I hope the mechanic who “rebuilt” your engine watches this and is embarrassed about his work.

Hey Chas, your not being dramatic, I think its totally understandable that you are stressed about your vessel and the possibility of your girlfriend having to leave the country. I think its super strong of you to show these emotions to this large of an audience. Keep up the energy and the dedication and I'm sure it'll work out. Love and good luck to you and the whole crew ^^

Not sure what you paid for the "engine rebuild" but I'd go ask for a refund. Its just another example of why getting work done in Florida is super risky!

Heyyy Chase, I've been watching the series since the beginning (occasionally giving you shit when the daily vlogs stopped on IG 😂), and I just want to tell you that I am very proud of what you have achieved and that this project is moving on. Part of being a strong man is showing emotions when you need to, and this has been so stressful for you, so it's great that you are showing it. So keep it going, brother, and a lot of love from Yucatán, Mexico.

monumental occasion with you guys leaving the dock. There is a lot to learn and mistakes will be made. Even the guys with 300,000 miles under their keels and still learning and still making mistakes. My wife and i just bought our first boat and its 60ft. Ive sailed my whole life and driven a lot of boats ( up to 50ft ) but owning your own is different and as you said it is a bit terrifying. We sailed 4 days with the previous owners captain and then our first trip alone was just 10 miles up the bay to the yard where she would be hauled for the winter and if i told you i wasn't slightly terrified i would be lying. In fact the day we were supposed to go it was blowing 17-20 onto the dock and i told my wife we were not going to go and we were waiting till the next day when the forecast was for 5. No way was i going to risk an accident to keep a schedule. This is an important lesson and one you should always remember. Its so great to see you guys on the move!!!.

      @@ChasingGrace21 I’ll email you pics.
The things you did right when you left the dock
      1: made a plan
      2: communicated/discussed plan with crew
3: didn’t freak out/scream/yell when it did not go to plan.
You will learn to drive the boat, most people never learn #3 so you are already ahead of a lot of people.
Drive against your spring lines to help you get on and off the dock, even with a bow thruster sail boats are difficult to drive.
Man after seeing even more engine issues it just makes me mad that guy in florida said he basically built you a new engine!!!
My 2 last pieces of advice which I actually learned from a RUclips channel is when you are sailing if it’s uncomfortable because of your wind/wave angle you are not married to your next way point. You can change course to make it more comfortable to cook/eat/sleep/relax.
      Next is REEF EARLY.
      Safe travels.

I have almost the identical boat as you. Learn how to use prop WASH. I found it best to get the midship line made first when docking. Bow line made first in any wind or current can get you in trouble fast. Prop wash had saved me multiple times.

A little advice. When towing your dingy always use two lines attached to different places. One day a line will break or come undone so with two you won’t be in the s**t.

  • @arczealdesigns9512

I understand it's been four months, but you could have hired any farmer in the Midwest, and they could have dismantled and reassembled that engine blindfolded. You have a big heart, brother. You trusted someone in the trades who shouldn't be doing that kind of work, and paid for it. One good thing is, you're not the same guy anymore. Learn from this and understand that these kinds of unreliable people are out there in every trade, especially now that many younger generations have pursued different paths with technology. Always do a background check to see if the shop has a good reputation with customers. And remember, next time you see a mechanic painting your engine, don't pay him!

The very boat that can give you so much peace and tranquility can also be the same boat that deprives you of peace and tranquility. Two emotions - absolute joy or absolute terror. Who wins? The one you let win. It's all worth it.

I would really not trust that engine, i think with the issues you had you really cannot trust the rebuild and really have to think what else he skillfully fixed. That mating surface should have been cleaned/resurfaced if it was that pitted/partly gone. Also would be really interesting what the state of your heads are as those rods dont bend by themselves.
