it lmao
@@oRizho oh no it’s a joke it’s like renowned as one of the worst films of all time LMFAO don’t watch The Room starring Tommy Wiseau
@@oRizho requiem for a dream is incredibly brilliant and is a very respectable favorite film oat
@@davianguzman lmao, yea I just saw that The Disaster Artist is about him and that movie 😂 I’m not watching it lol. And I go back and forth between Requiem and Donnie Darko for my favorite film.
Also I watched Brick yesterday and absolutely loved it! Had it on my list already but this video made me put it at the top of the list. It’s in my top 50
really good video and nice music but can u make a list of the songs used in the vid would appreciate it
hey bud, good list but i'd really encourage you to watch more foreign and old movies and i mean real old movies stuff by ozu, tarkovsky or bresson. You also seem to have a thing for bildungsroman so maybe check out some stuff like 'a brighter summer day', 'city of god', or the apu triology.
yeah ive been meaning to make my way towards old films and directors but i’m still watching the classics !
I watched requim for a dream and I am traumatized now, thanks😭
LMFAO, glad you used the recommendation!😭
Have you seen Strange Days? Many people said it's an underrated masterpiece and im glad it's gaining a cult following because the movie deserves it.
i have not seen strange days, i will be adding this to my watchlist thank you shah🤝🏻
Next one up !!!!

Im definitely gonna check out Mysterious Skin, I saw the trailer on youtube and I really related to what im guessing happens to the boys... :(
i would say be weary of the film for sure then, might invoke some memories or something like that, take care.
@@davianguzman ty, I’m sure I’ll be fine, relating to film can help heal the trauma :)
Love the Elliot smith ‼️
love elliott smith so much.
love mysterious skin but i can never watch it again omg
i don’t think i would’ve been able to sit thru it had anything like that happened to me when i was younger
Have a nice day 😊❤
thanks sgtpeppers2003, u too
You don't need to explain once upon a time in Hollywood. It's one of the best all time
I suggest getting the 4k steel book
i’ll hold my tongue 😈
Great video man. Great to see some love for trainspotting as it also one of my favorites. Followed on letterboxd and a new sub
THANKS, i love trainspotting i literally have a tshirt and a poster LOL

wait that’s sick WHAT
@@davianguzman well it’s more on my forearm not wrist but yeah, trainspottings my favourite movie of all time

OMG OMG OMG! I have watched this video on RUclips with G SMOKE 🐐🚬0⃣3⃣😜 and Black Peter Griffin and it was awesome! I love Perks of Being a Wallflower, Fantastic Mr. Fox and Mysterious Skin (in which me and G Smoke are planning to watch)! i knew that weed was laced
ok you like dramas 😅
bro thinks he is eminem
i’m literally eminem, i think next video i should sound like doodlebob
You should watch eternal sunshine of the spotless mind if you haven’t
i’ve seen it! it’s pretty good but unfortunately not a 5 star for me
The only film I’ve seen form this list is the perks of being a wallflower lol I tried watching once upon a time in Hollywood but I ‘got bored’ after just a couple of minutes, like I probably didn’t get through the first scene haha.
yeahh it’s definitely a long one but its SUPER entertaining and funny
Have you watched the eternal sunshine of the spotless mind???
If not please do
i HAVE seen this! it’s pretty good but by no means in my opinion is it a 5 star, or even 4.5 star, rated film. i give it 4 stars
@@davianguzman It means a lot to me personally lol but I respect you opinion :)

Hey man, nice video, I'd just advice you to speak a little slower in your videos, sometimes it felt hard to understand what you were saying and rushed
i know😭there’s like 10 other comments about it I APOLOGIZE LOL, it gets better in my recent vids
Wallflower is a such a worthless, dogshit movie. Just wish fulfilment nonsense from someone who was blatantly a loser in school and wishes they could go back, so makes the character blameless of any and all faults, and somehow capable of fighting well, with his silence irresistible to the attractive “outcast” kids, it’s so laughably pathetic
whyre you so full of RAGE LMFAO? i honestly just appreciated it as like the feeling of wishing you could go back. we know our main character isn’t an entirely good person but who is tbh? i will admit the fighting caught me off guard but hey, creative liberty yk. also being a “loser” isn’t a bad thing at all, most “losers” are depressed and can’t do anything because of that. you could argue “mind over matter” or the cringe term “man up” but not everyone is raised the same way. anyways, thanks for your comment i love peoples opinions!
Like it could be a dogshit movie if they didn’t add as much backstory and if the characters weren’t so fleshed out. But there is literally no way this movie is bad in any way and it sounds like you hate it because you think it’s unrealistic and for “losers” in highschool.
lower the tempo in your voice, too rushed and shows your nervous
i wasn’t nervous but i was talking super fast LOL, i talk slower in my new vid
thanks for da feedback🙏🏻

Oh you’re one of those pretentious guys who only has 12 5stars instead of rating movies based on the environment and viewing experience as well as the film itself.
LMFAO, no i just rate based on my experience with the movie in all, all of its ideas and production and unique beauty
@@davianguzman I know I was just being a stickler 😂
Bro, your pics are on point but ease off the Addies, you talk way to damn fast!! No idea what ur saying!

@@davianguzman lmao, of course not, nice list, love all of them myself)
hey man you really need to slow down and annunciate you’re words. this seems like a really interesting video but i had to pause at 3 min to comment bc at times it genuinely seems like you’re speaking old english or you have such a thick, cockney accent your words are incoherent at times
also stop reading off a script start telling us what you have written down does that make sense ? it’s like you’re trying so hard to get through what you have written down you’re forgetting you’re just supposed to be talking with the audience.
BRO EVERYONES ON ME ABOUT THIS LMFAO, it’s my first vid of this kind and it was really just me experimenting finding my style and way, the comedy vid i uploaded is a lot more slowly spoken🙏🏻
