I love my Srixon irons. Got fitted this year for the first time and never would have considered Srixon but they felt great. But watching this and the other videos from TXG helps me know why a lot of people get fitted for these. Loved the explanation of the forged body and why they are designed to be customized along with such a wide assortment of shafts. Great info guys. Love the channel and how you give insight into the business of fitting and club manufacturers.
16:56 amazing understated point! Don't buy clubs in the spring that you'll hate in late summer, because you were too rusty to know that they didn't fit you 100%.
6:27min almost holed it! Still waiting to see Matt hole one on the simulator! Great content on your channel ! And damn Srixon clubs just perform. The only thing that puts me a little of is that I'm a Titleist player for years. It's just personal preference.
Having just restarted my life with golf I felt the need for fresh clubs, started introducing wedges and after much consideration I opted for RTX 4’s, then without realising the connection I opted to order up the Srixon 785’s - can’t wait for them to arrive..
I havent even thought of playing srixon until I watched this channel. I am playing the apex CF16 right now, Nippon pro modus 120. I am a stable iron player with good speed (91mph for 7i). What I do think about, me as a decent iron player with good speed, even tho I am at 10 hcp I don't really think I need the help in form of cupface, speedfoam etc. I dont mind a little help, tungsten etc. but some irons are just over the top filled with tech and I think people with the speed could improve the quality of their iron play by buying a set like these.... aaaaaaaaand I just convinced myself I need a set of Srixon and go full on TXG mode
hi guys great video. i had hit with the srixon 765 few weeks back they do feel amazing n for a forged club n player irons they are forgiving too. its very rare to find a game improvement type iron in 565 that is forged that can be use in the long irons too build a set. i play mizuno mp line which is amazing on feel, work ability but sometimes not has forgiving cause i play not has much as i used too. i am thinking of getting fitted in the new srixon line of irons on my next fit. cheers.
The blending of performance and aesthetics in golf clubs is quite amazing. When an iron was labelled as a game improvement club it usually looked odd and occasionally awful. Not any more. Great time to be a golfer.
Great review! Looking forward to tying these and 585, hopefully they aren’t too much for a 12 handicap. I can’t stand a great amount of offset/game improvement. Handicap isn’t because of my iron striking.
I absolutely love the new Srixon line and will hopefully be investing a new set of the 785 irons for next season. The irons look gorgeous but I think Srixon needs to make their products look slightly more expensive because the woods and hybrids look fairly cheap. That doesn't take away from the performance because they are superb, but I think more golfers would be attracted to Srixon clubs if the woods looked more top end. Still a lover of Srixon products though, and also an excellent review guys 👍
Good looking and performing sticks...might have to see if they can outperform my Wilson V6 Tours. Totally agree the back end of the season is the best time try new gear...A++
I just bought my combo set of 567/765 in may. I hate that these are out now, lol. I do agree work the top line of the 765s. Miss the look of my Bridgestone J40 CB's. Beautiful to look down at. If they go back to classic looking forged sticks, I might go back to Bridgestone.
Srixon irons are the bee's knees. I remember the first day I took my 945s out to the range. I was just chopping at the ball to see how good that V sole is, you can get super steep and make great contact. They love a shallow attack too, its insane. Don't be afraid of the 900 series, with the low COG (and that sole) they are amazingly forgiving.
loved my 965s they had a thin top line but longer heal to toe. i changed only cause i needed a lighter shaft...best blades ive ever owned so easy...they were low spinning for some reason which didnt bother me either..
Looking forward to the Z585 review. They would be a better fit for my game (older and slower these days). I'd also be curious to see if you have comments on their stock graphite shafts -MIYAZAKI KAULA IRON 8 SHAFT (what's shown on their website) or would suggest another graphite for a older/slower swing speed..
I recently purchased a SRIXON combo set where the 7-P are the Z-Forged baldish irons. I was thinking of strengthening the lofts 1-2 degrees. A PGA superstore fitter told me it would change the bounce. I usually only think about bounce related to my wedges and never really thought it played a major role in my irons. Will strengthening the lofts 1-2 degrees drastically change the club?
1-2 degrees won't drastically change the club. Any more than that and you'll start noticeably altering the offset and the bounce will get low enough you'll start digging more into the turf.
Was a Mizuno forged cavity back player for years. Got these last summer with ctaper 130X. Shafts make the clubs for me. These Srixons are just as good or as better as the MP18's or 20's imho.
When you test the 585 and consider it for a blended set can you also consider the u85 for the same? It seems like they are pushing the utility irons for blending as well and I'm curious if they would blend well with the 785's or not. Thanks for the continued great content!
