    Huge tip for Polygel: Use base coat gel as yours “slip”. It makes life so much easier, especially if you have a firmer consistency PolyGel or you’re in colder weather, where the Polygel gets extremely firm. I have also been known to soak the bottles in warm water before use and it helps to soften it a bit.💗 Great video!💕 Happy Valentine’s Day!

      Thank you, im glad you liked the video & Happy Valentines Day to you :) I have heard of using base coat as slip solution but never tried it. Id definitely be open to trying it out though, maybe in a video. You gave some really good tips. Im going to pin this so others can see this easily!! I really appreciate this comment 💖

    Girl! I have to tell you that this is BY FAR, absolutely the BEST video I have ever seen explaining polygel for a beginner. I'm truly impressed. I only wish this had been around when I started with polygel a few years back. Even though I already know all of this information (not like I know everything LOL but because I've been using it for so long), I watched every minute of the video. This is such great, clear, concise and helpful information for a beginner. I really can't think of anything that should have been added. I really appreciate that you take time to research and understand how a product works and how it's used. Anyone can make a video using dual forms or the LGM, but you went above and beyond. This will help prevent a beginning DIY'ER from making mistakes that could cause them issues such as damaging their natural nail plate or ending up with greenies on their nails from improper application. Great job!!!! Keep up the good work!!!! 💕💕💕💕💕

      Wow this is the nicest compliment Ive ever gotten! My main goal for my videos is to be thorough. Im glad that is the way they come across! Coming from someone who is very familiar with polygel, it meant a lot when you said you cant think anything that could’ve been added in the video 🥰 & I also wished there was a video like this when I began too so I tried to make the perfect beginner video. This video was a lot of work but feedback like this really makes it worth it, so thank you so much ❤️

      @@vicsnailtips oh my gosh.....I really meant it. I can tell you put a lot of time into making the video and having facts straight. It was straightforward and well organized from start to finish. I'm so proud of you and I've never even met you LOL!!! 😊 Everyone I watch has their own niche and are great. But you really have a knack for explaining things well and diving into to really important things aside from just pretty nails. I know for a fact that this is going to help a lot of people. I'm self taught too, and basically learned most everything here on RUclips and the internet. I watch a lot of Young Nails videos because they do the same thing and their videos are very educational, and that's been absolutely invaluable in my journey. It's so nice to see someone else providing that information to their viewers too!

Theyre such a great brand and channel. Nail Career Education is where I learned alot. As a small channel, your comments and support have helped a lot, thank you ❤️

    Great video, best I've seen so far. As another tip, don't use clear polygel if you're a beginner! It's the hardest to work with. Use something opaque so that it's easier to see how thick/thin you've applied it in the form.

    • @vicsnailtips
      @vicsnailtips  3 года назад +5

      Thank you, so glad you enjoyed the video. And that is actually a great point that I hadn't thought of! I said to use clear because a feel like it easily accessible but you would definitely have an easier time seeing what you're doing with a color polygel. Thanks for this 💜

    I found a tip from another nail tech that made my life easier. She uses a paper form and lays the dual form with product over the paper form. It works great! Makes cleaning the under nail obsolete. I have used it on one hand. So far, so great. Let me know if you try it. Thank you for all of the tips you have shared. I have learned so much from you.

      I’m new to this type of nail product. Please explain the actual technique you are referring to. I’ve never heard of a paper form. I don’t know whether the filled mold goes on top of the entire paper form before or after application to the actual nail or if the paper form only goes on the tip portion of the mold.

    After watching several RUclips videos and reading articles about what I should get as a beginner, I took notes and went to get the supplies. I went to Amazon, filled my cart, almost checked out, but then something stopped me. It felt like someone told me in the back of my mind “nuh uh, not yet”, so back to RUclips I went. I’m so glad this was the first video I chose to watch, and it led me down a rabbit hole of all your other incredibly helpful videos! This one is especially thorough and gives great detail, I usually have questions while watching tutorials but you covered all the bases and then some. I especially appreciate the checklist at the end of the video because I like to take notes so I felt very seen in that moment. Your content is wonderful, thank you for helping me make smart choices as a beginner doing my own nails at home 💅🏾

    This was soooo so helpful! Thank you! Im late to the scene but tried polygel for the first time last week and im obsessed! But of course have alot of practice to do! My main issue was overfilling because i was worried they would be too thin… but then flooded the underneath instead, so needed to file alot of product off to get the curve underneath back!
    Your tips are going to be so helpful for my next try!

    Great video! Thank you for making it. I learned alot. I've learned to put a mirror in my big lamp so it reflects back. (Of course make sure the mirror is small enough to not reflect outside the lamp and mess up your eyes lol) so it can cure the top and bottom at the same time. Also if you're in a rush and don't clean your brush, make sure that sunlight doesn't hit your stuff because the UV from the sun will come through your window and will cure and harden your brush 😊

    Wow! You covered everything. My Japanese salon costs $130-180 for liquid gel extensions with paper forms. I definitely want to save this money and try this myself. Other vids I watched always left me with more questions and feeling like I couldn’t do this, but your video is empowering. Thank you!!! I’ll try the flatter dual forms to start. Question: I notice you don’t use those clips to hold the nail in place before you cure it. Is there a reason why?

