- Axl Rose and Kurt Cobain are among the most celebrated singers in the history of rock, yet they had a heated feud that lasted for years.
As the frontman of Guns N’ Roses, Rose was on top of the world as the ‘90s dawned - but another sound was fermenting in the Pacific Northwest. Grunge would be the antithesis of Hollywood’s bright lights, and the genre’s breakout band was Nirvana.
Like many of his contemporaries, Cobain was anti-corporate rock and despised many of the ‘80s hair-metal acts, including Guns N' Roses. The two frontmen would exchange many heated words over the years, and infamously had a face-to-face altercation backstage at the 1992 MTV Video Music Awards.

Whether Curt likes to admit it his ego was as big as Axls. The way they both handle the situation, it was like children. The world was big enough for both of them. I like both bands individually for their own contributions. However, Guns n' roses will always be my favorite.🌹💯
Just think Kurdt said all that. Then kills himself and leaves a baby daughter with Courtney Love. Axl sang words in a song, doesn't means it defines him. Kurdt's actions in the end were much worse than a lyric in a song.

I remember this like it was yesterday dam time fly's both great bands the 90s where the last of the greatest music!!!!!
I think that they both could have learned a lot from each other had they allowed a friendship to blossom. Axl was for sure immature, sexist, homophobic, all of those things. He was the biggest rockstar on the planet in the late 80s, early 90s, so it kind of makes sense that he wasn't a perfect human. At the same time, Kurt seemed very pretentious and sanctimonious. None of these traits are very good. I'm sure they both had their good qualities. Axl definitely seemed to genuinely like Kurt and Nirvana, and he wasn't trying to use them for profit.
I would rather be pretentious than hateful….

I *Love* both bands, but each lead singer had massive personal issues & were rebelling against illusions they themselves created.

Kurt was right. Axl and all those 80’s hair bands were toxic problematic flash-in-pan trash. That’s why 90’s grunge bested them.
To be fair Guns N’ Roses were slightly different from their immediate peers, but were almost in the same ballpark.