I do find it interesting how they descend from 5 to 4 to 3 degree increments between irons as they get stronger. Seems more common to go from 4 then 3 in longer irons.
Loved 745 did not care for shape on 65 series....actually was shocked when I first picked up a 765.....hopefully they improved on headshape back towards 45 series......clubs aren't gonna be much different but way they look is huge
Just got myself a set! Finally left my Cleveland 588 MB with S300 shafts, move to the z785 kbs tour 130x i really struggled with choosing between c-taper and tour but ended going with tour, my 7 iron was around 122mph 18 deg and spinning at 6800, what do u think!? No much difference with c-taper, I didn’t go with the modus tour x because for some reason i was spraying them with 130 mph and going over 190 yards!!! mmmm no thank you! Lol give me some feedback 😉✨✨⛳️🤙🏼😆 great video!
I will be trying the srixon 85 range next week, focusing on the woods, hybrid and u85. Though may be able to try these too. As someone who games the 565 which I really like and when considering others including Mizuno I still came back to srixon irons including for looks. But maybe the 785 is something to graduate to maybe as a combo set including with the u85. Do you think this makes sense as a graduation from the 565s? Also combine already with the RTX 3 wedges. Not tried the RTX 4.
Loving the look of those I currently play Z545 irons with Nippon NS Pro Modus3 Tour 130 shafts but feel like with my swing changes I am hitting them too high now - need to confirm on a launch monitor at my next lesson Would the new Z785 with the Tour 105 or Tour 120 help lower the flight but still give me control? Handicap has come down to 12 this year but I have shot sub 80 a few times as well and looking to get to single figures next year
Z785 should produce a lower ball flight at the same loft versus the Z545 due to the difference in CG location. Would recommend you demo the Z785's with the Tour 120.
Did Srixon tell you anything about a Z985 blade model? They offered 945 and 965 in the two previous generations and were very well received. Not sure what has happened to the blades this time.
Love these reviews! I've noticed with each offering, the location of mass has changed (45s towards the heel, 65s the toe and 85s middle-ish). Does this mean someone who tends to strike slightly out of the heel would be better with the 745s and someone off the toe the 765s?
Probably not, as there's also tungsten weighting in certain models that distributes the CG as well. All irons would have been designed for optimal mishit performance, just the evolution of the design and refining the concept over time.
Thoughts on blending iron shafts, X100 in Short irons (7-9) for control, and softer S400 in long irons for forgiveness? I played X1 irons for years, now S400, but have X1 in my 46 & 50 and they're most accurate in the bag
Hey Ian and Matt. Great video. How would the new Srixon 585 irons compare to my current PING GMAX irons? Performance? Would it be an upgrade or comparable? I hit my 7 iron 30.5 degrees about 150 yds. Thanks.
Likely you would notice a significant feel difference, and the turf interaction would be quite different with the sole design of the Srixon. Would be worth trying side by side at a fitting Juan!
Why don't Srixon deploy adjustable hosels in their later model fairways and hybrids? I game z565 irons (love them), a z545 9.5 deg driver (nice) and zF45 3 & 5 woods (also nice). Spent a lot of time (&$) acquiring a variety of shafts for these that suit my game and various conditions. I'll upgrade my driver over the next 12 months to a later model Srixon (and can therefore also deploy my existing driver shafts because adjustable hosel models are available) but I can't do this with the fairway woods as they are all fixed hosel, meaning I will stay with my current fairways or buy another brand and change shaft adapters to use my current shafts. I don't get it, Srixon need to do more work on their product positioning, particularly as they now have Cleveland with their fixed hosel offerings.
This was the review I have been anxiously waiting for and it did not disappoint. It makes sense that the 585 would launch higher with the CG but I heard Ian say the wider soul also causes that. Could you please touch on that? unrelated is with now back to back wins by Bryson is there any consideration being given to testing a one length set? If so could you please post the results alongside Matt's baseline numbers? I hear the long irons fly low and the wedges too high. would love to see these side by side with Matt's numbers.
If there's a SL iron test I'd like to see it with a player with a more average swing speed. The issue with long irons flying lower can be overcome with a higher swing speed but not so much with a lower swing speed so Matt's results might not be applicable to someone like me that's more and more interested in a set of SL irons.
Im going to have custom fitting day before christnas. I'm thinking on a combo set with 785 and z-foreged blades. (4-7 in z785 and 8-pw in z-forged). Is that a good combo?

@@clubchampionmedia just an update. I never thought I'd get better results than the 765 but you guys were right. The new sole is incredible. I actually put a 585 5 and 6 iron in to pick up a little height and ball speed. I went with steelfiber 110x over nippon 130x and got a higher lower spinning flight and picked up quite a bit of distance and the wind doesn't hit the zstar xv as much. I went out and put 3 rounds under par in a row after putting them in the bag! Thanks for the the recommendation. Cheers.