    • @krystenburkhardt-hansyn
      @krystenburkhardt-hansyn 4 месяца назад

      I haven’t seen paper forms like this in 2030 years. When I was a nail tech in the 80s, we were doing porcelain nails and we did the whole nail. We didn’t do tips to begin with. We begin using forms in our big technology upgrade was when they came out with reusablemetal forms with these wires on the end that help it be more stable. That was our big thing. But I think this is amazing that people are going back to using forms.

    • @ariesdelfuego
      @ariesdelfuego 3 месяца назад

      u dont really need them. u can just set the form atop the nail. the clips can push product out anyway. if u use clips, remove the clips before putting hand under light!!! a woman left the clips on under the light and it caused necrosis and lost her fingernails😮!!

    All your advice is good, accept with the sizing of the dual forms! If there is a form that is either too big/small, go for the larger one and file it down to match your nail bed.

      Emma
      You shouldn't file a dual form.
      When you file it it loses it's nonstick ability in that spot and stick when you try to remove it.

    I’m a beginner to polygel & nails in general. A nail lamp was a Christmas present. That’s how new I am. I think your video has excellent advice & covers some of my problems. My nail beds are small and I had them falling off the nail bed (while they were still uncured) and was just having to use intuition with brief instructions. I found a set of clear clips on Amazon and they help with the problem of the form & product falling off the nail bed. My first set of nails were a disaster and had to be filed off with an e-file. But I think if I had watched your video it would have helped a lot. The only thing I might add is about the clips that would be helpful to some & a cheap e-file, so if you do mess up & ruin your nails you can file off the polygel. I actually really like polygel, but I did try acrylic nails before. But polygel is easier for me & doesn’t smell like acrylic/monomer nails. That’s the main reason I went to polygel. You mentioned about curing with clear polygel, but if it’s not clear you should cure the underside. That was a good tip. It’s a fun hobby & not too awfully expensive. Especially during this pandemic, I think a lot of people are branching out into new things they can do alone.

    • @vicsnailtips
      @vicsnailtips  3 года назад

      Hi, Im so happy the video was helpful. I tried to make the video I needed when I first started! I agree that since the pandemic, learning to use polygel is such a great hobby. I also prefer it over acrylic. Having an e-file to remove pracice nails would definitely make the process easier. About uncured product falling off your nail, I know there are finger clips that help it to stay on while you perfect it. Ive never used them but i’ve seen others make them work. But i’m glad you enjoyed the video, and definitely keep going with your nails 😊❤️

      The underside was my biggest struggle when I first started dual forms. I found that smoothing it right before I cure and curing both side was the only way to have decent looking undersides lol. They can be soo tedious!!

I have only done 1 set and I completely screwed it up. I was ready to just say "screw it", and deal with my sad, uneven, natural nails. I have completely changed my mind because of you. I am soaking these off and redoing them tomorrow. Now, someone else may have already mentioned this but you never said anything about the top coat. I keep reading how important it is, but now I'm wondering if it's as important as people keep saying. Please let me know, and should I do it before or after the decorations, gold, stones, all that. Thank you for this amazing video.

    Thank you!!! I've been watching instruction vids for weeks and your's is perfect. I finally have the confidence to apply these nails. I found your information practical for a first time dual form user. No need for all the extras like nail dremel etc. You explained everything clearly for someone like me who is a total newbie to doing my own gel nails without over explaining details. The speed you went through this was perfect. No need to go back or pause. Just watched it all the way through. You are by far the best at helping learn this. I've had my kit for a year and haven't felt confident to use it until now. I'm bold about trying new things but wrecking my natural nails was a gamble I was cautious about. Thanks so much!!!

    I'll probably apply the polygel directly to my nail with the brush. I've been using hard gel and it takes forever. The fact that this won't move around on it's own might make it easier for me. Thanks for doing the video. It was very helpful.

    I bought a kit first and then, looking at the instructions, figured I could use some help. I use to do nails many, many years ago and also, because of a job, wasn't able to do anything with my nails due to health codes. But since retiring, I wanted my hands to look pretty again.
    All that to say, I skipped over a lot of videos until I found yours. Very informative and I like your attention to details. I'm now ready to use my new kit! Thank you!

    Your video helped me understand what I did wrong! I got my polygel kit today, and I was playing with it and I couldn’t understand why my nails wasn’t curing and breaking off so easily…. Cause I was making my polygel thick in my nail dual forms and I was confused what I was doing wrong until now ! You helped me understand. Always make your polygel thin in your dual forms so it can cure fully and they won’t break! Dully noted! 😌💯

    Thank you so much for this! I just got my kit recently. My niece let me practice on her. (our time was cut very short cause she had to leave.) But I had an issue getting the dual forms to stay on her nails. I did all the prepping I was supposed to do. Maybe I was using too much alcohol.. I'm not sure. Definitely gonna take some time, trial and errors to get the technique down. But thank you so much for such an informative & thorough video❤️ 💯
