Walmart is targeted towards the lower income population like myself. Irvine not exactly lower income. The Walmart’s by my area is still usually packed.
@Guadalu pano your right and wrong. It is about the 4 dollars an hour. you give California a inch they take a mile. They have to Get out why they can. Soon Walmart will be beholden to the state. With new laws, fees and regulations. California is going to be a whole lot different in ten years.
Why not close the San Clemente one, their community seems to be too “wealthy” to shop there. Instead they rather shop at Target which has the same quality of commodities for slightly higher prices.
Why is a Walmart closing in Orange County a news story on a major network in LA? So many important OC stories that never get covered. Local people say it was due to a rent hike, not underperformance.
The Foothill store sucks, and the Heather Ridge store is probably too far away with stoplights and traffic. This Irvine store was more centrally located in S.County, which made it ideal. It was just a better store, too. It's actually closing because the Irvine Co raised the rent, per usual.
I hope this one Walmart near me doesn’t closed. The store was so busy and even try to find a good parking space. I have been going to this store since early 90’s.
I actually went to Walmart supercenter today in my City I love shopping there it’s Very convenient ... I don’t see how this store is closing down California is A busy place 🙄 and yeah please don’t blame it on the pandemic ....lol
Walmart needs to shut down.. their worried about money.. Walmart?? Let’s pack more people into the other Walmart’s during the pandemic, great. Let me just say I shop at my local Walmart.. most people I know shop at Walmart frequently. I love the people there, they are amazing. Some extra kindness to employees and communities from the company would really help right now.
More like the cost of rent for businesses or anything in CA is sky high forcing closures. Businesses will simply move to states with affordable rent to increase profits simple as that, the major firms will simple scale back that's all that's happening here. Its a busy store, but you can only be so busy when the property rent is ridiculously high priced cutting into all your profits.
I used to go local target n wmart on Friday night's on way home from work. Figured get shopping done as was already out anyway. Now that have to wear mask n all, well it just not pleasant anymore. It was fun while lasted because these places have a shadow of the variety malls used to have.
This location was perfect in the beginning but not sure why many didn't take advantage of it. Lots of items target doesn't carry, the reasons why I go. There's also a Costco about a block away
@@lisalee2885 I used to have a Costco card but it was pointless to have when I don't use that much to begin with. But that's good that others use theirs

This is not good for the future. Before changes like this took a longer transition period so people could adapt. Technology is moving at such a fast pace that it’s leaving a lot of folks behind to fend for themselves. In the past where someone could make a comfortable living with hard work and still afford a house, car and family; will be harder to attain unless you keep up with technological advancements and societal changes. It went from manufacturing to retail, now it’s work from home. Cities like Detroit died because motor city jobs left too fast for folks to cope with the vacuum. Very sad to see retail being the next victim.
Last time I went to Wal-Mart for a pc mouse, they had them locked up, 15 minutes and asking for associates twice I left without one, spent one minute on Amazon and got it next day, THAT'S how walmart will die, poor customer service.
So how many more underperforming places are gonna close and blame it on covid anytime soon? basically workers transfer or just get layoffs and try look for new job any.

The Costco in the same shopping center is busy as ever but yeah let's blame the closer on COVID.
Costco is different than Wal-mart.
Wal-mart relies on many departments churning revenue while Costco is mainly bulk groceries.
They are always busy

Another Walmart less than 5 miles away in Foothill Ranch....

People are SUFFERING😥😥😥 Hello...anyone in congress care!!!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Probably the city requiring $5 hazard pay increase to employees
Nope. Irvine is not like Long Beach. I doubt that city would implement the hazard pay...
You have to be kidding me. Every time I go there’s always a lot of people especially during the daytime.
Wonder if Plumbing Problems will keep it empty - for now.
Lmao I forgot about that smh
Whenever I go to this Walmart I still see plenty shoppers. Not sure what's underperforming about it.
Next time you go in look around, up & down & ALL around. They're prepping these closing stores for FEMA camps.
No joke
Good Riddance! BE AMERICAN BUY AMERICAN! COSTCO 💯🇺🇸
Yea cuz we can buy bulk and share the food to make it easier 😃👍😃👍

Very VERY happy Calabasas and Westlake Village DON’T ALLOW Wal-Mart in their cities.
Ultimately, when it’s time to play hardball the mega corporations win and employees are out of a job.

Irvine is rich
Walmart has not been busy like it used to be for years In Orlando
No Walmart under perform something is going on
I didn't realize Walmarts could actually close. what do you replace a walmart with? maybe a landfill or do we build an airport over it?
They can replace it with most things, really. I guess they can divide that building with something else.