Thanks for great review, going to a demo day later this month to try Srixon irons for the first time!!!! If they play as good as they look, I think I will be spending some Money!!
Sorry meant to ask if majority of time are you keeping the clubs standard for most fittings or getting them shorter when fitting to 37.75. Also just had a fitting for the z585 and z785 really liked the irons. The fitter thinks I would be better fit for Nippon modus 105 more than the 120. Bc the spin was a little more on 105.. Used pro v1x with go quad. And seemed low spinning around 5300 with the z785 with 105 and 5100 spin with 120. Club head speed 84 to 86 mile 7 iron...Height 34 yards, carry 160, just wanted to ask you guys. I have used dg300 sensicore in my mixing mp53 and have a ping i20 set with cfs shaft not sure the weight. Is this too little spin and I feel like the modus 120 felt better by weight.. but he thought bc my spin number the 105 is better. Sorry for long message would be great to get your input.
I am considering buying Srixon Zforged combo set but when I called Srixon they said they said the club has no room for swingweight adjustments. I was looking to order with X100's & MCC Plus 4 Standard grip which they told me would be D2. How can I get the club to D3/D4??? Is lead tape the only option?
A custom club fitter can pull the shafts and put a lead weight in the tip of the shaft no problem. Or lead tape if you don't care about the visuals. Also ordering them a half inch longer would increase swingweight as well or using a lighter weight grip.
i like theses clubs i'm a fellow lefty playing the 765 irons with kbs tour stiff 120 and love them but ill try these new ones and the new driver as well great job in a well detailed review . i must say i play srixon / cleveland now for 15 years and yet have to find a club they make i don't like . they are the most under rated company in golf but they should not be
TXG Tour Experience Golf .... thanks, just reviewed them, and sounds just about what I'm looking for. I've got some mid bend profile shafts, and taped a 35g cut tube shaft to the mid section bend profile and it tested great so far. I'm either scooping or lagging with to soft mid sections, I load and transition pretty brutish. thanks for the recommendation. 😎✌
I’m confused now Matt is hitting the 765 with modus 120 x I thought he was hitting The blades with dynamic gold x7 and ping g400 max and now hitting the lst did all that fitting change when he got on the course because I always find that also everything is great inside then outside doesn’t perform the same
Swing changes and the availability of the miuras in LH were the main factors, G400 LST is a better fit for me on as I'm playing more of a draw off the tee and it sits open at address
My 745's are finally worn out so I'll give these a go. I've been playing the Cobra Forged TEC Black and love them but I don't really need to hit my 7i 190. Then again, my 745's are bent weak because these clubs are a bit strong too =)
@TXG Ive just got the new z forged, im finding with my hands forward neg loft around -2-5 deg that the turf interaction in rougher grass is horrible. Kicks out of the ground with short divot and lose any decent feel of ball contact through the club. Does this sound familiar to anyone else with these v soles?? #concerned
What do you mean by "rougher grass"? I played the z forged and now switched to the 785s and didn't notice any issues through different turf, I'm not very steep though.
TXG Tour Experience Golf Thanks for the reply, just show the videos of you hitting and talk in the background. Doesn’t lengthen the videos and allows us to see ball flight etc... , I don’t want to say be like someone but Rick Shiels does a good job with this. Have you ever tested Hogan equipment? I wonder if the turf interaction is similar with the V-sole.

1-2 degrees won't drastically change the club. Any more than that and you'll start noticeably altering the offset and the bounce will get low enough you'll start digging more into the turf.

I'd love to see a comparison between these and the 919 forged. And 585 Vs Hot metal.

Would the new Z785 with the Tour 105 or Tour 120 help lower the flight but still give me control?
Handicap has come down to 12 this year but I have shot sub 80 a few times as well and looking to get to single figures next year
Z785 should produce a lower ball flight at the same loft versus the Z545 due to the difference in CG location. Would recommend you demo the Z785's with the Tour 120.
Did Srixon tell you anything about a Z985 blade model? They offered 945 and 965 in the two previous generations and were very well received. Not sure what has happened to the blades this time.
They have decided not to offer a '9' option wit the 85's
I'm trying to find some sort of explanation that Srixon has given. Maybe the previous blades just haven't sold well enough? They were fantastic clubs.

Thinner and VT sole is more pronounced vs. the 765
@@clubchampionmedia just an update. Cheers.
I just got the new Callaway Xforged, how would you compare to the 785
Thanks for great review, going to a demo day later this month to try Srixon irons for the first time!!!! If they play as good as they look, I think I will be spending some Money!!
