I hit just about every club that I could get my hands on, and I fell in love with these. A Combo of the ZU85's and Z585's went on sale for $600 and I jumped on them. I wasn't sold on the utility clubs, but they are pretty fantastic. The Z585's are the best feeling golf club in their segment, and they are the best sporting goods purchase I have ever made. The "Art Deco" styling is a bit strange, but I can look past the looks after hitting them. If you are looking for a value on an older model, you should give them a look.
Nice review sir. I own this set and love them. Beautiful looking, forgiving, and lots of distance. Spin is a bit low but the trajectory is high. I switched balls to increase spin. Keep up the great reviews.
I went back and forth between those two at a fitting yesterday (919 Forged). I went with the Srixon. Dispersion and distance on good hits was tighter. Distance loss on misshits (my misshit is low on the face) was less. The feel on well struck shots was better on the Mizuno, but the numbers made it an easy decision for me. Can't wait to get them in.
Great review... I play the Srixon Zforged... but have just combined the z585 5 and 6 iron along with the z785 7-9 with a 46 degree Cleveland rtx4 wedge... in tournament play I have found having the help in these clubs in pressure situations makes a big difference down the stretch... the 585 and 785 when u look down at the ball with tourney on the line it’s nice to have “help” instead of looking down at a butter knife... I mean Shane Lowry Plays a 585 785 combo and he’s the Open champ... only makes since lol. Cheers and Merry Christmas Wes
Hi Mike I have been looking at some new irons I tried these at at Srixon fitting event I tried both irons the 585 came out on top & the best shaft for my swing came out as graphite the Mahayana in a stiff flex.
I've been in the market for a new set of higher end game improvement irons myself. Thus far, The ones that appeal to me the most are the Ping G410... Titleist AP1...And these Srixons. They LOOK BEAUTIFUL!! But I haven't been able to find a dealer around me. I would like to at least be able to see feel and swing them before making a decision.
@@jimbigboystoys4077 I'm from Rochester we have a bunch of places with the srixons and some really great fitters to if your willing to make the 1 and a half drive
mike S Thank you Mike. I actually found the clubs at the Golf Galaxy in Dewitt just outside of Syracuse. They too have a fitting technician on site as well. I was able to hit all three different clubs that I was interested in. I'll be honest with you…The "Ping" G410s we're the ones that I liked the best. Where is your location? If I happen to be in the neighborhood one of these days I'll swing in.
@@jimbigboystoys4077 I live right in rochester in the Greece suburb and I like the pings I cant afford new clubs I'm still playing my tour edge but I prolly would get the mizuno jpx hot metal the srixons or the pings depending on my fitting we have a ton of courses here I want to play at turning stone in Verona heard the courses are amazing
Great vid mate I love Srixon they are great irons I was looking to get the new ping i500 I would love to now what you think about the two of them and maybe a head to head vid thanks
Todd Hawkinson currently off 9.3. My last irons was a full set of 765 with the modus 120 stiff. Great clubs but the shaft was too strong for me. Cheers
I used a demo 7 iron Z585 at the range with an NS Modus 105 stiff shaft VS. my current club that has a True Temper XP 105 stiff. I was expecting great things from the Srixon, but was disappointed. My current club (a Maltby TE4 Tour) was averaging 4 yards more carry even though it has 34* loft and the Srixon has 31*. My Maltby also felt smoother and had less vibration (and it is a cast head) had a slightly higher ball flight and more carry. Carry distances were measured using my Swing Caddie 200. In case you are interested, Maltby is a component company that is sold through Golf Works, but they will also assemble clubs for you. You can have just about any shaft you want. Srixon looks better, but I buy on performance not good looks.
I think if they were a 2 or 3 degrees weaker lofts they'd be perfect for a mid to high handicap golfer more spin with more hight and they'd still have pretty good distance with very good forgiveness .
I have the z565 and love them. It seems that the 585 is a relatively small tweak and probably not worth the upgrade. I like the look and feel of the srixons so have not been encouraged by other makes perhaps except the Callaway apex cf18 - but overall still prefer the srixons- did try the cf19s recently. As my game and skills improve and my handicap drops was thinking what I might do and based on what you implied maybe look at the 785 in the 8/9/PW (am left handed so no gw though very happy with my RTX 3 50 degree). Any thoughts?
I love these irons was able to try them at a demo day last month felt good high flying for me got to try the 5,7,and pitching wedge same with the 785 but liked these better. Michael do you notice much of a difference between the 585’s and the 565’s? Always like your thorough reviews thanks.
in the market for new irons. Currently playing Apex CF 16 ‘s with Recoil graphite shafts. hit these 585’s and was really impressed. Thinking of waiting for the CF 19’s to come out from Callaway before rendering a decision. never used Srixon’s . any issues with quality? how are then U irons in the 4, 5 or 6 irons?
Srixons really good quality, I’ve never had any issues. The U irons are really forgiving and pretty easy to use compared with other driving irons on the market.

pgastar05 which ball did you switch to?
from Avx to pro v
I game these irons. They look really nice at address for a more game-improvement type iron.
I love these clubs. It's tough to choose between the 585 and the mizuno 919 .

Nice review and clubs. The design reminds me a bit of Mizuno MP53/63s
I have blended the 585 4 to 7 and then 785 8 to P. Had the 585 lofts weakened to match the 785 lofts. Nippon 105 shafts. Great set 😀👍🏌🏼🇦🇺
If I may ask, what is your handicap? I ask because I’m contemplating the same thing, but can’t decide on the break point.

Believe I heard they were waiting until next year to release a new 9xx model.
One of the irons that might end up in my bag. Any chance of this vs 919 Forged comparison?
Yes, can you please to a head to head of the 585 vs the 919 forged? Thanks!
It's on my list guys

for me the 585's a better looking when sat behind the ball

Srixon is the 2nd most underrated golf company to wilson
Great review Michael, I hit my irons well but a23 handicapper, could i go for these! I did try the predecessor and found them easy to use.