Didn't dustin johnson hit an old 1 iron 300 yards last week?
When are you reviewing the 585’s?😢
Soon!
Is the Tungsten gone in the toe of the long irons?
Shaft lengths seem to have gotten .25 inch longer. Did you guys keep it standard length from srixon or shortened them? Thanks
These were the standard length that Srixon gave us to test
Nice 👕😀 great video 👍👍👍👍👍👍
I am a bit confused guys, I thought when Matt was fitted he went for the Miura's?? Have i missed something?
Quite a few weeks, if you have only just learnt this 😂🤣
Its would seem that way! haha When did it happen
Hey Matt what shirt is that?
Greyson - www.greysonclothiers.com/
Are we going to see your srixon 585 test soon ? Looking forward to it !
Yup it's on our list!
Does Srixon have more than one head weight in that model? Appreciated by tall guys who require extra length and a reasonably low swing weight...
Also ordering them a half inch longer would increase swingweight as well or using a lighter weight grip.
how do you compare these to the JPX 919 Tours thank you
i like theses clubs i'm a fellow lefty playing the 765 irons with kbs tour stiff 120 and love them but ill try these new ones and the new driver as well great job in a well detailed review . i must say i play srixon / cleveland now for 15 years and yet have to find a club they make i don't like . they are the most under rated company in golf but they should not be
do you like the 785's better than mizuno JPX 919 Tours?
"little errant off the tee... can't putt..." boy, sounds like these irons are for me!
😆
what's best xstiff , least bend profile iron shaft would you recommend?
DG X7 is about as heavy and stiff as anything out there
TXG Tour Experience Golf .... thanks, just reviewed them, and sounds just about what I'm looking for. I've got some mid bend profile shafts, and taped a 35g cut tube shaft to the mid section bend profile and it tested great so far.
I'm either scooping or lagging with to soft mid sections, I load and transition pretty brutish.
thanks for the recommendation. 😎✌
I’m confused now Matt is hitting the 765 with modus 120 x I thought he was hitting The blades with dynamic gold x7 and ping g400 max and now hitting the lst did all that fitting change when he got on the course because I always find that also everything is great inside then outside doesn’t perform the same
matt dipadua couldn’t get the blades in the Miuras apparently
Swing changes and the availability of the miuras in LH were the main factors, G400 LST is a better fit for me on as I'm playing more of a draw off the tee and it sits open at address
TXG Tour Experience Golf thanks Matt
Did the x7 not work with the srixzon heads or you just got better performance with the modus thx
My 745's are finally worn out so I'll give these a go. I've been playing the Cobra Forged TEC Black and love them but I don't really need to hit my 7i 190. Then again, my 745's are bent weak because these clubs are a bit strong too =)
Could you review srixon z965
@TXG Ive just got the new z forged, im finding with my hands forward neg loft around -2-5 deg that the turf interaction in rougher grass is horrible. Kicks out of the ground with short divot and lose any decent feel of ball contact through the club. Does this sound familiar to anyone else with these v soles??
#concerned
lol, blaming a club for turf interaction.. it's on you bud
What do you mean by "rougher grass"? I played the z forged and now switched to the 785s and didn't notice any issues through different turf, I'm not very steep though.
Where is the 585 review?
waiting on our demos
Any timeline? Itching for your thoughts on the 585s
Anyone tested these against the Ping i210’s?
Did you upgrade then Matty? Surely Ian will let you px?😆
Might have to!!
He is from Scotland so it won’t be a cheap upgrade😀
@@petergibson3898 staff discount surely worth a buck or two!
Reviews are great but we need to see the swings..... just give us a few videos of the club being hit, would add a lot.
We generally just show a few now, our older videos we showed every swing and got a lot of complaints about the videos running too long.
TXG Tour Experience Golf Thanks for the reply, just show the videos of you hitting and talk in the background. Doesn’t lengthen the videos and allows us to see ball flight etc... , I don’t want to say be like someone but Rick Shiels does a good job with this. Thanks for the awesome reviews though, one of the best up and coming golf channels I have seen.
That disco shirt tho
I thought matt was fitted for X7’s
Had some swing changes over the summer, Modus 120 ended up being a much better fit after
TXG Tour Experience Golf Stiff flex? Did Matt try out the 105s? Great video as usual!
Thumbnail says Srizon
Oh god it does 😆 , thanks for the heads up!
No problem! Wow I feel helpful
Guys, this is turning into a Srixon commercials channel. Please put them head to head and show how good they are IRL?
We had all the new Srixon releases in the studio last week for our film day, simple as that.
Hey guys, Mattie's gotta lose that top button
